For her son's wedding, Lady Guarjia put a lot of thought into inviting many people to this flower-viewing banquet.
When Yun Qing and Suo Chuoluo arrived, quite a few people had already come.
Guarjia naturally wouldn't neglect their hospitality. It would have been fine if she had only entertained Linjia, since Guarjia knew that Linjia was biased towards the Lin family. But she really didn't dare to be impolite to her niece Yun Qing and her niece-in-law Suochuoluo.
After all, the Niohuru family was more powerful than the Lin family, and Yun Qing's husband was now favored by the emperor, so she naturally knew how to choose.
Guarjia treated the two of them with great hospitality, which made Yun Qing feel particularly uncomfortable. Normally when she came to the Lin residence, she would not be neglected, but she would never be treated with such enthusiasm.
It would be strange if she could get used to it!
However, Guarjia's enthusiasm didn't last long before she went to greet others, and the two breathed a sigh of relief.
Yun Qing and Suo Chuoluo were both married, so in principle they wouldn't be with unmarried princesses, but there are always exceptions.
Yun Qing was seen by Chang Miao, who is now married and a nun. She mostly thinks about the interests of her husband's family. Now that Zhu Tao is in the limelight, Chang Miao wants to bring the sisters closer together.
So they took Yunqing to the small garden. There was no one else in the garden except Yunqing's cousins, some married and some unmarried.
Chang Mian was naturally among them.
When Chang Mian saw Yun Qing approaching, she felt somewhat uncomfortable. She knew exactly what she had done. To be honest, what she had done would be considered shameless by today's standards. She felt ashamed as if she were naked in front of Yun Qing.
Chang Miao started chatting with everyone, her sisters and cousins, and on the surface, things seemed very harmonious.
After chatting for a while, Chang Miao asked, "What's wrong with Mianmian? Why isn't she saying anything? She's usually not very talkative, but she does speak up sometimes! What's wrong with her today?"
Chang Xiu smiled and added, "Sister Mianmian isn't on a blind date, she's probably thinking about this too!"
Chang Miao smiled and said, "Is that so? By the way, when I came back today, I heard from Mother that your marriage is almost settled. The family you're looking for is well-educated, and your second uncle carefully found them for you. What do you think of that person, Mianmian?"
Chang Mian naturally didn't think much of it; it wasn't that she liked Zhu Tao, but rather that she was unwilling to accept it.
She didn't want to talk, so she simply lowered her head and remained silent.
Seeing her expression, Chang Miao assumed she was embarrassed and said, "Why are you being shy? It's alright for us sisters to talk about marriage matters."
Chang Xiu disliked her half-sister Chang Mian the most, finding her pretentious manner extremely annoying.
So Changxiu said in a rather sarcastic tone, "Sister Miao doesn't know, but Sister Mian's partner was handpicked by Father. Sister Mian is probably secretly delighted!"
Chang Miao knew that the two had a bad relationship, and was afraid that they would quarrel, so she simply changed the subject and shifted the topic to Yun Qing.
"How have you been lately, cousin? The last time I saw you was when your child turned one month old. I was supposed to attend my uncle's birthday banquet, but something came up at home and I couldn't make it, so I couldn't go. It's been quite a while since I last saw you. How have you been lately?"
Yun smiled and said, "Thank you for your concern, cousin. Everything is fine at the manor, and the children are all well."
Chang Miao: "That's good. Have you chosen a name for the baby yet?"
Yun Qing: "We've taken the name. Our master named him Siyuan."
Chang Miao muttered to herself, "Siyuan, Siyuan, careful thinking and looking far ahead, what a good name! He will surely be as successful as his father in the future."
When Yun Qing heard others praising her child, she was naturally happy, regardless of whether it was just politeness or not. So she smiled and replied, "It's not as good as my cousin says. The child is still young, and the future is uncertain. Right now, I just hope that the child can grow up well, and I'll be content. By the way, let's not talk about me anymore. My cousin's son, Hao, should be able to walk by now, right?"
Chang Miao was lucky; she became pregnant not long after getting married and had a son as her first child. The baby is now almost ten months old.
"He can't walk yet, and we're planning to start teaching him to walk. He does manage to utter a word or two from time to time."
Chang Miao and Yun Qing had a good chat, and soon after, Suo Chuoluo arrived.
She came to find Yun Qing.
When Chang Miao saw Suo Chuoluo coming over, she smiled and said, "My cousin-in-law is here?"
Suochuoluo said with a smile, "It was your sister-in-law who interrupted your conversation."
Chang Miao: "How could that be? We're too busy welcoming you, cousin-in-law. Please sit down and let's talk."
Sochoro said, "Alright, then I won't stand on ceremony." With that, Sochoro sat down.
Suochuoluo mainly chatted with Chang Miao, occasionally exchanging a few words with her, and then the conversation would turn to Chang Mian. This was also Suochuoluo's purpose in coming.
"By the way, Cousin Changmian, I heard from our grandfather the other day that he ran into you outside. You were dressed as a man that day, and it seems that your cousin Baqi bumped into you. Are you alright now?"
As soon as Suochuoluo finished speaking, everyone turned their attention to Chang Mian.
Chang Mian felt a little scared, but she tried her best to remain calm and said, "It's nothing. I just had to go out that day, and my aunt said it was inconvenient for a woman to go out, so I wore men's clothing."
Suochuoluo: "Is that so? I heard from our master that you were cheated out of one hundred taels of silver. Did you get it back?"
Chang Mian: "No, I'm a woman, and I didn't dare to report it to the authorities. After I found out I had been scammed, I asked someone to investigate, but that person is probably hiding very well, so there were no results."
Chang Xiu felt something was off: "Sister Mian, Father is really generous to you, giving you a hundred taels of silver. You didn't even say a word when you were cheated. Do you really think the money in the house grows on trees?"
