Chapter Nine: Yinzhen's Golden Finger

Yinzhen then asked, "Master, what should be done if someone receives something they shouldn't have, but is unable to return it?"

Yinzhen's question was cryptic, and Master Wenxing's answer was equally cryptic: "You already have your own conclusions, and it would be better for this humble monk to say more. Follow your heart, and you will eventually find your way out of this dead end!"

Yinzhen didn't know if he understood or not, he only said, "Thank you for your explanation, Master!"

Master Wenxing: "Amitabha!"

After talking with Master Wenxing, Yinzhen decided to go for a walk. Yunrong heard from the little monk guarding the gate that there was a highly virtuous monk living inside who was very effective. So, Yunrong decided to go in and find the so-called virtuous monk, hoping to get a cup of tea.

She hoped he could give her some pointers, and most importantly, she wanted to get her some tea, as she was really thirsty!

Fucha Yunrong: "I've heard that a master lives here! Let's see if we can try our luck!" Most importantly, we want to ask for a cup of water!

Changchun and Baixiang are both genuine ancient people who believe in ghosts and gods. Hearing their master say this, they also plan to go and see if they have the luck!

Chang Chun knew more than Bai Xiang: "Your Majesty, you may not know this, but there lives a highly respected Master Wenxing here. The noble ladies in the palace have all added a lot of incense offerings, hoping to receive guidance from Master Wenxing. However, Master Wenxing often travels around, and we don't know if he is still in the temple!"

Yunrong had no idea that things were so particular, and she really hoped she could meet them!

Yunrong led her people toward the meditation room, and Yinzhen came out of the meditation room and ran into them!

Changchun, the old nanny, was a little confused. She had served the Dowager Consort, who became the Emperor's person after her death, so she had naturally met the Emperor before! Now that she had run into him, should she pretend not to know him?

Granny Changchun pondered for a moment, then remained silent, treating him as a stranger!

Yunrong had learned etiquette and knew that meeting strange men in private was bad for her reputation. She didn't care about that, but the world cared. Living in the world, if you don't have the power to change the world, you have to learn to adapt to it, unless one day you have enough power to abolish the world!

Yunrong was just about to retreat to avoid being seen and causing gossip!

Yunrong was about to leave when she looked up at the person opposite her. To her surprise, the person was staring at her intently, his expression quite erratic!

Yinzhen did stare intently at Yunrong, but not because Yunrong was stunningly beautiful. Yunrong was indeed quite pretty, but Yinzhen had been an emperor and had seen countless beauties, so he was certainly not the kind of person who would be lustful at first sight!

Yinzhen looked at her because a line of words appeared above his head!

The text above reads:

Identity: A woman who transmigrated during the Qing Dynasty

Golden Finger: Lab

This startled Yinzhen! Not only did he see it, but he also suddenly understood what "time-traveled woman" and "laboratory" meant, and what their functions were!

Yinzhen's feelings were extremely complicated!

Unexpectedly, this person was actually a visitor from the future, and not only that, but he also took away a laboratory that could be used for scientific research! Yinzhen was envious! Jealous! How wonderful it would be if that were his!

Yunrong was being stared at by a man. In modern times, if a man stared at her, she would at most think that the man was obsessed with her beauty. But in ancient times, this was simply the behavior of a lecherous scoundrel!

Such a person must be of questionable character! Who would have thought that someone who looks respectable could be so despicable inside! You really can't judge a book by its cover!

Yunrong wasn't going to pay any attention to this person! She turned around and prepared to leave!

Seeing Yunrong turn her head away so readily, Yinzhen realized how abrupt he had been! He quickly apologized, saying, "I apologize for my rudeness earlier, young lady. You look like an old friend of mine. I hope you will forgive me!"

Logically speaking, Emperor Yinzhen would never apologize to anyone, but he did, and he did seem quite sincere!

The main reason was that Yinzhen wanted to leave a good impression, since he planned to bring this person into the palace in the future, and it would be terrible if there was a misunderstanding! It would damage his wise and mighty image!

Yunrong turned her head and heard his words. Although she didn't know if they were true, he seemed sincere. She wasn't the type to be petty. "It's alright, I won't bother you any longer, young master! Baixiang, Granny, let's go back. Mother must be worried!"

Bai Xiang: Yes

Granny Changchun (trembling inwardly, as if she knew something she shouldn't): "Yes."

As Yinzhen watched Yunrong's departing figure, he felt a mix of emotions. This was partly due to Yunrong's status and her special abilities, and partly because he could see the row of words above Yunrong's head!

Yinzhen felt that his golden finger was useless, but little did he know that it was precisely because of this golden finger that he could see through people's true nature that he would not be fooled by others in the future!

Yinzhen visited the temple and figured out a lot of things. As a diligent emperor, he had no chance to spend the night outside the palace, as there were still a bunch of memorials to review in the Imperial Study!

So after Yunrong left, Yinzhen had a carriage prepared to take him back to the palace!

Yinzhen's trip out of the palace was very secretive; no one in the harem knew about it!

Aside from some routine government affairs, there's one thing that's been giving Yinzhen a real headache lately: Consort Niohuru has been quite restless. She's clever enough to be challenging the Empress in the palace!

Because Consort Niohuru had no children, she was out of the running on the surface. However, behind the scenes, Consort Niohuru was no pushover either, and Chenghu's health was tormented several times!

Yinzhen investigated and discovered that Chenghu's several illnesses were partly the work of Niohuru and partly the work of the Empress's own people! It's amazing she could be so ruthless! She doesn't care about her son at all!

Yinzhen was terribly wronged by his mother, Consort De, in his previous life, and he disliked people who could be so cruel to children! So Yinzhen held a grudge against Niohuru and Hesheli!
