Jin Xiaoxiao originally planned to go find Wu Yiming, but Zhao Jiaojiao interrupted her, and when she called out again, he was nowhere to be seen.
Jin Xiaoxiao didn't see Wu Yiming, nor did she want to go up now. She wasn't very interested in the conversation between the elders, so she decided to wander around instead.
Sure enough, Jin Xiaoxiao was immediately drawn in as soon as she started browsing. Although the catalog was exquisitely made, it was still just something on paper, and it couldn't compare to the exquisite things she saw with her own eyes.
Jin Xiaoxiao had some money, and she managed to pick out two items along the way. It wasn't that she didn't want to buy more, but her finances didn't allow it. The items were good, but the prices were truly dazzling.
Jin Xiaoxiao didn't intend to go looking for Wu Yiming, but she ran into him instead.
Wu Yiming looked at Jin Xiaoxiao and said with a smile, "Miss Jin."
Jin Xiaoxiao said with a smile, "Young Madam Liu."
Wu Yiming looked at the things in the hands of the maid behind Jin Xiaoxiao and said, "It's rare that Miss Jin would take a fancy to these."
Jin Xiaoxiao: "The items in the young mistress's shop are all very rare, and I like them very much."
When Wu Yiming heard that she liked it, she smiled and said, "It's good that you like it. Mother said that you are your husband's junior sister. If you like it, you must come often in the future."
After finishing speaking, Wu Yiming said to a female shopkeeper beside him, "This is a young lady from a family with whom we have a long-standing friendship. Please recognize her. Next time Miss Jin comes, please treat her well."
“What you say is true, Master.”
The female shopkeeper smiled at Jin Xiaoxiao and said, "Miss Jin, you are welcome to visit us often."
Jin Xiaoxiao: "The items in the young mistress's shop are all extremely rare and precious. I will definitely come to bother you more often in the future."
Wu Yiming was overjoyed: "Then it's settled, Miss Jin, you must come often."
As Wu Yiming and Jin Xiaoxiao were talking, someone came over and whispered a few words in Wu Yiming's ear. Wu Yiming looked surprised and then said to Jin Xiaoxiao, "I'm sorry, I should be with Miss Jin, but her family has come. Jinniang, please entertain Miss Jin properly for me."
Jin Xiaoxiao: "Young Madam, your business is more important."
Wu Yiming left Jinniang to entertain Jin Xiaoxiao before she herself departed.
"Have the Emperor and Empress really come?"
"My lord, would I lie to you? But His Majesty and the Empress forbid anyone from disturbing them."
Wu Yiming understood, and then said, "Mother has come too."
Wu Yiming was referring to the Uya clan. She had officially changed her address and, now that she had been elevated to a higher banner, she was considered to be from the same branch as the Fucha family.
"The Fujin (principal wife) has also come, but she is not with the Empress. The Fujin probably does not know that the Empress is here. This servant heard that the Fujin must know that the master's shop is opening today, so she brought many Fujin and Gege (principal wives and concubines) to support the occasion."
Wu Yiming understood Wu Ya's intentions. Although her status had been elevated, she was still a palace maid, which made her somewhat awkward in the circles of noble families. Wu Ya's bringing people here today was probably partly for her benefit.
"Since it's inconvenient for the Emperor and Empress to meet, let's go see Mother first."
"Understood, the Princess Consort is currently in private room number two."
Wu Yiming understood that Private Room No. 2 was reserved for the Fucha family by Wu Yiming, while Private Room No. 1 was naturally in the hands of the Emperor and Empress.
She personally gave Wuya a No. 2 private room from No. 1 to No. 10, and basically gave the rest to Yinzhen and Yunrong to handle. Her husband's family's private room was No. 10.
It's considered one of the best private rooms, since private rooms numbered one through ten will inevitably be restricted to the powerful and wealthy in the future.
If the department store's auction becomes popular, Room 11 will become an extremely rare place in the future.
Wu Yiming sent someone to inform his mother-in-law, and then went to private room number two.
As soon as Wu Yiming entered, she saw that there were quite a few people sitting in the private room. Before her marriage, Uya had taken her to several banquets. She had a good memory and recognized a few of the people there.
Wu Yiming bowed to the elders in the private room. Wuya smiled and asked her to sit next to her. The people Wuya brought today were all sensible and discreet, and naturally they wouldn't say anything inappropriate in front of Wu Yiming.
So the private room was filled with a harmonious and joyful atmosphere.
The wives in this room are not from her husband's family. Wives who can associate with Uya must be wealthy. The department store has novel items, so the money goes out very quickly.
Wu Yiming didn't say she wouldn't accept money, but she would still give some discounts to the people brought by Wuya.
Madam Liu also knew about Wuya's arrival. Although she knew that Wuya was her daughter-in-law's mother, she didn't rush to marry her. Wu Yiming had talked to her about his relationship with the Fucha family, and Madam Liu basically understood that although they were nominally mother and daughter, their relationship was more of a business partnership.
So when they found out that Wu Yiming had gone to the Wuya clan, they didn't think much of it. However, when the people Wu Yiming sent were talking, someone nearby overheard them.
The man smiled and said, "Madam Liu is quite magnanimous. Why didn't you bring Consort Fucha along? Perhaps you look down on us?"
Madam Liu glanced at the person who spoke. She had indeed gotten along well with the person who came with her today, but the person who spoke was the wife of a friend of her husband's. Since she had just arrived in the capital, her husband had asked her to take care of her, so he invited her along today. Unexpectedly, she was quite talkative and seemed rather muddle-headed.
Madam Liu said, "You're overthinking it. Your mother-in-law is here today to congratulate her daughter. Our Liu family isn't the kind to mistreat our daughters-in-law. If a daughter-in-law marries into the Liu family is filial, what's wrong with her getting close to her mother? I heard that Madam Zheng's eldest daughter is also getting married soon. Does Madam Zheng hope that if her daughter runs into you outside after marriage, she'll pretend not to know you?"
