Chapter 407 Oh, the little girl is calling me "Father" now.

Xiao Luzi seemed to be suppressing a laugh when she replied.

"Reporting to Your Majesty, as winter approaches, we servants are wrapping the water vat with cotton cloth when we discovered a few fish inside. Your Majesty then remembered that we brought them back from the garden sometime ago. Your Majesty said you were worried they would get cold, so we're taking them out now to send them to the small kitchen."

The Fourth Master thought the first part of what they said was quite normal, but the fact that Li Chenjiao casually took fish from the garden seemed like something she would do.

However, upon hearing the rest, even the Fourth Master couldn't help but twitch his lips.

Sure enough, it was something only Li Chenjiao could do.

Fearing they might get cold, I took them to the small kitchen.

Fourth Master recalled these words and shook his head with a wry smile.

At this moment, Li Chenjiao, who was inside, also heard the commotion outside and came out with Qiu Hu's help. She stood upright under the corridor and called out to Fourth Master in a clear voice.

"The master is here?"

Li Chenjiao smiled, seemingly oblivious to the Fourth Master's dark expression.

Fourth Master strode forward and reached the corridor in a few steps. He merely gave a faint "hmm" to Li Chenjiao's voice, and then said, "Go in."

Li Chenjiao followed behind the Fourth Master and asked, "Has Your Highness had dinner yet?"

Fourth Master said no, he originally only said those two words, but thinking of what Xiao Luzi had said outside earlier, Fourth Master inexplicably softened his expression and asked.

"Are you having fish here today?"

Upon hearing Fourth Master's words, Li Chenjiao first scolded him, "Everyone says there will be abundance every year. Those fish have lived to the end of the year. How could I be so heartless? I'm having someone find a small container to put them away right now."

The second princess, her little bottom sticking out on the soft couch, bluntly exposed her mother's lie: "Eat fish, Mother said, eat fish. I won't eat..."

As the little girl spoke, she pouted and lowered her head to poke at the cushion on the soft couch. The spot she was poking was embroidered with a lifelike koi fish, and the little girl was playing with poking at the koi fish's eyes.

Li Chenjiao wasn't angry at being exposed by her own daughter. Instead, she went up to Fourth Master and whispered a few words to him.

Upon hearing this, the Fourth Prince asked, "Really?"

Since Fourth Master asked this question, he has actually already believed Li Chenjiao's words.

What Li Chenjiao had just whispered in his ear was that after the Second Princess saw the servants take the fish out, she wanted to reach in and touch them. Since it was freezing cold, Li Chenjiao made up a story about wanting to eat fish.

Does Li Chenjiao not know whether the fish raised in the garden are safe to eat?

If fish were edible, Li Chenjiao would have already wiped out all the fish in the garden.

Li Chenjiao could tell at a glance that the fish was not tasty.

However, Li Chenjiao did not want to lie to the little girl. She originally planned to tell the little girl when the maids found a suitable container to hold the fish.

Although the little girl was intrigued by the fish, Li Chenjiao would always explain things to her clearly.

Let the little girl sulk and poke at the cushion for now; Chen and Zhong are watching from the left and right.

Li Chenjiao sat down on the edge of the couch. The Fourth Master glanced at her belly, moved to the other side, but did not say anything.

Li Chenjiao noticed this and moved closer to the other person.

"Is there anything wrong with the cook and the midwife?"

Li Chenjiao nodded lightly and looked at the Fourth Master: "I haven't had a chance to thank you yet. The nannies are all very kind. You can try their cooking at dinner."

Fourth Master grunted in response and said nothing more.

Li Chenjiao didn't ask many questions, but spoke softly about some small things that happened in her courtyard, such as how the Second Princess had wet the bed the other day, because the little girl had drunk half a bowl of milk before going to bed.

Li Chenjiao vividly described the little girl's embarrassment upon waking up, and as she spoke, she herself began to laugh.

"By the way, I just drew that scene today, but I've put it away now. I'll show it to you when you're a little older."

Li Chenjiao has a habit of painting portraits of the Second Princess.

She learned this habit from her mother, and she also learned to draw the little girl's embarrassment from her mother.

After all, she grew up and saw many of the funny and absurd things her mother drew of her as a child.

Li Chenjiao honed her painting skills diligently during her time in the inner chambers.

Her handwriting is also quite good, but her painting skills are indeed much more exquisite.

Upon hearing Li Chenjiao's words, Fourth Master couldn't help but glance at her. After a long while, he finally smiled and said, "You..."

Who would have a mother like Li Chenjiao? Yet, the Fourth Prince didn't find anything wrong with it; in fact, he found it amusing.

Li Chenjiao blatantly criticized the young girl's embarrassment in front of her, and it's unclear whether the girl on the other side of the soft couch understood what she was saying.

After a while, she stuck out her bottom and raised her head again. The little girl's eyes were moist, and her voice was clear and melodious: "Father!"

Oh, the little girl has called me "Ama" now.

Li Chenjiao didn't deliberately teach the little girl to say "father." The two wet nurses taught her more. However, the little girl usually called her "mother," so this was the first time she had called Fourth Master "father."

Fourth Master was also stunned.

After the little girl finished calling out, she let out a long sigh and then plopped back down on the soft couch, as if she was tired from playing. After calling out "Father," she didn't say anything else.

It was the Fourth Prince who was stunned by the word "Father" and stood there dumbfounded.

A strange emotion seemed to surge within him, and Fourth Master turned to look at Li Chenjiao.

Li Chenjiao smiled and said, "Did you hear that, Master? The Second Princess just called you Father."

Fourth Master nodded somewhat slowly, his voice a little hoarse as he spoke: "Yes, Your Highness... heard it."
