Chapter 284 Rescue Again

Just as Xu Nian and his men broke down the door, Guo Shu was trying to run out. The two sides didn't bump into each other, and Xu Nian quickly shielded Guo Shu behind him.

Seeing this, Duan Kun said unhappily, "Who are you people? Get out of here and mind your own business."

Xu Nian said with a smile, "I'm afraid that won't work. I'll take Young Master Guo with me." After saying that, Xu Nian turned his head away, ignoring Duan Kun.

Duan Kun was completely bewildered and quickly said, "Who are you people? How dare you be so arrogant?"

Xu Nian found it amusing. He was probably more arrogant than Xu Nian himself. How could Xu Nian say such a thing? Was he not afraid of being laughed at?

Xu Nian retorted sarcastically, "I'm not as good as you."

Xu Nian then brought a bewildered Guo Shu to Bobo and the others.

Guo Shu looked at the people in front of her. Well, she didn't recognize any of them.

However, he was also aware of his situation. If it weren't for the person in front of him, who knew what Duan Kun would do if he went crazy?

Guo Shu said with lingering fear, "Thank you for saving me, young master."

Bobo said, "Young Master Guo, you're too kind."

Guo Shu was somewhat puzzled. He had only been in the capital for a short time, and this person seemed to be either rich or noble. He had never met such a person before, so how did he know that his surname was Guo?

That's a bit strange.

"Does the young master know me?"

Bobo laughed, knowing his doubts, and said, "I've been to Jinghai County."

Guo Shu then understood.

The Guo family was quite well-known in Jinghai County. She wasn't exactly a sheltered young lady, and she often appeared in public. Perhaps she had bumped into them by chance, but they just hadn't said a word.

Bobo asked curiously, "Why did you come to the capital?"

Bobo was also quite curious. He had looked up Guo Shu and found that he was quite knowledgeable, but not yet qualified to participate in the imperial examinations in the capital.

Guo Shu had a good impression of Bobo, her savior, and replied, "My uncle found me an academy and sent me to the capital to study."

So that's how it is. Although Jinghai County is not exactly a declining place, its education is still inferior to that of the capital. In particular, the capital has a world-famous bookstore with countless books, a place that scholars dream of visiting.

Guo Shu's uncle knew his son's qualifications. He wouldn't say he was spoiled, but his talent was limited, and he wasn't diligent enough. He was well-behaved, but he couldn't shoulder the burden of bringing prosperity to the family.

In addition, because of Duan Kun's incident, the eldest branch of the Guo family felt guilty, so Guo Shu's eldest uncle went to great lengths to get Guo Shu a letter of recommendation, allowing him to study in the capital, at a rather good academy.

Guo Shu said, "I forgot to ask my benefactor's surname."

Bobo said, "My surname is Luo."

"I will never forget Young Master Luo's kindness today. If you need anything in the future, just send someone to let me know, and I will do my best to help."

Bobo said, "There's no need for that. It's nothing serious, just a small favor."

Guo Shu's attitude was firm: "It is a small matter for Young Master Luo, but for me it is a matter of life and death. I have studied for more than ten years, and I should repay even the smallest kindness with the greatest gratitude, let alone the kindness of saving my life."

Seeing his attitude, Bobo couldn't refuse, saying, "Okay." But she didn't really feel she needed his help.

Of course, considering Guo Shu's age, if he is truly capable, there might be a future relationship between him and his ruler. However, for now, the relationship between the two is not very close.

One was a prince, and the other was a scholar. If it weren't for this unexpected event, the two of them shouldn't have had this conversation.

Bobo then asked, "Do you need me to take you home?"

Guo Shu knew he meant well, after all, Duan Kun seemed like someone who would let things go easily.

"Thank you for your help, but there's no need for that. I'll go to the Duan residence next, and then I'll return to Jinghai County."

Bobo immediately understood his intention. Going to the Duan residence was simply to let them know about Duan Kun's situation. Duan Kun was the eldest son of the Duan family, and he was related to the Duan family by marriage. His future was uncertain. Even if the Guo family was not as good as the Duan family, the Duan family could not possibly remain silent after Duan Kun did such a thing.

As long as the Duan family can restrict Duan Kun's freedom, Guo Shu can safely return to Jinghai County.

Furthermore, once this matter becomes public, the Duan family will inevitably know that the two are not on good terms, and the Guo family will also know. That will then become a matter for the adults. As long as the Duan family does not want to sever this marriage ties, Guo Shu's personal safety will be guaranteed when he returns from Jinghai County next year.

Thinking about it this way, Guo Shu had a plan in mind. She was smart and not pedantic, and Bo Bo's impression of her improved a lot.

Guo Shutong said goodbye to Bobo and the others and left. Bobo instructed Xu Nian to send someone to keep an eye on things. Since they had already saved this person, they should see it through. Bobo thought Duan Kun was not someone easy to deal with.

After Guo Shu left, An'an only knew that a stranger had spoken to her brother, but Bei Bei was different. She watched Guo Shu's departing figure and asked curiously, "How did brother know him?"

Bobo: "Why are you asking these questions?"

Beibei said, "It's just that I find it a bit strange because my brother seems to be quite protective of him."

Bobo laughed and said, "It's not that I'm protecting him. I helped him once on a whim, but he didn't know it. He's quite talented, and I just happened to see him being bullied today, so I just helped him out."

Beibei added, "But my brother also sent people to escort him back."

"To save a person, one must see them through to the end; to see a Buddha off, one must see him off to the Western Paradise."

"All right!"

Beibei was just curious, and after getting this answer, she gave up and followed Bobo to the bookstore.

Meanwhile, Guo Shu arrived safely at the Duan residence.

When Guo Shu came to the capital, Madam Guo sent a letter to her family, hoping they would take care of her, since Duan Kun was indeed in the wrong for what he did.
