Chapter 6 "It seems she went to Princess Li's place"

Yu Lou should have said, "She understands everything."

The princess consort's expression softened: "Fourth Master has returned to the front courtyard?"

"Well, I stayed at Princess Baijia's place for a while, and didn't return to the front yard until it was almost dark," Yulou said.

The Fujin nodded slightly: "In the end, we still gave Bai Jia some face and didn't embarrass her too much. In that case, choose something better to send over."

Yu Lou agreed and hurried out to make the arrangements.

When the items were delivered to Bai Jia's place, her expression changed immediately, as if she wished she could throw them back into the main courtyard.

After a long while, Lady Baijia slowly exhaled a breath of stale air and said to the maid who had brought the things from behind the screen, "Please thank the Fujin for me, but my head is throbbing terribly..."

The maid outside quickly said, "This servant has disturbed you. Please rest well, Your Highness. This servant will take his leave."

Seeing that the person had left, Bai Jia sneered, "Put all the things in the backyard, including the things that the Fujin sent earlier."

Bai Jia was not initially resentful of the Fujin, but when the Fujin sent her more gifts, Bai Jia suddenly remembered why she had fallen, and naturally became resentful.

Thus, within just a few days, Lady Baijia began to dislike the Fujin (principal wife) unilaterally.

The maid Danqing replied, "Princess, what should be done with Dangui later?" If Dangui had helped the princess today, this whole mess wouldn't have happened.

Danqing was a maidservant brought by Baijia herself, while Dangui was from the Imperial Household Department; their relationship was naturally different.

Bai Jia gritted her teeth: "Fine, punish her as you please, just to make her more clever." This is precisely the time when we need capable people... Never mind.

Danqing agreed and helped Baijia to rest.

Li Chenjiao from the east was the last to know about this. Oh well, she overslept again.

After listening to Qiu Ci finish speaking, Li Chenjiao yawned lazily, her pretty face softening slightly.

"You fell by yourself? So careless?" Li Chenjiao yawned twice more before asking.

Qiu Ci handed the tea to Li Chenjiao: "This servant doesn't know either. Perhaps, Fourth Master has already returned to the front courtyard..." It's hard to say whether he fell on his own.

Li Chenjiao took the teacup and took a sip: "Oh, what's for dinner?"

Qiu Hu came in from outside and immediately covered her mouth and laughed: "Dinner has been prepared, Princess, please dine."

Upon hearing this, Li Chenjiao got up and walked outside. Tonight's dinner would be lighter, but there would still be two main dishes.

Bamboo shoot and beef, hmm, it looks bland, but it's really spicy. Li Chenjiao, who was so spicy, quickly drank half a bowl of the vegetarian soup.

There was also a braised tofu dish, which looked spicy, but tasted quite delicious.

Another dish was steamed sea bass, which wasn't fishy at all. It was served on a bed of ginger slices and topped with hot oil, making it very delicious.

The fish was very fresh, and Li Chenjiao liked it quite a bit, eating most of it.

The dessert was jujube paste cake, which Li Chenjiao didn't touch. She usually saved desserts for everyday meals. Although she had one or two dishes of cakes every day, Li Chenjiao didn't like eating them with meals.

After finishing her meal, Li Chenjiao took a stroll in the courtyard to digest her food. Hearing Qiu Hu say that hot water was ready, she went inside to take a bath.

After taking a bath, Li Chenjiao sat on the edge of the couch, holding a book and occasionally taking a bite of jujube cake.

When the time was almost up, and the candles were dripping wax, Li Chenjiao felt sleepy and went to bed.

After serving her for two days, Qiu Ci became quite adept at it, mainly because Li Chenjiao lived a very regular life.

But the routine also made her feel at ease and peaceful, and every day seemed to bring different fun. Thinking about it, Qiu Ci smiled.

Everything was peaceful in the mansion, so the Fujin felt at ease. She went to the palace, and Consort De didn't make things difficult for her. Instead of giving her a few pointers, Consort De also rewarded her with many things.

The Fujin returned to her residence, simply distributed the gifts bestowed by the Consort to everyone, visited Song Shi, and then went on to attend to other matters.

Being a princess consort is really not easy.

After everything was finished, it was almost noon. The Princess Consort rubbed her temples and asked, "Is Fourth Prince also having lunch at Yonghe Palace today?"

Yu Ru replied, "Yes, I have already sent word back that... the Third Master and the Fifth Master will also be coming for dinner tonight, and I have asked the Princess Consort to make the necessary arrangements."

The concubine paused in her kneading motion: "Are you dining in the front courtyard?"

Yu Ru nodded: "Yes."

The princess then instructed, "Go to the front courtyard and tell them to be careful. Also, tell the kitchen staff to make sure there are no mistakes. And go around telling everyone not to go anywhere today."

"Yes, this servant will go right away." Yu Ru hurriedly left.

...

Inside the palace, the Third Prince, Fourth Prince, and Fifth Prince spent the morning in the Qianqing Palace. When they went back to have lunch, they were talking. The brothers had a good relationship, and as they talked, they decided to go to the Fourth Prince's place for dinner.

The brothers had already drunk at the Fourth Palace in Ganxi before their wedding, so it was only natural that it was the Fourth Palace's turn this time.

In the evening, the brothers returned to Fourth Master's place together. The Fujin had already made arrangements and heard from the gatekeeper that Fourth Master and the others had returned.

Instead of rushing to greet them, he first sent Yu Ru to check the front yard again. After confirming that everything was in order, he heard from the servants that his brothers had already gone to the front yard, so he went to show his face.

After exchanging a few casual words, the Princess Consort came out. Yu Lou, who was accompanying her, asked, "Why didn't the Princess Consort stay a little longer?"

The princess breathed a sigh of relief: "Staying too long might make mistakes. As long as everything is arranged properly, it will be fine. Oh, and tell the front yard to prepare some more hangover soup, and also tell the gatekeeper to get the carriage ready."

The wind was strong at night, and riding a horse was inconvenient when one was drunk and unconscious; a carriage would be much safer.

Yulou quickly replied, "Yes, it is indeed the Fujin who is so thoughtful."

The princess was exhausted after a long day and didn't have the energy to think about anything else. After returning to the main courtyard and having dinner, she lay down on the couch and fell asleep.

Upon seeing this, Yu Ru quickly closed the outside window and took a thick cloak to cover the Fujin (the princess) with it, as the blanket was prone to slipping off.

By the time the princess woke up, it was already quite dark. She took a couple of sips of water to moisten her throat and asked, "How is it up ahead?"

“Third Master and Fifth Master have already gone back, and Fourth Master is also quite drunk. Earlier... it seems he went to Princess Li’s place,” Yu Ru replied.

The princess rubbed her temples again: "Never mind..."

Yu Ru glanced at the Fujin (principal wife) discreetly, noticing her pale complexion. She said, "Fujin, it's getting late. Hot water is ready. You should rest early. Tomorrow is the fifteenth." People from all over will be coming to pay their respects. How can you look so haggard?

The princess nodded and, with Yu Ru's help, went to take a bath. Afterward, she extinguished the candles and went to bed early.

...

Li Chenjiao had just started her dinner when she heard Qiu Hu outside say that Fourth Master had arrived.

Li Chenjiao didn't even have time to swallow the steamed shrimp dumplings in her mouth before she hurriedly went out.

Although Fourth Master had drunk quite a bit and was a little drunk, he had only drunk some hangover soup, so at this moment he could only be described as being drunk but not really sober.

Li Chenjiao still had shrimp dumplings in her mouth, so she mumbled a greeting and quickly swallowed the shrimp dumplings.
