On the day of the provincial competition, the venue was packed with people, and the air was thick with tension. Elites from various schools were either silently reciting their lessons, making final checks on their equipment, or exchanging hushed conversations with their teammates; the atmosphere was so tense it felt like you could wring water out of it.

When Shi Xu and Yun Xi appeared at the venue in their matching team uniforms, they attracted a lot of attention. Shi Xu, needless to say, was always the center of attention due to his handsome and aloof appearance and his already established reputation. Standing next to him, Yun Xi was no longer the easily overlooked "underachiever." Her eyes were bright, her back was straight, and she exuded a calm and confident strength. Standing next to Yun Xi, there was a strange harmony and compatibility between them.

They quickly found their exhibition area and began finalizing their equipment. Everything went smoothly until the judges took their turn at their booth.

The leader was a middle-aged male professor with a serious expression and sharp eyes. He picked up the project brochure, and after flipping through a few pages, his brows furrowed.

“This data fusion algorithm,” he pointed to a page, his tone skeptical, “I recall a paper published last month in the journal *International Journal of Intelligent Systems* that proposed a similar core concept. How do you prove your originality? Or rather, how do you ensure you haven’t been…inspired?”

This question was extremely pointed, almost directly pointing to the edge of academic misconduct. The eyes of the other participants and judges around them immediately turned to him.

Shi Xu's heart sank. This was a continuation of the previous "technical dispute" phone call! They had indeed tampered with the judges, or at least influenced some judges' preconceived notions.

Just as Shixu was about to speak and refute him with rigorous technical terms, Yunxi stepped forward half a step, with a perfectly appropriate, respectful but not servile smile on his face.

"Hello teacher, you must be referring to the paper by Dr. Smith's team, right?" She spoke steadily and clearly. "We have carefully studied that paper. Their core concept is indeed brilliant, but it mainly solves the problem of fusing multi-source heterogeneous data under ideal channels. Our algorithm, on the other hand, focuses on solving the problem of dynamic adaptation and fault tolerance under non-ideal environments. These are two different application scenarios and optimization directions."

As she spoke, she skillfully brought up the prepared comparative analysis charts and data models and projected them onto the display screen next to her.

"Look, these are the boundary conditions of the model in Dr. Smith's paper, and these are the environmental noise and signal attenuation data we encountered in our actual tests... Our algorithm here introduces a brand-new adaptive filtering and confidence weighting mechanism, which is entirely designed to deal with complex real-world situations. This part of the core code and theoretical derivation was completed independently by us, and the relevant proofs have been submitted to the organizing committee for review and approval in advance."

She spoke eloquently, with clear logic and solid evidence, not only dispelling the doubts but also highlighting the innovative aspects and practical value of their project. Her composure and confidence even brought a hint of surprise and admiration to the otherwise serious judges.

Shi Xu added a few key technical details, the two working together seamlessly. The judge who had asked the question carefully examined the comparative data, his skepticism gradually fading, replaced by a thoughtful expression. He nodded, not pressing the issue further, and instead began asking about other technical details.

A potential crisis was averted by the two working together, and even turned into an opportunity to showcase the project's depth and the team's capabilities.

The subsequent demonstrations and Q&A sessions went exceptionally smoothly. Their meticulously prepared project, with its unique innovation, solid theoretical foundation, and perfect live demonstration, captivated most of the judges present. As the last judge left their booth, Shixu and Yunxi exchanged a glance, both seeing a sense of relief and... the glimmer of victory in each other's eyes.

Unbeknownst to them, somewhere in the venue, Shi Zhiyuan, watching everything through the internal surveillance screen, expressionlessly closed his laptop screen. The obstacles he had meticulously set up seemed to have achieved their intended effect.

Further away, Shi Chongyuan, having learned of the situation from his assistant's report, merely gave a faint "hmm," his expression unreadable. But laid out before him was a brief introduction to Shi Xu's project.
