Chapter 539 Thoughts

Li Chenjiao usually doesn't have much of a reaction during her period, but ever since she gave birth to the Fourth Prince around this time last year, she has started to feel cold in her hands and feet every time she has her period.

Even though there was always a charcoal fire burning in the room, or it was summer, her hands or feet were always cold. Now, when she put her hand into Fourth Master's neck, she really chilled him.

Fourth Master grabbed Li Chenjiao's wrist, and for a moment he couldn't say anything to refute her.

But the Fourth Prince's question just now wasn't wrong. He was just worried that the Second Princess would catch a cold, wasn't he?

Li Chenjiao knew when to stop. When Fourth Master grabbed her wrist, she curled her fingers and stopped trying to cool Fourth Master's neck: "Why are your hands so cold too?"

Fourth Master glanced back at her and snorted, "Coming from outside, how could you not be cold?"

Fourth Master was still unwilling to back down, but he didn't blame Li Chenjiao for her earlier misbehavior at all.

Li Chenjiao smiled awkwardly: "Well... it's cold outside, and it's cold in the courtyard too. Why not let Second Princess be happy? Maybe she'll feel warmer that way."

Fourth Master glared at her again: "Nonsense."

As he spoke, he mischievously scratched Li Chenjiao's palm, as if punishing her for her earlier misbehavior.

Li Chenjiao, ticklish, withdrew her hand, but smiled and explained gently, "Letting the Second Princess go out to play is also a way to get some fresh air. The imperial physician said it's not good for her to stay cooped up in the room all day; she'll get suffocated by the charcoal fire."

Fourth Master looked at her, uttered another load of nonsense, and then naturally released his grip on Li Chenjiao's wrist.

After withdrawing her hand, Li Chenjiao rested her chin on her hand and looked back at the Fourth Prince, asking, "Has Your Highness visited the First Prince?"

The Fourth Prince nodded slightly, but did not go into too much detail about the First Prince's condition, only mentioning it lightly: "He's in much better spirits, but he still needs to be cared for."

After hearing this, Li Chenjiao didn't ask any further questions.

Just then, Qiu Hu finally came in and brought Li Chenjiao some brown sugar water, while Fourth Master had a cup of tea instead.

Li Chenjiao lowered her head and drank some brown sugar water, which warmed her stomach. She asked, "Is Aman asleep? Where's Wanwan?"

Qiu Hu replied, "The Second Princess has been asleep for a while, but the Fourth Prince just woke up. He's probably hungry now..."

Li Chenjiao looked up and added, "Don't even mention him being hungry, his mother is hungry too..." As she spoke, she looked down and touched her stomach.

The Fourth Prince kept writing without lifting his head.

Li Chenjiao was not surprised. She simply gave instructions for dinner and then lazily leaned back on the soft couch.

With nothing else to do, she simply half-closed her eyes and watched the Fourth Master review official documents.

While Fourth Master appeared calm and collected as he looked at the official documents, he was actually thinking about something else entirely.

When he was the same age as the eldest prince and the second princess, he was already studying in the Imperial Study. At that time, he spent his days in the Imperial Study and the Princes' quarters, and every few days he would go to Empress Tongjia's place...

For the Fourth Master, such days were commonplace and routine.

Moreover, the princes have only been studying for half a day, which is already a very easy task in the eyes of the Fourth Prince.

However, after listening to Li Chenjiao's casual conversation, Fourth Master suddenly felt a little uneasy.

Back then, when he spent all his time in the Imperial Study... he did feel quite bored every day. Even if he wanted to go to the Imperial Garden, he had to ask the nanny arranged by Empress Tongjia for permission. It wasn't until he got older that he was finally able to make his own decisions. However, by then, the Fourth Prince had already passed the age of longing to go to the Imperial Garden to try his luck and meet his father, the Emperor.

Li Chenjiao noticed that the ink in the pen held by the Fourth Master was almost dripping onto the table. She opened her eyes, sat up, and casually picked up the travelogue and spread it in front of the Fourth Master: "Your Majesty has had a long day... Why don't you wait until after dinner to review it? It's still early."

Just as Fourth Master was brought back to his senses by Li Chenjiao's call, thick ink had already dripped precisely onto the travelogue book that Li Chenjiao had just laid out.

As the Fourth Prince put down his pen, a thousand thoughts raced through his mind. When he looked up, he saw Li Chenjiao staring intently at the travelogue in front of him, as if facing a formidable enemy.

He paused for a moment, then put the travelogue aside and said, "Hmm."

Fourth Master was still preoccupied with his own thoughts, and his reply was somewhat absent-minded.

Seeing this, Li Chenjiao snorted inwardly, then got off the soft couch and went to the outer room to ask about dinner and see the Fourth Prince.

The Fourth Master, however, was completely unaware of this; he had other ideas in mind.
