Chapter 456. She fell asleep really quickly.

When the Fourth Prince returned to his residence, he had just come out of the palace, or more accurately, he had just come out of Yuqing Palace.

Because the Crown Prince was recuperating, no one was allowed to leave Yuqing Palace, but visits from outsiders were permitted.

This was the first time in a long time that the Fourth Prince had stepped into Yuqing Palace.

The Fourth Prince couldn't quite remember the last time he stepped into Yuqing Palace.

However, he didn't say more than a few words to the Crown Prince after meeting him. The Crown Prince was indeed haggard, looking emaciated.

The Fourth Prince consulted the imperial physician, who said that the Crown Prince's illness was due to pent-up emotions and required rest.

What is the Crown Prince's biggest worry?

On his way back, Fourth Master pondered for a while, then dismounted and Fulu quickly led the horse to the stable.

At the same time, Su Peisheng whispered that he had already sent Mr. Dai Duo over.

Fourth Master grunted in response and was walking inside when he was suddenly stopped by someone.

Su Peisheng, holding a hexagonal lantern, said with brighter eyes, "Master, it's Wang Jinzhong, who serves the main wife."

The Fourth Master frowned and stopped, asking only, "What is it?"

Wang Jinzhong dared not delay and relayed the Princess's intentions in one breath, without daring to embellish them.

Seeing that the Fourth Prince had been neglecting his wife for almost two months, the servants below him were naturally getting anxious.

The Fourth Prince also took it as the Princess Consort's way of seeking peace, but he still didn't want to see her at the moment.

"If you have something to say, have someone come to the front yard." With that, Fourth Master strode towards the front yard.

Wang Jinzhong stood there, speechless.

Su Peisheng glanced at him: "Alright, go back and give your report. The master is angry."

Wang Jinzhong nodded and bowed in agreement, but when he turned to walk towards the main courtyard, he naturally looked worried again.

The Fourth Prince discussed matters with Dai Duo until late at night, and only asked Su Peisheng about it during dinner.

"What happened today while the master was away?"

Su Peisheng had already asked around, and although he hadn't gotten all the details, he still knew the general outline of what had happened in the main courtyard today.

He quickly spilled the beans, but since the main courtyard had kept the truth completely from him, he dared not embellish it.

The Fourth Master didn't react much after hearing this.

Su Peisheng was unsure, so he finally said, "The concubine from the East Courtyard sent over some things, saying they were little trinkets she made in her spare time."

Fourth Master raised his chin, gesturing for Su Peisheng to bring it up.

Li Chenjiao rarely sends anything to the front yard, but she sent flowers a few days ago, and today she's excitedly had something delivered again.

Fourth Master knew perfectly well that she was thanking him for letting her mother come into the mansion to keep her company.

Su Peisheng quickly stepped forward carrying a long box.

Fourth Master took it, paused for a couple of seconds, and then pulled out the long box.

"Did your master Li's mother leave the manor today?" Fourth Master asked again, seemingly unconcerned.

Su Peisheng replied, "Yes, I have already made arrangements on the way back. Madam Shen will be visiting relatives in the capital for a few days, and as per your instructions, I have arranged for one of your trusted guards from the Haha Beads to accompany her."

Fourth Master didn't say anything more and went to see what was in the long box.

The moment the box was opened, the fragrance of winter plum blossoms wafted out.

The Fourth Prince raised an eyebrow and picked up one of the bright yellow paper flowers. The craftsmanship was naturally not as good as that of the Imperial Household Department, but the color and fragrance were quite good, so it could be considered a top-quality flower.

Fourth Master glanced at it and saw a small note on the far right.

He took it out and unfolded it; on it was a line of delicate, pretty handwriting by Li Chenjiao.

"Seeing the flowers is like seeing the person; may this bring you joy, Master Yuanbo."

Fourth Master rubbed the note with his fingertip and chuckled to himself, "All you ever do is tinker with these kinds of things."

Su Peisheng lowered his head, not daring to answer.

Fourth Master closed the box, stood up, and seemed to be in a good mood: "Go to the East Courtyard."

...

In the east courtyard, Li Chenjiao didn't expect Fourth Master to come at this time. After all, it was quite late, and she had already had dinner and was preparing to settle down.

When Fourth Master entered, he seemed to bring in a chilly wind. Li Chenjiao stood up to greet him.

The Fourth Prince's face was as cold as ice, but he still raised his hand to help Li Chenjiao when she paid her respects.

When Qiu Hu served the tea, Li Chenjiao personally handed the teacup to the Fourth Master.

"Master, have some tea." She spoke in a rare soft voice.

Fourth Master looked at her and asked, "What did you do today?"

Li Chenjiao lowered her head and said in a softer voice, "Today, I made a mistake... and offended the Fujin."

They're quick to admit their mistakes.

Fourth Master seemed to chuckle: "Really admitted your mistake?"

Li Chenjiao looked up, her dark eyes glistening with tears. She pouted but remained silent.

Fourth Master remained expressionless, and the two stared at each other for a moment.

Fourth Master sighed, tilted his head, and asked her, "Are you feeling wronged?"

The two sat facing each other. He raised his hand, his fingers brushing past the corner of Li Chenjiao's eye, finally stopping at the side of her cheek.

With her face pinched, Li Chenjiao couldn't speak clearly, and her pursed lips were forced to open slightly.

Fourth Master chuckled softly with a emotionless "humph," glanced at the face from left to right, and then released his grip: "Speak."

Li Chenjiao is such a opportunist; the Fourth Prince's expression is reflected in her bright black eyes.

She boldly pried open Fourth Master's hand and broke free: "Master!"

The last part of her call sounded a little weak. Li Chenjiao got off the soft couch, not even having time to slip on her shoes, and immediately buried herself in the Fourth Master's arms.

Her slender arms tightly embraced Fourth Master's strong waist. After a long while, Fourth Master heard a muffled voice from afar: "I'm not wronged."

The chill emanating from him froze, and his aura diminished by half.

"What are you doing? No manners!"
