Yunrong has poor judgment and often makes mistakes when looking at things. She's been tricked a few times, so she's definitely not willing to come alone unless she comes with her brother.
She wasn't particularly interested in antiques or calligraphy; the only reason she came back this time was because of her son.
Yinzhen took Bobo to browse through these antique shops. There were some good things inside, but most of them were fakes. There were only so many good items. In ancient times, there were many people who loved these things, and those who had money and good taste naturally bought the genuine articles.
Yinzhen took Bobo to pick out things, and Yunrong looked around as well. She would take some of the things she thought were good to Yinzhen for his opinion.
Yunrong's family's taste had improved, and most of the things she showed to Yinzhen were genuine.
Yunrong was quite happy and gradually became interested.
A discerning eye is something that requires a lot of observation. The palace uses only the finest things, and the items used in daily life are all rare treasures. Even a quick glance reveals the differences.
Bobo's favorite items are mostly fake. Bobo is still young, and the things in the palace are generally well preserved, so when Bobo chooses things, she chooses them based on their "appearance".
Yinzhen watched Bobo choose without telling her whether her choices were right or wrong. Yinzhen had everything Bobo picked bought. Of course, Yinzhen wouldn't be a sucker for the baby's third-day celebration, so he didn't tell Bobo, but he still had to make it clear to the shopkeeper.
As for why he let Bobo do whatever he wanted, Yinzhen thought that he would take Bobo out a few times every year and let him choose some things himself. When he grew up, he would be able to distinguish between real and fake things.
People should have more experiences.
The family of three spent a lot of time browsing and choosing, and soon it was noon. Bobo hadn't eaten at the restaurant yet. On the trip to Outer Mongolia, they only spent half a day sightseeing before returning to their camp, and they ate there too.
Yinzhen took his wife and children to a restaurant. Bobo was amazed when she went in. The restaurant was crowded. Yinzhen asked for a private room and ordered several signature dishes.
This was Bobo's first time eating out, and she ate very attentively. Of course, the food outside couldn't compare to what she ate in the palace, but it wasn't unpalatable. Bobo is small, so she didn't find it bad, and because it was novel, she ate even more than usual.
Yunrong asked her son, "Is it delicious?"
Bobo nodded: "It's delicious."
Yunrong asked with a smile, "Which is tastier, these or the chicken wings?"
Bobo: "Of course, chicken wings are the best." These are all dishes that you can eat whenever you want, but chicken wings are something that you can only eat if your mother allows it. Rare things always seem precious.
After the three of them had lunch, they went to the jewelry shop. Actually, Yunrong felt it didn't matter whether she went or not. Yinzhen usually had people keep an eye on these shops outside, and if any new styles came out, they would send them to her if someone else sold them.
Yunrong felt it was unnecessary, but Yinzhen felt it was necessary, and Yunrong couldn't persuade Yinzhen otherwise, so she went.
This was Bobo's first time visiting a jewelry shop. The shop was filled with a dazzling array of jewelry, making her dizzy with the sight. Bobo had seen Yunrong's jewelry before, but she had never seen so many pieces of jewelry displayed together before. Bobo thought there were so many things here.
After Yunrong went in, she picked out a few items and planned to leave. Everything went very smoothly, unlike last time when she encountered some difficult people blocking her way.
When Yinzhen returned with his wife and son, it was still early. There was still some time before dinner time when they got back to the palace, so Yinzhen sent Bobo to do her practical assignment.
Bobo may be small, but she has a lot on her mind.
Based on what she saw and felt today, and combined with what her teacher taught her, Bobo had quite a few insights. Bobo writes very slowly, but she recognizes quite a few characters. She writes little by little, and before she knew it, it was time for dinner.
The maidservant attending to you came over and reminded you, "Your Highness, did Her Majesty the Empress ask if you would like to have dinner with her tonight?"
Looking at the unfinished "homework," Bobo said, "Go tell Mother that I'll go to pay my respects and apologize to her tomorrow. I won't be coming for dinner."
Then Bobo started writing furiously.
Bobo usually has dinner with Yunrong without any surprises. When she heard Bobo say that she wouldn't be having dinner, she asked, "What is Bobo doing?"
Bobo's nanny: "Your Majesty, the master is writing down the tasks assigned by the Emperor."
Yunrong then remembered what Yinzhen had said when she left the palace that morning: to ask Bobo to write a reflection on leaving the palace.
He's probably writing something right now! Yunrong had no objection to her son's ambition, and said to the nanny who was serving Bobo, "Don't forget to let Bobo eat something."
Just like his father, Bobo is the kind of kid who, when he wants to do something, tries to finish it in one go, often forgetting to eat and staying up late.
Bobo's nanny said, "This servant will go and prepare some snacks for the master right away."
Yunrong: "Mmm."
Yinzhen now eats dinner very punctually. Not seeing his son, he asked, "Where's Bobo?"
Yunrong: "This wasn't a task you assigned; he's writing it right now!"
Yinzhen thought for a moment before remembering what task he had assigned to Bobo.
Yinzhen smiled and said, "Knowing that you should strive for improvement is a good thing."
Then Yinzhen picked up Yunrong's daughter from her arms and started to tease her.
The next day, Bobo went to the study room for a lesson. Bobo had been writing late into the night, but there were still some things she didn't understand, so she decided to study with someone she knew more about.
After Zhang Ying finished teaching Bo Bo, as usual, Bo Bo came back and asked her questions. However, the questions Bo Bo asked today were a bit "practical," and Zhang Ying told Bo Bo about them.
