Li Chenjiao lowered her eyes, wiped away her tears, and opened her lips slightly, reacting quickly.
"In my dream, Aman cried and told me she missed her mother—Aman can walk now, and she cried, wanting to walk to me—"
As Li Chenjiao spoke, she actually burst into tears.
After all, she really missed Aman terribly.
Her eyes were blurry with tears, her dark eyelashes trembled incessantly, and she suppressed her sobs, only whimpering softly, which was heartbreaking.
Fourth Master pulled her closer to his chest, no longer bothered to reprimand Li for her disrespectful words.
He was actually a little surprised, not expecting Li to have such a dream. He originally thought that Li would have a dream about the child in her womb.
I never expected that Li would have a dream about the Second Princess.
He patted Li's back reassuringly, his heart softening as well.
"You don't need to worry about things in the manor, nor about Second Princess. You are Second Princess's mother, but aren't I Second Princess's father too?"
Everything in the manor was arranged by the Fourth Master when he left. Although Fulu, that dog servant, was not good at reading people, he was very stubborn when it came to doing things.
He would never make a mistake in following his master's orders.
Li Chenjiao gradually stopped crying, and then lowered her head and eyes to apologize: "I was negligent—I didn't even know I was pregnant."
Fourth Master held her in his arms, not rushing to reply to Li Chenjiao, but first saying to the outside, "Prepare hot water."
Turning back, she took the handkerchief from beside the bed and handed it to Li Chenjiao, her expression somewhat puzzled: "What's it to you?"
Li Chenjiao choked again.
She knew it had nothing to do with her; she couldn't stop the carriage, nor could she simply turn her back and say she wouldn't go any further.
Otherwise, she really doesn't want her head anymore.
Logically speaking, if a woman becomes pregnant and something happens to the child in her womb, regardless of other factors, it is the woman's fault.
Li Chenjiao didn't really think that way; she was just saying it to Fourth Master.
Hearing what Fourth Master said, Li Chenjiao wiped away her tears and leaned closer to him, supporting herself on her knees.
"You won't blame me, sir?"
The Fourth Master moved his lips, and the words that came out of his mouth startled Li Chenjiao.
She looked at Fourth Master with surprise and uncertainty, and after a while, she grinned and smiled.
What did Fourth Master just say?
"Now that you are pregnant, you don't need to think about anything else. You will stay in this house in Suzhou for the time being. I have a house in Suzhou, and I will arrange for someone to settle you there when His Majesty departs. When you return, I will have Su Peisheng come to pick you up."
How long has Fourth Master been here? How long has it been since he received the news?
Has Fourth Master made up his mind?
With the Fourth Master's arrangement, it couldn't be better; it would be more than enough for Li Chenjiao to live comfortably.
Now that she was a little bolder, she propped herself up and looked up at the Fourth Master: "Wouldn't that be inappropriate—wouldn't that cause you trouble?"
"No." Fourth Master held Li Chenjiao's wrist, his brows furrowing slightly.
Just then, Qiu Hu came in carrying a copper basin, the hot water inside steadily rising.
Hearing footsteps, Fourth Master turned around and glanced at Li Chenjiao.
Li Chenjiao immediately sat up straight and properly.
However, Qiu Hu did not look up after entering. When Fourth Master instructed her to leave, Qiu Hu put down the copper basin and left.
Qiu Hu was a thoughtful girl; she even placed a soft cloth for wiping one's face next to the copper basin.
After Qiu Hu left, Li Chenjiao gave Fourth Master a reproachful look, and was about to get out of bed.
Unexpectedly, the Fourth Master restrained her first.
Fourth Master personally bent down to take the soft handkerchief, soaked it in hot water, wrung it out a bit, and then handed it to Li Chenjiao.
The fact that the Fourth Prince had condescended to do so was enough to make Li Chenjiao feel flattered and overwhelmed. If the Fourth Prince were to go on to wipe her face, she would probably be terrified.
After taking the handkerchief, she thanked the Fourth Master quietly, as if she were embarrassed.
A clean, warm handkerchief was used to wipe her face, revealing a fair and delicate face, though the worry had not yet dissipated.
After wiping her face, she subconsciously handed the handkerchief back to the Fourth Master. The Fourth Master's expression remained unchanged as he readily accepted the handkerchief. He then asked, "Do you want it again?"
Li Chenjiao paused for two seconds, then finally spoke, "I want more."
After wiping her face, it was quite dry. Fourth Master wrung out the handkerchief until it was quite dry, and Li Chenjiao wasn't used to it.
However, since this was the first time Fourth Master had done anything for her, Li Chenjiao naturally wouldn't reveal it.
Fourth Master then wrung out the handkerchief again.
After wiping her face, Li Chenjiao breathed a sigh of relief and spoke in a sweet voice, "Thank you, sir."
The Fourth Master tossed aside his handkerchief and, turning his head, asked only, "Have you had dinner yet?"
Li Chenjiao shook her head.
The Fourth Prince hummed in agreement: "Just order what you want to eat and have the kitchen prepare it."
After he finished speaking, he stood up and walked out of the room, but before leaving, he patted Li Chenjiao's hand reassuringly.
Since Li Chenjiao was to be kept here, although it wasn't a particularly noticeable matter, Fourth Master did have quite a few things to arrange.
The Emperor spent roughly the same amount of time in Suzhou as he did in Yangzhou.
These days, we need to first prepare Fourth Master's private residence, as he owns more than one residence in Suzhou.
Most of these houses were built during the years when the Emperor accompanied him on his southern tours and inspected river works; they were all the private property of the Fourth Prince.
However, when the Fourth Master spoke earlier, he had already thought about it. In addition to cleaning up the house, he also needed to select some loyal and capable servants, and of course, guards to watch over the house were also indispensable.
