Chapter 477 Struggling to Move Forward

The first person to notice that the Fujin had fainted was Liu, who had been standing behind her. She had originally intended to ask the Fujin if she wanted to rest in the side room for a while before waiting.

After all, the princess didn't feel anything while sitting, but when she stood under the eaves, she was actually shielding the princess from the fine raindrops blowing in from outside.

In just half an hour, Liu felt that most of her right arm was soaked by raindrops.

The feeling of clothes sticking to her arms was really unpleasant. Liu had been standing for more than an hour, and her legs were already sore. Just as she lowered her eyes and was about to say something to the Fujin, she saw that the Fujin had already slumped back in her chair and closed her eyes. It seemed that she had already fallen asleep.

Upon seeing this, Liu's eyes lit up, and she quickly raised her voice, saying, "Something terrible has happened! Something terrible has happened! The Princess Consort has fainted..."

Before Liu could even call out twice, a figure suddenly rushed out from inside. By the light of the candlelight in the corridor, Liu vaguely seemed to see the bow and arrow in the Fourteenth Prince's hand.

"What are you yelling about in the middle of the night? Do you think you can take responsibility for disturbing Fourth Brother's recovery? If you keep making noise, get out of here!"

The fourteenth prince had already aimed the bow and arrow he was holding at Liu Shi as he spoke.

The arrow seemed to have fallen from the bowstring, aimed directly at Liu.

Liu's legs trembled, and she swallowed hard. She lost her voice without realizing it.

The Fourteenth Prince before us is a notorious little tyrant...

Liu believed he truly dared to draw that bow and arrow...

The Fourteenth Prince quickly tossed the bow and arrow in his hand to Haha Zhuzi beside him: "Since Fourth Sister-in-law has fainted, let's take her to the side room to rest. I told you long ago to let Fourth Sister-in-law go back to the main courtyard. It's true that staying here will only cause trouble."

The Fourteenth Prince muttered the second half of his sentence aloud.

Fortunately, the princess had already fallen asleep, otherwise, if she had heard what the fourteenth prince said, she would probably have been angry again.

Liu glanced at the Fujin, and soon she and Granny Qian helped the Fujin to the side room.

There were no side rooms for Liu Shi to rest in, so she was eventually arranged by Granny Qian, who was by the side of the Fujin, to rest on a soft couch in the outer room.

The side rooms in the front yard weren't very well decorated, probably because few people stayed overnight in the Fourth Master's front yard. In fact, these side rooms were even simpler than Liu's.

The soft couch was also extremely uncomfortable. Liu had never suffered such humiliation before. However, since the Fujin was already asleep inside, Liu had to endure it no matter how impatient she was.

In the eyes of the Fujin (principal wife), she was probably no different from a servant who could be summoned and dismissed at will.

A hint of bitterness appeared in Liu's eyes; in fact, she was still hungry herself.

But at this moment, who in the front yard would care about whether this princess lived or died? All night, Liu Shi was huddled in the small and uncomfortable soft couch, and even turning over had to be done very carefully, for fear of waking up the Fujin inside.

Even as things gradually became more lively outside, Liu was still in a daze; she hadn't slept soundly all night.

When the Lady Consort heard the commotion and got up, she did not ask Liu to stay and serve her to wash up. Perhaps seeing that Liu looked somewhat haggard, the Lady Consort frowned and waved her hand mercifully, indicating that Liu should go back and tidy herself up before coming to the front yard.

Liu knew that she looked rather haggard. She respectfully agreed, but after leaving the front yard, her straight back slowly began to bend.

What was she after yesterday's ordeal? She didn't even get to see the Fourth Master.

She shook her head self-deprecatingly, and slowly walked towards her own courtyard, supported by the maid. After all, even if the master woke up now, there was the Fujin (principal wife) by his side, so why was she in such a hurry?

She was lost in thought when she suddenly heard the maid whisper, "Princess, the concubine is here."

Upon hearing the sound, Liu subconsciously looked up and her gaze fell upon the tall and beautiful figure. She instinctively raised her hand to tidy her stray hairs.

The concubine approaching from not far away seemed to have slept well last night. Her clear, bright eyes darted slightly as she spoke to the maid beside her, but her tense forehead and slightly furrowed brows revealed a hint of anxiety. Her simple cheongsam swayed gently in the wind, yet she walked steadily toward her.

Lady Liu hurriedly bowed and said, "Greetings to the Consort."

The concubine seemed to have just noticed her figure. She seemed to stop talking to the maid and paused for a moment: "Is that Consort Liu? Get up."

Judging from the tone of the concubine's voice, she seemed somewhat surprised. After saying "No need for formalities," she did not ask any more questions and quickly walked past Liu Shi to head to the front courtyard.

As if by some strange twist of fate, Lady Liu suddenly called out to the concubine.

"Please wait, Consort."

Li Chenjiao turned around with a hint of doubt, a faint smile appearing on her face: "Does Princess Liu have anything else to say?"

Liu moved her lips: "Replying to Consort, the master has just woken up, but since Consort is here as well... This servant will take her leave."

Liu started to say something, but then seemed to hesitate and stop.

Li Chenjiao keenly noticed, but she didn't point it out. She maintained her smile and said, "Thank you for letting me know."

She turned and headed towards the front yard first.

Qiu Hu supported her, clearly puzzled, but said nothing; this was obviously not the time to talk.

Li Chenjiao was quickly helped to the front yard by Qiu Hu. It seemed that someone had given her instructions, because Li Chenjiao was able to enter the front yard without any hindrance.

As she entered the front yard, she ran into Fulu, Su Peisheng's apprentice.

Upon seeing Li Chenjiao, Fulu bowed respectfully and said, "The concubine has arrived... The master and the concubine are inside. The master has just woken up and hasn't had breakfast yet. You may take a look and have some too?"

Fu Lu's words were ostensibly a suggestion for Li Chenjiao to have breakfast, but in reality, he meant for Li Chenjiao to order breakfast.

This monkey, I don't know when it learned its master's slippery tricks.

Li Chenjiao shook her head slightly: "Since you and your wife are inside, I won't go in and disturb them. Take me to the side room, and I can also enjoy breakfast in the front yard."

In fact, Li Chenjiao had already used it once in the east courtyard before coming to the front courtyard.

However, she got up quite early today and didn't eat much for breakfast.

Upon hearing Li Chenjiao's words, Fulu was overjoyed and quickly took the initiative to greet Li Chenjiao and lead her to the side room.

Thinking that the Fourth Prince probably didn't eat much last night, Li Chenjiao ordered a light breakfast. Also, remembering that the Fourteenth Prince was there, she added two extra servings of filling milk buns.

Li Chenjiao had hardly ever eaten at the front yard's kitchen.
