Chapter Fifty-Six: The Death of Consort Hui

Then Yunrong saw the pineapple flower. She immediately recognized it, but couldn't quite place its name. Song Qin, who was standing nearby, said, "Your Majesty, this is a pineapple flower. It's a new addition to the flower shop. They say it was transported from the south and is very rare."

Yunrong suddenly remembered, isn't it called pineapple flower? It's also called pineapple flower. The reason Yunrong knew about this flower was thanks to a university elective course she took, Global Ecology. When the teacher introduced tulips, he also introduced a lot about the habits of pineapple flowers.

Yunrong didn't make a special effort to write it down, but she had a good memory. She remembered that although pineapple flowers were ornamental plants, they were not suitable for indoor placement. Over time, they were not good for people's health and could even cause lethargy.

Thinking about his son's condition, didn't he find the root of the problem?

Bobo was so young that if she hadn't been looking at her son more closely for a while, she might not have noticed that something was wrong with him. Smelling pineapple blossoms for too long could be fatal for a baby only a few months old.

Yunrong didn't know if the pineapple flower was accidentally put in the flower room or if someone did it intentionally. After all, pineapple flowers are meant to grow in hot climates, and no one would grow them indoors. So, whether the pineapple flower is poisonous or not is still hard to say.

Yunrong didn't intend to alert them: "That sounds good, let's keep them safe and sound!"

Song Qin smiled and said, "Yes, this servant will certainly send someone to take good care of you."

Yunrong casually asked, "These pineapple flowers are blooming so beautifully, I wonder who is taking care of them?"

Song Qin: "Your Majesty, it is Eunuch Li from the Flower and Grass Room."

Yunrong learned the name: "She's very skillful. Please give her a reward."

Song Qin smiled and said, "It is Li Gonggong's good fortune to receive the Empress's reward."

Now that Yunrong had found the source, she felt much more at ease. Yunrong used the excuse that her son was not in good spirits to stop the nannies from taking Bobo to the greenhouse.

Privately, Yunrong had someone investigate Li Song. After some investigation, Yunrong only found that Li Song and Consort Rong were quite close in the palace, but there was no concrete evidence.

The claim that Li Song was close to the servants in Consort Rong's palace is not solid evidence. Besides, if Consort Rong really wanted to do something, she wouldn't use someone who was too close to her.

Of course, it cannot be ruled out that Consort Rong was deliberately being mysterious.

Unable to find anything out of Li Song, Yunrong went to investigate the person who supplied flowers to Li Song.

The person who supplied the flowers was a very ordinary florist, and there seemed to be nothing wrong with him. Yunrong felt that something was amiss, but she had limited manpower outside the palace, and the information she could find was also limited.

Yunrong decided to tell Yinzhen instead. Pointing to a pot of pineapple flowers, she asked, "Do you know this flower?"

Yinzhen examined it carefully and realized he had never seen this flower before: "I've never seen this flower before. What's wrong? Is there something wrong with it?"

Yunrong sighed and said, "There is indeed something wrong with it. This flower is called pineapple flower. It looks pretty, but it is harmful to the body if kept indoors. Bobo has been listless lately. This flower was found in a glass greenhouse. I sent people to investigate, but they couldn't find any clues. So I wanted you to look into it."

When Yinzhen heard that his son had almost gotten into trouble, his heart jumped: "How is Bobo?"

Yunrong: "He hasn't been to the greenhouse these past few days, and his spirits have improved a lot, so you can rest assured."

Yinzhen was furious: "These people are just restless."

Yinzhen didn't believe it was any coincidence. To be honest, the servants in the palace were generally very shrewd, and usually, they wouldn't let the masters in the palace use anything new.

Yinzhen: "I'll go check on Bobo first. Leave this matter to me. I will definitely not let the monsters and demons behind this get away with it."

...

Once Yinzhen took action, he naturally uncovered more information, and Consort Hui was exposed. Yinzhen didn't have much of an impression of Consort Hui. In his previous life, she frequently instigated the First Prince and the Crown Prince to fight each other, so she didn't seem very smart. But she's quite capable in this life.

Now that Yinzhen knew the whole story, he naturally wouldn't let Consort Hui off the hook.

Yinzhen sent someone with the evidence to Consort Hui's palace. When Consort Hui took the evidence and looked at it, she realized it was all over!

Finally, Consort Hui was sent to a temple, supposedly to pray for the royal family's well-being. Not long after, she accidentally fell off a cliff. In reality, she was given a cup of poisoned wine as soon as she left the palace.

Consort Hui's sudden death left everyone in the harem feeling uneasy. Everyone felt that something was amiss. Why would Consort Hui go to a temple to pray for blessings for no reason? And as a concubine, she wouldn't go to the edge of a cliff for no reason...

After learning about this, Consort Rong fell silent and began to eat vegetarian food and chant Buddhist prayers. When no one was around, Consort Rong revealed a ferocious expression, turning the Buddhist beads in her hand and muttering to herself, "Why didn't you poison the Empress and her slutty son? What a waste of such a good pawn of mine, and she didn't even die."

Consort Rong was also involved in the pineapple flower incident. Consort Hui herself was unaware of it. Consort Rong did little; she merely made Consort Hui's people aware of this poisonous flower.

Of course, Consort Hui was not innocent either. If she hadn't had those bad intentions, she wouldn't have been taken advantage of and ended up with a tragic death.

The reason why Consort Rong was not discovered was because she was indeed cautious and discreet in her actions, and in addition, she did not do much.

Consort Hui died under mysterious circumstances. Yinzhen thought of sending a letter to the Nara family, telling them what his daughter had done, and then the Nara family also began to fall silent.

If His Majesty were to take offense, he might be so enraged by a woman's death that he could easily have the entire Nara family executed.

They saw how much the Emperor doted on the Empress. When Consort Hui plotted against the son born to the Empress, the Emperor only gave them a warning and stripped a few of them of their positions, which was considered merciful.
