Chapter 107 Strange Things—The Factory

"Clang... clang... clang..." With a metallic scraping sound, a towering figure appeared in the corridor.

This man's muscles were bulging like a coiled dragon, exuding power. He was at least two meters tall, radiating a suffocating sense of oppression.

However, what is most striking is his head, with an iron hood covering his face, obscuring his features and revealing only a pair of cold eyes.

He was wearing black plastic overalls, and the large machete in his hand was even more chilling. The machete was rusty, but still gleamed with a cold light. It was more than a meter long and he dragged it on the ground. When it hit the ground, it made a crisp "clang...clang..." sound, as if it were the tolling of a bell from hell.

With each step he took, his rubber boots creaked and groaned on the ground.

The sound intertwined with the sound of his large machete striking the ground, creating a strange and terrifying rhythm that filled the entire corridor with tension.

The sound grew closer, and Xu Anran and the others had no idea what kind of danger they were about to face.

Just then, at the corner at the end of the road, the strange man was about to turn.

After turning the corner, the man found the corridor empty, devoid of anything. His gaze grew even colder as he continued walking forward, dragging his broadsword.

Finally, he stopped at the door of a room and stood there quietly, as if waiting for something.

Beneath the iron cover, a pair of bloodshot, wide-open eyes seemed to burn with two flames, peering through the crack in the door like hungry wolves into every corner of the room.

His eyes darted around, but he didn't find anyone. He turned around and was about to walk into the next room.

But suddenly, he turned around abruptly, and with a loud bang, the door was kicked open. After confirming that no one was there, he finally walked to the next room.

And what about Xu Anran and the others?

They covered their mouths tightly, even forgetting to breathe, as if they had been frozen in place.

Just before they were about to encounter the masked man, Yi Yi and Ya Ya both showed instinctive fear, trembling like leaves in the wind.

Seeing that things were not going well, Xu Anran and Luo Xi, for safety's sake, took Yi Yi and Ya Ya and found a room to hide in.

When the masked man peered through the crack in the door, they hid behind it, their hearts pounding in their throats, their breaths catching in their throats, their bodies tense like taut bowstrings.

Fortunately, they discovered a small door behind the main door of the room. Taking advantage of the moment when the masked man turned to leave, they scurried through the small door like mice.

Otherwise, he would probably have caught us by now!

Through the small door, they saw a path leading in an unknown direction. Meanwhile, the masked man outside was frantically searching the corridor like a mad beast.

They followed the road to its end, where an iron gate stood. Opening it, they entered a dark, narrow corridor. The walls were covered with various black-and-white photographs; the people in the photos were bizarre, their faces distorted and twisted, as if screaming silently.

As they moved, the eyes of the people in the photo followed their movements.

They ignored the photos, and just as they were about to step out of the corridor, the figures in the photos began to emit one bloodcurdling scream after another, the sounds rising and falling in waves, like a symphony of death.

As they screamed, the masked man froze, like a statue. He turned abruptly and, like an arrow released from a bow, sped toward the direction from which the sound came.

The footsteps were deafening, growing faster and closer, "thump thump thump... thump thump thump, thump thump."

Upon hearing the shouts, Xu Anran and the others fled like startled birds. They were like headless flies, running around aimlessly. As the running sounds grew closer behind them, everyone's heart pounded, and they felt a suffocating fear.

Just then, Luo Xi spotted a hole and, as if grasping at a lifeline, pulled Xu Anran and the others into it.

This is a basement, dimly lit by small red lights on the walls. Several rows of iron shelves can be seen standing on the walls, displaying many glass jars.

Upon closer inspection, these glass jars contain various human tissues, including human eyeballs, palms, feet, some disgusting reproductive organs, and the corpses of some infants who died young.

As they observed the basement, they were completely unaware that a door had been quietly opened.

Half a face peeked out from behind the door like a ghost, chuckling silently, revealing eight neat, large yellow teeth beneath that standard smile.

Xu Anran turned around and saw this scene directly. She almost screamed, but luckily she covered her mouth in time.

Then the person reached out from behind the door and made a "shh" gesture.

Xu Anran tried to calm herself down, slowly lowered her hand, and gestured to the people around her to pay attention to what was behind the door.

The man was covered in blood, his thin body seemingly devoid of its soul, resembling a fragile skeleton. His hands and feet were tightly chained with heavy iron chains, preventing him from leaving the room behind the door even a step.

He stared straight at them, a happy expression on his face.

Xu Anran felt a chill run down her spine from his gaze, but she still mustered the courage to ask in a low voice, "Do you know how to get out?"

Surprisingly, the man actually responded to her question. He pointed his finger directly to a room across the street and then made various gestures, seemingly indicating that a map was hidden in a cabinet in that room.

Although I had doubts about this person's credibility, staying here was tantamount to waiting for death, so I might as well take a gamble and try it out.

So, Xu Anran and the others carefully opened the door to the room, which was pitch black inside.

She took a flashlight out of the room, turned it to the lowest setting, and began to shine it into the room.

Thick dust filled the room and billowed in the light of a flashlight as the door opened. Cracks on the wall resembled twisted worms, seemingly wriggling slowly.

Seeing that there was no danger, Xu Anran and the others quickly searched the room.

Soon, they found the map in a drawer of a large wooden cabinet. As Xu Anran reached for it, a withered hand, as dry as a dead tree branch and covered with dark brown lividity, gripped her tightly like a demonic claw reaching out from hell. Xu Anran was startled.

She hurriedly pulled out a talisman from her spatial storage and pressed it forcefully against the hand. The withered hand was instantly burned and released her grip. Xu Anran took the opportunity to retrieve a map, and together with the others, closed the door and left the room.
