11. Ives's House
Even if I am beaten to death, I must complete the task that my father gave me.
That letter must be delivered to the person in charge of the Ives family.
Normally, it would not be the case for an ordinary student like Su Liu to alarm the healer.
But for some reason, the school sent a senior healer to treat Su Liu.
He was supposed to stay in the hospital for at least a month, but with the full treatment of the healer, Su Liu was discharged in just a week.
Taking advantage of the weekend, Su Liu took a public train to the imperial capital where Ives's family lived.
The imperial capital is very beautiful. Unlike the barren and primitive K-72 planet, the entire city is filled with a gorgeous sci-fi feel.
Su Liu had no time to appreciate the beautiful scenery. He was just drowsy on the skytrain and almost missed his stop.
It was already afternoon when we arrived at the Ives family mansion.
Looking at the castle-like building in front of him that was so magnificent and elegant that it made him jealous, Su Liu was dumbfounded, thinking that there was no way he could get in smoothly today.
She walked nervously to the iron gate and rang the doorbell.
A male voice came from the intercom, "What's going on?"
"Hello, I'm here to deliver a letter. Can I meet the head of the Ives family?"
"Excuse me, who are you?"
"My name is Su Liu, I'm from Planet K-72, and I'm Zhang Mingzhu's...daughter."
"Please wait a moment."
The sun was a little bright, and Su Liu squatted in the shade, wondering hesitantly whether she would be kicked out as someone looking for trouble.
But in less than five minutes, the beautiful iron gate opened.
An old man with silver hair and wearing a black suit walked out, like a wealthy butler in a British TV series, and bowed to Su Liu very gentlemanly.
"Miss Su Liu, I'm sorry to have kept you waiting. Please follow me."
Su Liu was a little surprised.
Where did my father come from that the Ives family could receive a little village girl from a remote planet?
In the magnificent reception room, Su Liu touched the soft sofa cushion and wondered how much it was worth.
She was lost in thought when someone walked in.
"Ms. Su Liu, huh? Sorry to have kept you waiting."
Su Liu looked up and saw a young man wearing linen gray silk pajamas and with messy hair.
The man yawned and sat down on the sofa, crossing his legs lazily and casually, causing his pajamas to open a little, revealing his muscular wheat-colored chest muscles.
"I've been quite busy lately and just happened to be catching up on some sleep. I hope I didn't make you wait impatiently."
He has a pair of crescent-shaped eyes, and his dark brown pupils are like melancholy cat's eyes. Coupled with his smiling expression, he has a quality that is both innocent and romantic.
However, Su Liu felt from the bottom of his heart that this seemingly simple and handsome man was not easy to get along with. He might be like a cat, with the most arrogant and aloof nature beneath the disguise of cuteness.
"No, I came at the wrong time and disturbed you."
"My name is Ansel Eavis. I'm not the head of the Eavis family you're looking for. The old man isn't home." The man smiled harmlessly. "If you trust me, you can tell me what you want."
Su Liu took out the letter and said, "Before my father Zhang Mingzhu passed away, he asked me to deliver this letter to the person in charge of the Ives family."
The butler in a suit took it with both hands and handed it to Ansel.
The envelope was sealed. Ansel looked at it for a few seconds and then smiled at Su Liu.
"Since it's for the person in power, I can't open it. I'll send someone to deliver it to the old man as soon as possible. If you're not in a hurry, you can stay here until tomorrow and wait for the result."
Su Liu still has classes to attend, so he has to rush back to school.
After she declined, Ansel didn't force her to stay, but politely had someone escort her out.
After she left, Ansel played with the envelope, his tone cold.
"Zhang Mingzhu, who is that?"
The deacon answered irrelevantly, "I will immediately arrange for someone to deliver the letter to the master."
Ansel smiled, "Because you said Zhang Mingzhu was an old acquaintance of the old man, I only received her. I hope you don't have Alzheimer's disease and mistakenly remembered her, making me waste so much time in vain."
At the Mahajaya Military School, Su Liu learned that only two or three students from her original Class 3 survived.
Because Class 3 no longer exists, they were assigned to other classes.
Su Liu was assigned to Class 1. As soon as she entered the classroom, the whole class surrounded her and asked her about what happened in the breeding city that day.
Su Liu didn’t really want to recall those things, but her new classmates were too enthusiastic, so she had to give a brief description.
Although she only spoke lightly, the students listened as if they were listening to a story with many twists and turns. Every time she finished a sentence, they would all exclaim "Wow" and listen with great concentration and fascination.
Su Liu was a little embarrassed and quickly ended the topic.
When the bell rang, Yan Ziyan in the back seat poked her and smiled playfully.
"We are in the same class."
Su Liu nodded.
At least there's someone I know, which is nice.
In class, the teacher mentioned the upcoming first monthly exam.
Only then did Su Liu realize that she had been in the military academy for a month.
The letter has been delivered to Ives's home, completing the first mission.
Next, it’s time to seek revenge on Zhang Yanchen.
At the age of 16, because of the forced marriage policy, she was sent to the Zhang family as a "child bride."
Zhang Yanchen liked her at first and thought it was nice to have an assigned little wife.
Zhang Mingzhu strongly disapproved of this marriage and felt that Zhang Yanchen was not a good match for Su Liu.
But the policy was written into the law, and no matter how many times Zhang Mingzhu went to the Marriage Bureau, there was nothing he could do.
At that time, Zhang Yanchen was still in military school and the expenses were huge.
Because of several natural disasters, K-72 is poor and backward, and there are no extra job opportunities for the people.
In order to ensure that Zhang Yanchen could successfully complete his studies at the military academy, Zhang Mingzhu had to do a lot of odd jobs to make money. During the most difficult times, the gray-haired old man even had to sell blood.
Su Liu couldn't bear to see his father work so hard, so he also did a lot of work, working day and night, hoping to get money to subsidize Zhang Yanchen.
Zhang Mingzhu didn't allow her to spend money on Zhang Yanchen, and asked her to save it for herself so that she could have support in the future.
But she was reluctant to let Zhang Mingzhu sell blood, so she always secretly transferred money to Zhang Yanchen, asking him not to ask Zhang Mingzhu for money all the time.
Zhang Yanchen was so moved that he promised Su Liu every time he called her that when he graduated and joined the army, he would marry her and let her live a good life.
Su Liu had no expectations of him, was ignorant, and was very resistant to love and marriage.
I only hope that he can be filial to his father, make more money, and not let the old man work so hard.
Two years later, Zhang Mingzhu graduated from the military academy and somehow met the purification technician Lin Roufang.
He completely abandoned Su Liu and Zhang Mingzhu, not going home or calling, as if he had completely forgotten about them.
The thought of being forced into marriage made him feel even more disgusted with Su Liu. Even when he was stationed on K-72 planet with the army, he never came home to visit.
On the day the beast attacked, he actually brought Lin Roufang home to confront Su Liu.
Planetary law stipulates that a marriage can only be divorced after at least three years of marriage, and those who violate it will be imprisoned for three years.
Zhang Yanchen didn't want to go to jail, but he forced Su Liu to take the initiative to cancel the engagement and send Su Liu to jail.
If it weren't for the beast, the powerless Su Liu would not be able to resist Zhang Yanchen, the second lieutenant, and might really be in jail now.
Su Liu did not regret her efforts. At least every time she sent money to Zhang Yanchen, her father would have to sell blood less.
She only hated Zhang Yanchen for being so heartless and disloyal that he even abandoned her father.
In the end, she couldn't even buy a coffin for her father.
