Seeing this, the Fourth Prince lowered his head and stopped looking. He glanced at the few books piled up beside him, then casually flipped through two of them. One was a collection of letters from a great Confucian scholar of the previous dynasty, which taught his children. The other was a collection of storybooks that the Fourth Prince was familiar with, but the stories were ones he had never read before.
Li Chenjiao couldn't see, but she could hear the sound of Fourth Master turning the pages of the book.
"Why are you looking through my books, sir...?"
Fourth Master snorted: "You've put it here, but I'm not allowed to look at it?"
Look, even Fourth Master has learned to be unreasonable now.
Li Chenjiao remained silent, letting the Fourth Master see for himself.
When Qiu Hu and Qiu Ci brought in the bowl of hot noodles and a few side dishes, Fourth Master was even hungrier.
Li Chenjiao smelled the aroma of the old duck soup, and the ice cloth slowly fell down. In the end, she herself was also a little hungry.
Fourth Master pushed the small bowl in front of him, and the extra pair of chopsticks beside it.
The two exchanged a smile, and Li Chenjiao held out her hand to gather the small bowl and chopsticks in front of her: "We'd better eat quickly, because Wanwan and Aman will be back soon. Aman and Wanwan are picking lotus flowers in the garden. When you go to see the Fujin, keep an eye on them and don't let them play in the water too much."
Her tone was perfectly normal, but she was distracted as she tried to snatch the noodles from Fourth Master's bowl.
"It smells so good..." The aroma of the old duck soup made Li Chenjiao's appetite even better. Moreover... food always tastes better when people compete to eat it. Before lunch, Li Chenjiao had complained that the old duck soup was a bit too greasy, but now she wished she could drink the soup clean.
Li Chenjiao ate about half full during the meal, guessing that Fourth Master was probably about the same.
Li Chenjiao leaned against the soft couch, not wanting to move. However, the large blue-white bolster in the side room was not as comfortable as the one in her own room. She waved to the Fourth Master: "Master, remember to check on Aman and Wanwan. It's time to call them back for dinner."
From the time Fulu came to reply to the time the two finished their meal, about a quarter of an hour had passed. Li Chenjiao was too lazy to think about whether the Fujin would blame her. After eating and drinking her fill, she would leave the rest to the Fourth Prince.
Fourth Master didn't give a definite answer as to whether he would return, but he bit Li Chenjiao as he left, causing Li Chenjiao to hiss in pain.
Her wrist, which had been hanging by the side of the couch, was now propped up, and the Fourth Master was nowhere to be seen.
Looking at the teeth marks on her wrist, Li Chenjiao wondered if she had bumped into Fourth Master's teeth.
