Chapter Sixty-Nine: Jealousy

The bonfire party was very lively, and apart from Ya Ruo's little incident, the atmosphere was quite harmonious.

After Ya Ruo finished her dance, she disappeared without a trace. Luo Buzang Gunbu, on the other hand, showed no expression. Qing Gele felt delighted and ate and drank well all night.

Yunrong was also a bit upset today. She didn't know why. Logically speaking, she shouldn't have said those things to Princess Yaruo today, but she just felt particularly uncomfortable.

That's why she spoke so carelessly. Although it didn't cause any problems, it was definitely not in line with her usual principles.

Yunrong could hold her own at the banquet, but once it was over, she began to doubt herself.

So when Yinzhen came in, he saw that Yunrong looked a little unhappy, and he quickly asked, "What's wrong? Who made you unhappy?"

Yinzhen's question made him sound like a foolish emperor.

Yunrong shook her head and said, "No one bothered me, I'm just a little tired."

Yunrong was too embarrassed to tell Yinzhen about her awkwardness, so she kept quiet.

Yinzhen could tell that she was not being sincere, but since she was unwilling to say it, he would not press the matter further.

Yinzhen dismissed the servants attending him and began to show concern for Yunrong. He massaged Yunrong's shoulders with practiced ease, clearly indicating that this was not the first time he had done this.

After the two had washed up and lay down, Yunrong couldn't help but ask Yinzhen, "Don't you also think women's dancing is very beautiful?" Yunrong remembered that Yinzhen had watched very intently at the banquet.

Yunrong regretted asking the question as soon as she did.

The candles hadn't gone out yet, and Yinzhen found Yunrong's frustrated expression rather novel. Although he and Yunrong were of one mind, their relationship was somewhat like that of an old married couple. They were able to understand and sympathize with each other. Apart from a minor disagreement over their son's education, they rarely had any other disagreements.

It was warm and cozy, but somewhat bland.

Sometimes Yinzhen felt that if it were someone else, Yunrong might have done the same thing. Although it didn't affect the relationship between the couple, Yinzhen still took it to heart.

At the banquet today, Yunrong pulled him aside to stop him from speaking. When she personally confronted Princess Yaruo, it's undeniable that Yinzhen felt a secret joy in his heart.

He had thought of Yunrong's unhappiness earlier, and now that he saw her ask the question and then look annoyed, Yinzhen knew why she had been so sullen.

Yinzhen smiled and asked in return, "What do you think? Do you think the dancing woman is beautiful?"

Yunrong blushed slightly and remained silent.

Yinzhen smiled and gently stroked Yunrong's blushing face, saying, "You little ingrate, don't you know what kind of person I like?"

Yunrong buried her face in Yinzhen's chest and murmured softly, "That's not what I meant."

Yinzhen indulged him, saying, "Hmm, I know you didn't mean that. You're just jealous. How come I never noticed you were such a jealous person before?"

Yunrong: She's never encountered such blatant seduction before! The key point is that he actually watched the whole thing.

Even if Yunrong dislikes Princess Yaruo, she cannot deny that Princess Yaruo, dressed in red, was stunning with her dance.

Yunrong looked up at Yinzhen and said sourly, "I'm just jealous. I saw you watched the whole thing and even praised her!"

Yunrong knew what kind of person Yinzhen was, but she still felt a pang of jealousy.

When Yinzhen saw that Yunrong had admitted it, although a little jealousy could be amusing, the night was beautiful and it was really not worth wasting time on such a quarrel.

Then Yinzhen blew out the candles and fooled around until the third watch of the night before calling for water.

The next day, Yunrong woke up late, and the Empress, who had woken up late, was no longer sullen as she had been the night before. She looked radiant, and everyone who saw her would say that she looked healthy. It was clear that Yinzhen had indeed put in the effort the night before.

Not only was Yunrong in good spirits, but Yinzhen was also beaming with joy, which made Liang Jiugong feel quite uncomfortable. Sure enough, the emperor, who was used to a cold face, suddenly became gentle, which made Liang Jiugong feel uneasy.

Fortunately, Yinzhen's rare gentleness didn't last long. After dealing with some memorials, he reverted to his cold demeanor. Otherwise, Liang Jiugong would have thought that someone had returned the emperor he served!

As for why the handling of memorials reverted to the old method, it was simply because the people reading the memorials were not satisfied.

...

Because of what happened last night, Qinggeler was in a good mood today and was leisurely riding his horse across the grassland.

Then, in a very dramatic turn of events, Qinggele saw Ya Ruo, and Ya Ruo was accompanied by someone she had never seen before. Although the two did not have any physical contact, Qinggele, with a woman's intuition, felt that the two were not ordinary people.

Last night, her eyes were on Lobsang Gunbu and Ya Ruo, and she didn't pay attention to who this person was. She didn't expect that this Ya Ruo was really capable, able to seduce people everywhere.

On the vast grassland, Ya Ruo naturally saw Qing Gele. Ya Ruo felt a bit unlucky. She had been rejected several times yesterday and couldn't save face, so she went back early. She didn't want to come out today, but it was the youngest son of a prince in her tribe, named Arslan (Lion), who persuaded her to come out after several attempts.

Yaro felt particularly unlucky. She and Arslan had come from a place that was already quite far from the encampment, and they never expected to run into Qinggeler.

Qinggele rode his horse up to Ya Ruo and Arslan, smiling broadly. He said to Arslan, "Oh dear, another sucker has arrived. Last night, Princess Ya Ruo's dance was amazing. It's a pity that one of the two she was interested in didn't like her, and the other already had me as his fiancée. What, you've taken a fancy to our beautiful Princess Ya Ruo?"
