Chapter 157 Competition

When Lucy saw them, she huffed and left to eat with the others.

Xu Anran turned her head and saw her younger brother, Dexin Kexi, having dinner with his classmates nearby. Their eyes met, but they immediately looked away, pretending not to see each other.

One week later, in the afternoon, they had ten minutes left before their military training ended for the day.

The instructors gave everyone a heads-up: all freshmen would have to participate in a competition in two days.

To ensure fairness in the competition, no one is allowed to use their awakened abilities in this match.

This is a wilderness survival competition, divided into team and individual events. Each member of the winning class will receive 100 campus points, which can be redeemed for items.

The person with the highest individual score will receive a bottle of Awakening Potion.

Xu Anran was very interested in the awakening potion and wanted to try it.

Lista, looking distressed, said, "Our class is just here to deliver vegetables."

"Why? Didn't they say we can't use our abilities? Then everyone's the same," Xu Anran asked, puzzled.

Lista looked at Xu Anran with a "you really don't understand" expression and shook his head: "You know, even without using their abilities, they are still very strong. Because of their awakened abilities, their physical attributes are different from ours."

Add to that their regular training, and even without using their abilities, they are incomparable.

A boy who overheard their conversation chimed in, "You can't say that. As long as we practice diligently, we won't be that much worse off."

Moreover, with everyone working together, we might achieve good results. How can we declare defeat before the battle even begins?

Upon seeing the boy who was speaking, Lista rolled her eyes and quickly pulled Xu Anran away.

Xu Anran turned to look at the boy who had just spoken. He was tall and had messy, reddish-brown curly hair, making him look somewhat like a golden retriever.

He was still talking incessantly to the other students in the class, and Xu Anran asked Lista curiously who this person was.

Lista explained, "He's the third son of the Vissi family, named White Vissi. He has two older brothers who both awakened their abilities at the age of ten, but he, like us, hasn't awakened his yet."

He always felt he was no less capable than his brothers, saying that once he awakened his true potential, he would be incredibly powerful. From a young age, he loved to say things like, "My fate is in my own hands, not in the heavens," and "As long as I have perseverance, I will definitely succeed."

Every time there was an event, he would try to get everyone motivated. When we were kids, we were inspired by his words and tried to show everyone that we weren't the losers people thought we were. But every time it ended in a disastrous failure, and eventually, nobody wanted to listen to his nonsense anymore.

The two entered the cafeteria and were looking at the food in the display case, discussing what to eat today. Lucy was carrying a plate of food and walking towards them when suddenly the entire plate of food was spilled on Lista, and Xu Anran, who was standing next to her, was also splashed with the food.

Lucy, with a smug grin, pretended to be unintentional and said, "Oops, I didn't mean to, are you guys alright?"

Seeing Lucy's expression, Lista, covered in food, angrily said, "You did this on purpose!"

Meeting Lista's angry gaze, Lucy raised an eyebrow, her face full of disdain: "I already said it wasn't intentional, what do you want? What can you do about it?"

Lista looked at Lucy resentfully. Yeah, what could she do? She couldn't beat her anyway. Complaining about this kind of thing would just end up nothing. Xu Anran, who was standing to the side, looked at the two of them, then at the vegetable water splattered on her, and took a step forward.

She looked calmly at Lucy: "Whether you did it on purpose or not, you should apologize because you dirtied our clothes."

Lucy looked at Xu Anran and said nonchalantly, "Okay, sorry."

“You should bow and apologize,” Xu Anran said.

Lucy frowned: "I've already apologized, why are you all making trouble!" She turned to leave, but Xu Anran reached out and blocked her way.

Lista, seeing Xu Anran like this, wanted to stop her, but when she saw Xu Anran's serious expression, she withdrew her outstretched hand.

Xu Anran said, "Apologize!"

"Ha, I've already said that, don't force me to do it." Lucy was already impatient.

Xu Anran took another step forward, facing Lucy: "Then you try it!"

Lucy snapped her fingers, and a cloud of black mist rose from the ground, which Xu Anran dodged with a quick movement.

With a leap, she turned around with a dagger to grab Lucy, but Lucy reacted quickly, trying to dodge and then summoning black mist towards Xu Anran.

Something seemed to be about to emerge from the black mist. Xu Anran dodged it again, grabbed Lucy who was trying to run away, and held the dagger to her neck.

Lucy tried to resist, but a teacher ran over, told the two to stop, and took them all away.

On the way to the office, Lista looked at Xu Anran with admiration: "You're so amazing! I thought you were doomed, but you actually managed to dodge it."

Xu Anran said, "I exercise regularly and have practiced martial arts. Would you like to practice with me?"

“Okay, I’ll definitely train hard,” Lista happily agreed.

After arriving at the office, the teacher watched the video footage from the surveillance camera and gave the group a lecture, saying that fighting was not allowed at school and that if they wanted to fight, they should go to the fighting arena.

After that, Xu Anran and Lucy are each asked to write a self-criticism and hand it in tomorrow.

After leaving the office, Lucy whispered menacingly to Xu Anran, "You just wait, wait until the game, and I'll show you what I'm made of!"

Watching Lucy's departing figure, Lista said worriedly, "It's all because of me. What are we going to do now?"

"Let's go, we'll talk about it later." The two left and went back to their dormitory.

As the sun set and fiery clouds lit up the sky, Qi Ziqi, along with Yi Yi and Yang Ru, followed the group to the church, while Chang An and Li Li stayed at the hotel.

After waiting outside for a while, as darkness fell, the priest came out of the church and led the group away.

Qi Ziqi, Yang Ru, and Yi Yi followed them from a distance. After walking for about half an hour, they arrived at a villa, which was guarded.

Yi Yi flew to the back of the villa, opened the window, and secretly led the two inside.

They sneaked into an empty room, carefully opened the door, and stealthily went downstairs.

Hearing footsteps, the group quickly hid in a room.

They overheard through the bugging device that the priest led people into the basement.

Fearing she would lose them, Yang Ru had planted listening devices and tracking devices on the group while she was tracking them.

They sneaked to the entrance to the basement and saw that it was also guarded.

Qi Ziqi took out the sleeping pills prepared by Zhao Chang'an and, together with Yi Yi, knocked out the two guards at the door.

The two then went into the basement, while Yang Ru stayed upstairs to meet them.

The basement was deep, and many candles were lit on the walls for illumination. The two of them carefully descended.
