Chapter Thirty-Nine: Private Visit

Yunrong: As long as it looks good!

Yunrong: "It's more convenient to go out wearing men's clothes!"

There's nothing wrong with dressing up as a woman, but she wanted to go for a walk on the street. Yunrong is very beautiful, and if she were to walk on the street dressed as a woman, she would easily attract attention!

For convenience, men's clothing is better!

Yunrong can wear anything. When Yinzhen saw the style Yunrong was wearing, he asked Liang Jiugong to prepare clothes of a similar style!

Yunrong was quite happy when she saw Yinzhen's clothes; this was a chance to experience matching couple outfits!

Yinzhen didn't want anyone to know they had left the palace, so naturally they didn't get noticed. The two of them successfully left the palace and arrived at the bustling streets!

They sat in the carriage, and Yunrong, who hadn't heard such bustling hawking sounds in a long time, found it very familiar!

Yunrong didn't want to sit in the carriage. Yunrong said, "Let's go for a walk!"

Yinzhen wasn't the type to enjoy walking through bustling city streets, but Yunrong said he considered it a way of observing the people's sentiments! After all, the more lively the place, the better one could understand the people's hearts and opinions!

The two got off the carriage, accompanied by two servants. Of course, the emperor couldn't travel without taking some precautions for safety, and some people were arranged to be hidden away!

If they really led a large group of people around the streets, wouldn't the locals think they were there to collect protection money?

Yunrong saw people buying sugar figurines on the street and became interested, so she had two made for her!

The two strolled around, buying snacks, desserts, and some trinkets that weren't particularly well-made. Yunrong bought one of everything that looked decent to her.

In the end, they bought too many things, and the two servants following behind couldn't carry them all, so Yinzhen ordered someone to send the things back to the carriage first!

As Yunrong bought the items, she exclaimed, "These things don't look as exquisite as those in the palace, but upon closer inspection, they have a certain charm. They are all the crystallization of the wisdom of craftsmen. I really hope that they can be passed down forever!"

No wonder Yunrong sighed, modern things have basically achieved full automation in order to speed up. Efficiency has been improved, but the artistic conception of these things has been lost!

Yinzhen was unaware that during Yunrong's time, most of these folk crafts were either lost or on the verge of being lost to the world!

Yinzhen: "If you like it, I'll have someone send you any new gadgets in the future!"

Yunrong refused: "I don't need anything. I may like these things, but I only need one or two occasionally. There's no need to send them all to me. I have too much stuff, and I don't have anywhere to put it!"

Yinzhen said no more, but Yunrong would occasionally receive one or two folk handicrafts. They were not expensive or fancy, but they were very unique and lovely!

When you like someone, you'll probably feel like this: you'll take her words to heart and try your best to do them, you'll think about giving her surprises, and you'll want to be with her all the time, just thinking about that feeling!

The two strolled around town. After a while, Yinzhen was fine, as he exercised regularly and was in good physical condition. Yunrong, however, was feeling a bit tired and couldn't keep up.

Yinzhen noticed that Yunrong's health might be a little weak, so he sent Liang Jiugong to reserve a private room at the teahouse so she could have some tea and rest.

Liang Jiugong acted swiftly, finding out about a good teahouse and reserving a private room!

Yinzhen and Yunrong were drinking tea. There were quite a few people sitting in the main hall below. A space was left in front of the hall, where a table was placed. On the table was a conspicuous, somewhat old-looking object! It belonged to a storyteller!

In ancient times, storytellers did not have a high social status, but if they were good at it, there would be people willing to support them. The tea in this teahouse was just average, but the storyteller was exceptionally eloquent! He could always tell a story that made people unable to stop listening! That's why this teahouse stood out!

Yinzhen and Yunrong sat in the private room drinking very ordinary tea. The wooden house had poor soundproofing, so the storyteller would speak very loudly to be considerate of the guests. People sitting upstairs could hear him too.

The table and the storyteller clattered together, and the hall fell silent. The storyteller began, "Last time, we talked about how a scholar, traveling at night, found shelter from the rain in a dilapidated temple and encountered a lone woman there. Now, let's continue. The scholar was poor, with two older brothers, so no good woman was willing to marry him… The woman, moved by the scholar's gentlemanly conduct, offered herself to him, but the scholar resolutely refused… To find out what happens next, please listen to the next episode!"

This was Yunrong's first time listening to a storyteller in a teahouse, and she found it very interesting. Although the story might be a bit cliché for Yunrong, who had been exposed to all sorts of melodramatic dramas, the storyteller's rhythm and intonation were quite captivating, and Yunrong listened with great interest!

Seeing that she was listening intently, after the storyteller finished, Yinzhen said, "You like listening to storytelling?"

Yunrong: "It's pretty good, better than the tea here!"

Having grown accustomed to the finest delicacies, Yinzhen naturally looked down on the tea served in this teahouse, only managing a couple of sips to quench his thirst. He agreed with Yunrong's assessment.

Yinzhen: "If you like it, you can come out often in the future!"

Yunrong declined: "No need for that!"

Yunrong mainly felt it was a bit troublesome. When the emperor left the palace, especially on an incognito trip, it was necessary to consider all aspects. It was good enough if he came out occasionally! There was no need to cause him trouble!

Yinzhen could roughly guess what Yunrong was thinking: "In the future, I will also need to go out of the palace from time to time to inspect the people's conditions, so you don't need to find it troublesome!"

Yunrong thought for a moment and nodded, "That works too!"

Yinzhen whispered an instruction to Liang Jiugong in private. Liang Jiugong went out for a while after receiving the order and returned shortly afterward!
