35. After that day

35. After that day

The dazzling sunlight shone in, and Su Liu hummed comfortably like a cat curled up in the corridor, then stretched his limbs.

The woman opened the window a crack, and the lush greenery accompanied by the chirping of cicadas and frogs filled the room.

Su Liu's bed is next to the woods. Every summer, the bed is covered with emerald green, which is refreshing and full of vitality.

"A new sister is coming today. Liuliu, come and help the teacher greet her." The woman came over and gently held Su Liu's face. "Are you still sleepy? Did you go to the agricultural base to help last night?"

Mom teacher?

Su Liu rubbed his palm against hers, closing his eyes and enjoying the touch comfortably.

"Okay, stop acting like a spoiled brat and get up." The woman urged with a smile.

Su Liu slowly got up after a while and sat beside the bed.

The woman cleaned the room roughly and tidied up Su Liu's messy little bookshelf. Then she said to Su Liu, "The new sister has Down syndrome. Liu Liu, please be more patient, okay?"

Su Liu yawned while hugging the snow-white pillow, and nodded with drooping eyelids.

The teachers treated them all very gently, so she was willing to treat the new sister even more gently, even if communication was not easy and even if it took a lot of time.

Suddenly, the door was pushed open and a boy rushed in.

"Su Liu, are you still sleeping? Are you a lazy pig? Little lazy pig, little lazy pig, you will be served on the table during the New Year."

"You came into the girls' dormitory again!" She angrily pulled her skirt down a little and called out a name, "**!"

"Who wants to look at you? We are different species and have different aesthetics. Do you know that, you yellow-haired female gorilla?" The boy smiled and made a face, but was given a slap on the face by the woman.

The woman grabbed the boy's ear and pulled him out, scolding him for a few words. Then she turned back to Su Liu and said, "Liuliu, someone else is coming tonight. We may have to go out with them. You take care of the house with your brothers and sisters."

Su Liu nodded obediently and watched his mother and teacher drag the boy away as usual. The boy walked backwards, shouting that it was unfair.

It was really no different from any other day. Everything was just as I remembered. It was a very ordinary day.

She should get up, eat something, read a book, and clean up.

I helped my younger brothers and sisters take a bath, wash clothes, play games with them, tell them stories, and then went to the agricultural base to help and exchange some food for them.

After this weekend, I should go back to school, study hard, and find a good job after graduation to reduce the burden on the orphanage.

What went wrong?

The beautiful scene before her eyes was sucked away like a whirlpool, and she fell into darkness again.

What happened after that day?

Has the new sister arrived? Did she go to receive her?

Who came in the evening? Where did the dean and teachers go?

Why was she running on the road where cicadas were chirping, as if she was running away from something terrible, and fell heavily while running?

And why would he wake up from the turbulent river and face this completely different new world alone?

Su Liu couldn't remember it at all.

Those dusty memories, which I had deliberately avoided thinking about, now came flooding back like a tide.

Longing, fear, confusion, loneliness, and all the negative emotions that had been suppressed for too long began to be released.

Su Liu curled up tightly in the darkness and heard herself screaming hysterically.

Many people held down her hands and feet, shouting something, and then someone injected her with the cold liquid with a certain smell that she hated the most.

She didn't know where she got the strength from, but she struggled like a reckless bull, trying to break free from the restraints, tearing off all the medical equipment on her body, and stumbling forward.

Just like that night, the moonlight was so bright that it illuminated the flat country road as if it were daytime.

She gasped heavily and dragged her exhausted body towards the bright moon, shouting and calling for help, crying until she collapsed in despair.

No one responded.

At the end of the corridor filled with the smell of disinfectant, someone was standing there, blocking her way.

She slowly stopped and tilted her head to look at the man, unable to distinguish his facial features.

However, that cold face, which was even more expressionless than a dead person, made her feel dazed.

The memory came back a little.

The flames shot up into the sky, and even the grass turned red like a river of blood.

And there was a group of people looking at her expressionlessly behind the twisted and scorching air waves.

It's them!

Her eyes widened, and her legs, heavier than lead, started running again. She pounced on the man like a mad and wild bull, and hit him hard in the chest.

At the moment of contact, the wind lifted their hair and intertwined them ambiguously.

The man briefly made a judgment.

If he remained motionless, the moment she hit his chest, the overwhelming force would have broken his nose or even his skull.

Without much hesitation, the man put his arm around Su Liu's shoulders and leaned back.

When his back hit the cold, hard ground, the smooth floor shattered like a spider web, and at the same time, there was an extremely dull and loud bang that made the floor shake.

The strong impact shattered the man's shoulder bone, but Su Liu in his arms was unharmed.

Su Liu struggled out of his arms, covered in dust and dirt, and glared at him fiercely with hatred.

There was a hint of confusion in his green eyes. Su Liu didn't give him time to react. He pulled his legs together and straddled his waist, his hands pinching his slender and sexy neck.

Die, die, die!

The man frowned slightly and stretched out his hand towards Su Liu's eyebrows.

Do you want to kill her?

Su Liu's eyes were bloodshot. He loosened his hands and bit the man's arm with all his strength. Like a ferocious and cruel hungry wolf hunting, he let out a heavy and fierce roar from his throat.

She tore with all her might, her cheek muscles shaking fiercely from exerting too much force, her head tilting back and shaking violently, tearing off a bloody piece of flesh.

The smell of blood spread in the corridor, and Su Liu let out a whimper of pleasure and satisfaction.

It’s not enough, not enough at all.

She opened her mouth wide again, wanting to bite the arm that was covered in blood.

But just as she lowered her head, she met those emerald green eyes, and it was as if she suddenly woke up from a nightmare, and the madness in her irrational brain faded away a little.

It's so peaceful.

Like a green lake surrounded by dense forests, in the afternoon with dappled sunlight, the lake surface ripples with blue waves due to the breeze, and it is incredibly quiet and gentle.

Isn't it them,?

She gradually lost strength and sat on the man's waist in a daze and at a loss, like a child who had made a mistake.

The man used his good hand to gently wipe the blood from the corner of her mouth.

It was a very comfortable feeling, just like when I was in the orphanage, the teachers would do similar actions for them, comforting them patiently and gently.

Su Liu closed his eyes, and then heard the man ask, "Did you have a nightmare?"

Not a nightmare.

Su Liu thought.

But, I was trapped in a confusing memory.

She was unable to answer and fell into the man's arms, fainting.
