17. Is this marriage necessary?

17. Is this marriage necessary?

"Why, you don't like any of my three children?"

Su Liu said, "I want to be a widow for my fiancé who is still alive."

Victor said, "How can I be a widow if I'm not dead?"

"You'll die sooner or later."

"That makes sense, but unfortunately, I'm a man of my word," Victor said. "Your father is very worried about you, and he's using his friendship with me to ask me to take care of you."

Su Liu didn't know about these past events and didn't want to explore the reasons at the moment.

She grabbed her hair and asked, "Is this marriage necessary?"

"You must stay under the protection of the Ives family." Victor said tactfully.

Su Liu thought of a compromise, "Then wouldn't it be legitimate for you to adopt me as your adopted daughter?"

Victor said calmly, "My adopted daughter is also engaged to my son."

Su Liu: “…”

You see, she said these people have ethical issues.

Seeing that she was very resistant, Victor continued to persuade her.

"To be honest, none of them want to get married, and my huge family business must have someone to inherit. I would be very grateful if you could marry one of them and have children."

Although Su Liu has a strong sense of self-esteem, he is still very self-aware.

Given her background and abilities, she is not even qualified to be a nanny for these three people.

No matter how Su Liu expressed her incompetence, Victor was determined to facilitate her marriage with his son.

She is not allowed to leave until she has chosen a "husband".

Later, Huo Jie was called to the study and roughly understood the whole story.

"Among my three children, you are the least suitable to marry Liuliu. So I hope you can cooperate with me and promote the marriage between your eldest brother or younger brother and Liuliu." Victor said.

Huo Jie was confused: "You dug up her father's ancestral grave?" Otherwise, why would he force someone to marry her?

"I already said it was a child marriage."

Looking at the letter on the table, Huo Jie's eyes showed a questioning look: "What exactly is in the letter? Who is her background that makes you insist on bringing her under the wing of the Ives family?"

Only a fool would believe such an outdated excuse as "childhood marriage". Considering the old man's shrewd personality, there must be some more unknown reasons.

Victor calmly put the letter back into the drawer and continued, "You don't need to know the reason. It won't be you who will marry her. You should think of a way to get one of your brothers to accept her."

Huo Jie didn't want to harm his brothers, so he said, "If you must marry her, we don't mind having another stepmother."

Victor was heartbroken. "How could a mouth with a temperature of 37 degrees Celsius say such cold words? Aren't you afraid that your mother in heaven will be upset?"

"Forcing them to marry women they don't love will only make their mother even more sad."

Victor said, "Anyway, there's no room for negotiation on this matter. Tell them what I mean."

Seeing that his father had made up his mind, Huo Jie knew that the marriage was a done deal and no one could change it.

"What's her name?"

"Su Liu."

Huo Jie's eyes gradually became unfathomable.

In the guest room, Su Liu asked for a telescope and stood at the highest point of the attic to look at the layout of the entire castle.

It's like a maze, and it's hard to find a way out without someone to lead you.

But in order to avoid being "married", you have to escape no matter how difficult it is.

She drew a simple map and planned to run in the dark tonight.

While she was making careful plans, someone leaned lazily against the door, looking at her with hostility.

"What kind of magic potion did you feed that bastard old man to make him make such a ridiculous decision?"

Su Liu turned around and saw Ansel, who had received her when she came to deliver the letter before.

She felt at first sight that this person was extremely difficult to get along with, and now Ansel was too lazy to even pretend, which made him seem even more arrogant and rude.

The thought of marrying such a person made her whole life darken.

"If you're willing to help me escape, I promise I'll never appear before you again."

Ansel sneered, "I've seen plenty of women like you trying to get close to the rich and powerful. You say that, but you're really just trying to get an excuse to get close to me. But unfortunately, I'm not short of women, and I hate them. Your plan has failed."

Su Liu thought he was unreasonable, but then he thought, he did have the capital to be narcissistic.

"Since you don't want to marry me, then don't bother me while I plan my escape."

After saying that, Su Liu concentrated on finding every way out of the castle and didn't bother to pay attention to Ansel the whole time.

Ansel squinted his eyes and looked at her for a long time before leaving.

At nightfall, Su Liu took advantage of the guards downstairs changing shifts, climbed out of the balcony and slid down the water pipe.

The landing went smoothly, but she ignored the ubiquitous surveillance.

Before she ran five meters away, she was discovered by the guards, who even cooperated with the drone to "capture" her.

"She is on the second floor of the ancient attic, hiding under the mural."

Su Liu sighed, climbed over the window and jumped to the stairs to the first floor.

A warning came from the drone overhead, "Please be careful, the ancient attic has been in disrepair for a long time, and the stairs may be broken."

Su Liu raised his head and cursed: "Thank you!"

As soon as I ran out of the ancient attic, the drone continued to broadcast.

"Everyone, please pay attention! Miss Su Liu has entered the second passage of Monet Gardens."

"Don't be too rough. Invite Miss Su Liu back gently."

No matter how Su Liu hid, several drones were always hovering in the sky, exposing her every step, and sometimes they would kindly remind her to be careful not to fall.

Although I knew that escaping would not be smooth, I did not expect that there would be no place to hide.

She rushed into the grove, trying to block the drone's sight with the dense treetops.

Although this trick was effective, it deviated from her previously planned escape route.

As she was considering what to do, she heard a rumbling sound behind her.

Turning around, I saw a row of logging trucks with flashing headlights driving in neatly, cutting down all the trees and scaring away countless birds.

The drone hovered over the logging truck and continued to issue warnings.

"Miss Su Liu, please be careful to avoid fallen trees. It's a dark and windy night, so please be careful of hidden pits."

Su Liu was dumbfounded.

Is it that so?

Is it that serious?

Su Liu, who had been actively trying to escape, finally felt a little desperate. Just when she was about to give up, she felt a strong wind coming from behind.

Immediately, countless silver lights transformed into the sharpest weapons, shooting towards the drone with overwhelming force, instantly eliminating all the pursuers.

Steady footsteps came from behind, and a shadow fell over Su Liu's head.

She turned and looked up, meeting a pair of cold emerald green eyes.

The man smiled gently, "Have you offended the owner of this house? Do you want me to take you away?"

Su Liu was unsure of his identity, and felt that the slightly fake smile did not match his sharp eyes.

But he said he would take her away.

If I go with him, I might be abducted and have my heart and kidneys dug out, but if I stay and get married, I won't have a good ending either.

After weighing the pros and cons for a moment, Su Liu said, "Take me and escape!"

The private airship was parked not far away. Su Liu was grabbed by the scruff of the neck by the man and flew away on the private airship.

On the distant bell tower, Victor put down his telescope.

"It went very smoothly."

The deacon stood behind him and asked respectfully, "Will he realize that you chose him from the beginning?"

"By the time he reacted, it was too late."

He must become willing and protect her until the end of his life before the world discovers her.

On the private airship, Su Liu looked at the buildings on the ground gradually shrinking and finally breathed a sigh of relief.

She said to the man sitting there, "Thank you, what's your name?"
