Li Chenjiao was stunned for two seconds, but quickly regained her composure.
It must be said that what the Fourth Master said just now did strike a chord with her for a moment, but only for a moment.
She didn't bring up the matter of the main wife, since it was obvious that the Fourth Prince had left the main courtyard and come to her place because he was angry with the main wife again. She wouldn't be foolish enough to bring it up in front of the Fourth Prince.
However, from what she had just heard, she knew that the Fourth Master already knew about what had happened to her in the Qing Courtyard today, and that he had already said everything he needed to say. She looked at the Fourth Master expectantly, and then slowly said, "Master, shouldn't we... go have dinner now?"
After saying this, she lowered her eyes and touched her abdomen.
Fourth Master glanced at her, seemingly both amused and exasperated: "Alright, let's have dinner."
The Fourth Prince was truly surprised today. He never expected Li Chenjiao to have such a side to him. However, after hearing Granny Yun's report on the matter, the Fourth Prince only felt irony.
The Fujin (Prince Consort) couldn't even manage the household affairs properly, only thinking about her own selfish interests. In the end, it was Li Chenjiao (Secondary Princess Consort) who had to clean up the mess.
Fourth Master never doubted Li Chenjiao's intentions, and after today's events, he found that he had a deeper understanding of Li Chenjiao.
She was far smarter and more resourceful than he had imagined. Her ability to stand up decisively and come up with a solution to the problem in that situation, and to handle it so well, was truly surprising.
Fourth Master recalled his previous misunderstanding of Li Chenjiao and couldn't help but feel a little guilty.
He had always thought of her as a delicate woman who needed protection, but he never imagined she also possessed such strength and courage. Perhaps he should re-evaluate his perception of her and give her more trust and support.
Fourth Master let Li Chenjiao pull him towards the octagonal table outside for dinner. At the same time, he glanced at Li Chenjiao, who was beaming with joy at finally being able to have dinner, and sighed silently in his heart.
However... given Li Chenjiao's daily habits of eating, drinking, and playing, it's one thing to let her accompany the Second Princess and the Fourth Prince, but if the entire household needs Li to manage it, then there really is no one else capable in his household.
Thinking this, Fourth Master was led to the Eight Immortals Table by Li Chenjiao.
"Look, Your Highness, these are all dishes I've been craving lately. Please try them and see if they suit your taste." Li Chenjiao handed chopsticks to the Fourth Master.
Upon hearing this rather disrespectful remark, Fourth Master chuckled and said, "Is this all what you like?"
Li Chenjiao blinked and nodded obediently, "Yes...yes."
The maids and servants hadn't left yet. After hearing what Li Chenjiao said, the Fourth Master raised an eyebrow and couldn't help but reach out and pinch Li Chenjiao's cheek.
"What did you say?" He hadn't been at the manor for so many days, but Li Shi in front of him didn't seem to miss him at all. She even prepared her own favorite dishes for dinner.
The maids around immediately lowered their heads, not daring to look any further.
Li Chen chuckled and squeezed Fourth Master's hand back, causing him to change from pinching her face to touching it. She then complained, "Master, your grip is too strong. My face is turning red from your pinching."
Hearing her words, the Fourth Master was both amused and annoyed, and in the end, he had no choice but to let go.
"I bet you don't feel any pain at all."
Li Chenjiao personally served food to the Fourth Prince, her face full of smiles. As she served him food, she said, "What you say, Your Highness... I didn't know you would come to my place today. It's just that the Second Princess and I have been thinking of you while you've been away from the manor... But I know that Your Highness is a man who does great things, and I can't keep holding you back because of my own reasons."
Hearing her words, Fourth Master felt comforted, but after a while, he suddenly realized something and couldn't help but glance at her sideways: "Is that really what you think?"
Seeing that their masters were having a private conversation, the maids had already discreetly retreated.
Li Chenjiao fawned over Fourth Master and placed a piece of fish on his plate: "Whether I miss you or not is not that important. Every time you return safely after going out, I feel very satisfied."
However, when it comes to missing someone, Li Chenjiao didn't really miss the days when the Fourth Master wasn't at home.
However, since the Fourth Prince was the head of the household, Li Chenjiao naturally hoped with all her heart that he would return safely.
So what she said wasn't wrong.
The Fourth Master's irritability had dissipated considerably during his conversation with Li Chenjiao, and he lowered his head to taste the fish that Li Chenjiao had given him.
The kitchen staff here at Li Chenjiao's place are indeed quite skilled, and the dishes that Li Chenjiao orders each time are always surprisingly to the liking of the Fourth Master.
The Fourth Prince gave a soft "hmm," and although he didn't say anything else, this sound indicated that he was satisfied.
Li Chenjiao then picked up a piece of fish with her chopsticks. The fish bones had already been removed by the kitchen staff, and the fish had been fried in scallion oil. She found that the taste was indeed very good, so she smiled at Fourth Master again.
Finally, we got to eat dinner. It was really a long time coming.
The two looked at each other, and Li Chenjiao smiled again.
Fourth Master and Li Chenjiao were just having their dinner when they suddenly heard a soft, sweet voice: "What is Mother eating?"
Li Chenjiao turned her head and saw the little figure of the Second Princess standing by the screen at the door. The little girl had probably just woken up. When she spoke, she raised her small hand and rubbed her eyes. She looked so cute.
Li Chenjiao swallowed the fresh fish in her mouth first, then put down her chopsticks and stretched out her hand to the little girl: "Our Aman is awake? Come to your mother, is Aman hungry? There's steamed egg custard in the kitchen, would you like some?"
