Chapter 307 Parting

It's strange, but neither Zhang Tingyu nor Qiu Wen were idle people. After confirming their relationship, they met only a handful of times.

Even though Zhang Tingyu was away taking the imperial examinations for such a long time, and even if he hadn't gone, they probably wouldn't have met many times, the thought of not being able to see each other made the geographical distance feel much greater than the temporal distance.

"Your Highness, everything has been arranged."

Bobo looked at Zhang Tingyu and said, "You did well. Go back and take the test again. Don't be nervous."

Zhang Tingyu wasn't nervous, but he was a little worried about things here. Bobo was in control of the overall situation, so nothing unexpected would happen, but he was still worried about Qiu Wen.

This was the first time Zhang Tingyu had felt this way. He felt homesick when he left home and his parents, but he wasn't worried because he knew there were many people in his family who were more capable than him, whether it was his father or his brother.

Because of their presence, he can stay here without any distractions, but Qiu Wen is different.

He knew Qiu Wen's situation. Although she was not an orphan, her blood relatives in the Qiu family were the ones who hurt her the most.

If he hadn't found out in time, Qiu Wen would probably have been in a terrible state from all the schemes.

His departure is uncertain, and who knows what the Qiu family will do? In the end, they are still worried and concerned.

Zhang Tingyu: "Thank you for your concern, Your Highness. I will do my best in the exam. But I will have to trouble Your Highness again."

Bobo could roughly guess some of it: "You say."

"This servant has sent people to keep an eye on the Qiu family's movements. If needed, I hope the eldest prince can lend a hand."

Bobo laughed and said, "I know, don't worry about that. I'll definitely protect your heart from being hurt."

With Bobo's words, Zhang Tingyu's worries lessened somewhat. It was impossible for him not to worry at all; he knew Bobo's capabilities, and that she could definitely protect someone.

After saying that, she sighed and said, "Back when we were in school, you were the most aloof person. I thought that someone with your personality would probably need Madam Zhang to find you a partner. I didn't expect you to be so quick and find someone yourself. I really didn't expect that!"

Zhang Tingyu thought to himself, "Not only did you not expect this, but I didn't expect it either!"

Zhang Tingyu was indeed gentle, but those who knew him well knew that he was somewhat aloof at heart. He himself didn't have any particular thoughts about this. The reason he was able to refuse his cousin so decisively was simply because he didn't want to have a family so early.

Because I haven't figured it out yet, it doesn't matter.

Zhang Tingyu could imagine what would have happened if he hadn't met Qiu Wen. He would probably have married a woman his parents thought was gentle and filial, and lived a peaceful and respectful life together, perhaps even with his younger brother getting married soon.

He used to think that such a life was fine, but after meeting Qiu Wen, he realized that a flavorful life was much more captivating than plain water. Once you've tasted the flavor, going back to plain water is impossible.

Zhang Tingyu felt genuinely embarrassed after hearing Bobo's plan. After exchanging a few more words, Zhang Tingyu left.

After leaving, he naturally went to Qiu Wen's place. After finishing his work and handing it over, he naturally had to say goodbye to Qiu Wen properly.

Qiu Wen also knew the date Zhang Tingyu was leaving. This was the last time he came, and Qiu Wen was really reluctant to part with him.

Zhang Tingyu never imagined that he could one day care about a woman and even make many changes for her. Qiu Wen also never imagined that one day she would be with a boy in his teens and be so inseparable from him.

Although she wasn't exactly indifferent, she didn't consider herself the kind of person who prioritized love above all else. Before meeting him, she thought she might fall in love with someone, but she would never develop feelings that would last a lifetime.

But after meeting her, Qiu Wen desperately hoped that life would stay like this forever.

The essence of humanity is the truth—what a slap in the face!

"Wen'er, don't worry, after this imperial examination I will tell my family about our relationship, and then I will come to propose to you."

Qiu Wen said, "I'll wait for you to come back."

After pouring out their hearts to each other, the two reluctantly parted ways.

Then Zhang Tingyu left and went directly to his hometown to prepare for the imperial examination.

Qiu Wen's life seemed unchanged after Zhang Tingyu left, but subtle changes occurred.

For example, Luo Xue often sees her young mistress spacing out from time to time, but of course, it doesn't last long, and she wouldn't notice unless she's serving her personally.

And then she would occasionally bring up things that Mr. Zhang had said or done, and then she would show a sweet smile.

...

There are many more examples like this. Luo Xue, with her keen observation, also hoped that Young Master Zhang would return soon.

She could tell that her young mistress was truly in love.

However, it cannot be denied that Luo Xue also had worries. She knew Zhang Gongzi's plan. After the imperial examination, he would come clean with his family. She thought her young lady was perfect in every way, but worldly views were not something she could control. In the end, from the worldly perspective, the young lady and Zhang Gongzi were of different statuses.

"Will Young Master Zhang's family disagree?" This was a concern that Luo Xue had always had.

But seeing that her mistress wasn't in a hurry at all, she became even more anxious.

During Zhang Tingyu's time taking the imperial examinations, Qiu Wen didn't escape unscathed either. The Qiu family was not honest after all; as soon as Master Qiu's business started to improve, they began to set their sights on Qiu Wen.

Ultimately, it's just that they're jealous of Qiu Wen's business. To cover their own tracks, they're using the pretext of Qiu Wen being unfilial, and also because she's of marriageable age, which is why they've become so unscrupulous.
