Chapter 669 The Scoundrel

Fourth Master went to the main house first, but when he didn't see anyone, he went around to the study from under the veranda. When he saw two maids guarding outside, he knew that Li Chenjiao was in the study.

Qiu Hu, who was guarding the door, reacted quickly, but Su Peisheng behind Fourth Master made a shushing gesture to her.

Qiu Ci, who was standing nearby, tugged at Qiu Hu again. Qiu Hu subconsciously turned around, but Fourth Master had already walked straight past them into the study.

Seeing Qiu Ci's expression, Qiu Hu sighed helplessly, "The plum wine was just brought in."

Qiu Ci then remembered this detail, and she exclaimed in surprise... They knew their mistress's alcohol tolerance well...

They had assumed that their master would be staying at Song Gege's courtyard today, which was why they brought in the plum wine.

"But when the wine was being heated just now, it didn't smell like it could make you drunk..." Qiu Ci silently swallowed.

The two maids outside were both very worried.

There was a charcoal brazier that Xiao Luzi had brought in at the last minute in the study. It wasn't cold, but it was quiet when Fourth Master went in.

The silence in the study was common for Fourth Master. He wondered whether Li Chenjiao was reading or sleeping. Reading at night was bad for her eyes, but knowing Li Chenjiao's personality, she was probably asleep at the table.

I wonder who will complain of a sore neck tomorrow.

Fourth Master slowed his pace, a hint of a smile playing in his eyes.

After going around the screen and turning a corner, Fourth Master smelled a faint aroma of alcohol as he approached. He glanced at it and noticed the still-steaming wine on the table.

Li Chenjiao did not sleep peacefully on the table as Fourth Master had expected. Instead, she fell asleep in a rather improper posture, with the book obscuring her face. Fourth Master sighed softly.

Looking down again, one of Li Chenjiao's shoes was still in front of her. The string of beads on the shoe was not quite complete, and the marks on the shoe surface showed that it was Shizi's handiwork.

Looking at Li Chenjiao's feet dangling in mid-air, her socks were embroidered with auspicious cloud patterns, light and subtle, just to suit the occasion and prevent them from being too monotonous. Her dress covered them halfway, revealing nothing at all.

The Fourth Master suddenly squatted down, and only then could he vaguely see a bit of white grease.

This was not a gentlemanly gesture, so the Fourth Master lowered his head and stopped looking.

Compared to before with the Song family, Li Chenjiao didn't reveal anything this time, which made him... he couldn't ignore her and didn't want to miss her for even a second.

His Adam's apple bobbed as he picked up the shoes from the ground. He rarely did such a thing, but he was very careful, handling them bit by bit, as if they were some precious treasure.

After putting on that shoe, when Fourth Master stood up, he actually felt a little numb in his leg. He pulled up the armchair next to him and sat down, then leaned forward slightly and pulled the blanket up a bit.

Fourth Master didn't wake Li Chenjiao. Instead, he leaned back in his chair like she did. After a while, he suddenly sat up and drank a cup of plum wine from the table.

It was heated up, not spicy, but not too sweet either. It had a refreshing taste, and the heat brought a warm feeling, which was the kind of taste that Li Chenjiao would like. The Fourth Master drank one cup and then stopped.

He had only been gone a short while when Li Chenjiao, carrying him on her back, started warming up some wine to drink.

She clearly didn't want him to leave, but she wouldn't say a word.

Fourth Master looked at the empty wine cup, feeling both annoyed and amused.

When he arrived at Madam Song's residence and heard from the family physician, he realized that it wasn't Madam Song's doing. In the past two years, Madam Song had become much more cunning, somewhat like when she first entered the household.

When Song first entered the mansion...

Song was the first person to serve the Fourth Master, so there was naturally a bond between them. The Fourth Master had given Song the respect due to her over the past two years, but the bond between them was different.

There may have been different feelings in the past, but now it seems that the feelings that we cherished in our youth have vanished without a trace.

The same affection that the Fourth Prince had shown to his wife was also reserved for her.

He had feelings for both his wife and Lady Song, though not many.

But now...

Fourth Master raised his hand and used both hands to remove the scroll covering Li Chenjiao's face. Li Chenjiao was not startled, but her eyelashes trembled slightly.

Fourth Master covered his face with the scroll, so no one could see his expression.

He gave all his affections to others.

Fourth Master had heard Li Chenjiao tell many absurd legends in her books in the past, but in the past two years, two idle books would occasionally appear in Fourth Master's study, but no one noticed.

When Fourth Master was really tired or weary, he would occasionally take it out to read as a pastime.

However, what he found less vivid and interesting than what Li Chenjiao told him was not as engaging as what she said.

However, the Fourth Prince can now understand some of what was said in the storybooks.

For example, when it comes to matters of love and romance, it's rare that the Fourth Prince doesn't find them clichéd or laughable.

Fourth Master thought that he had feelings for Li Chenjiao, and that these feelings were unique to him.

It's unclear when it started, but Fourth Master was willing to do it.

The Fourth Prince's lips gradually curved upwards. He had only closed his eyes for a short while when a sudden, faint light appeared before him, a light that could be noticed even with his eyes closed.

About two seconds later, everything suddenly went dark again, and a warm touch was pressed against my eyelids.

Fourth Master didn't move, his smile undisguised.

"Who dares to be so bold as to break into the study of the concubine of the Prince's mansion?" Li Chenjiao's voice sounded harsh and fierce.

Fourth Master remained silent.

Li Chenjiao continued, "Tell me, what are you here for? For money or... sex?"

Li Chenjiao elongated the last word, and the Fourth Master could hear the undisguised smile in her voice.

The hand covering his eyes was still trembling slightly, and Li Chenjiao couldn't help but laugh as she spoke.

She was about to give up when the Fourth Master suddenly grabbed her wrist in the dark.
