At first, Fourth Master seemed a little worried, but soon he showed a bewildered expression that was almost identical to that in Li Chenjiao's dream. It was like... the expression that a sleeping persimmon would subconsciously show when Wanwan suddenly pinches its tail. Li Chenjiao couldn't help but burst out laughing.
Because of Li Chenjiao's smile, Fourth Master belatedly realized what Li Chenjiao had just said. His expression suddenly turned somewhat puzzled, and finally, he showed joy.
Li Chenjiao turned her head to brush away the stray strands of hair from her face, her eyes moist, and said softly, "Just now, Master clearly agreed that he wouldn't do anything no matter what I said."
Her voice was filled with many emotions, much like the Fourth Prince at this moment.
Fourth Master tightened his embrace, speechless for a moment.
Li Chenjiao immediately glared at him again: "I just said you're not allowed to move, you're not allowed to move."
Fourth Master showed no sign of anger at this, and upon hearing this, he finally stopped moving.
Li Chenjiao then asked, "Is Master so happy that he can't speak?"
Fourth Master lowered his head to search for Li Chenjiao's hands, but then thought that Li Chenjiao might be pressing on her stomach if she was buried in his arms like this, so he pulled Li Chenjiao around and let her back rest against his shoulder.
Place your palms together, then interlock your fingers.
"It was the day before you left the manor..." Fourth Master had already guessed which day it was.
Li Chenjiao couldn't see the Fourth Prince's face at this moment, which really diminished the fun. She hummed in agreement: "Yes, the imperial physician said that he has only been two months old and everything is stable."
That was the only time.
After asking that question, the Fourth Master fell silent again.
Li Chenjiao felt strange, so she looked up and asked, "Why isn't Master saying anything? Haven't you recovered yet?"
Fourth Master looked up and suddenly sighed, "Yes. I've thought about it many times, what it will be like with your children..."
Li Chenjiao gradually stopped smiling and asked, "So, what kind of image did you get from Aman and Wanwan, Master?"
Fourth Master hummed in agreement, his chin resting against the top of Li Chenjiao's head: "You've raised both children so well; I've neglected their upbringing. I've always hoped you'd have a happy marriage, but then I thought about how hard you've worked..."
Yes, whether it's getting pregnant, giving birth, or raising children, these are all things that Fourth Master can't help with; it's all Li Chenjiao's hard work alone.
The hardships that the two children have endured to grow up are not invisible to Fourth Master.
Before Li Chenjiao was pregnant, the Fourth Prince did hope that she would be pregnant, thinking that having more children would give her more companions, and that Li Chenjiao would have something to do when the two children went to school.
But now that Fourth Master actually knows that Li Chenjiao is pregnant, he suddenly feels uneasy.
Li Chenjiao hadn't expected Fourth Master to think of this. She raised her hand and covered her eyes with the back of her hand: "Yes, no wonder I haven't had much of an appetite these past few days. It turns out it's because of this thing in my belly..."
As she spoke, she placed her hand on Fourth Master's lower abdomen, but at this moment, she couldn't really feel any undulations.
The Fourth Prince immediately looked down at Li Chenjiao, and finally just bent his finger and gently stroked the tip of Li Chenjiao's thin chin.
"Aside from these, I won't let you suffer anywhere else." This was the only and most important promise the Fourth Master made.
Apart from the pain of childbirth, Fourth Master would never let Li Chenjiao suffer any other grievances.
Li Chenjiao suddenly laughed, then turned to look at Fourth Master: "This was originally a joyous occasion, why are you bringing this up, Master? If you treat me badly, Wanwan and the others will not tolerate it in the future."
Fourth Master touched Li Chenjiao's belly. The lamp was dim, and he kissed Li Chenjiao's eyebrows and eyes, closed his eyes, and raised his hand to hold her slender waist.
"Ah Jiao, stay by my side." It was almost a murmur.
Li Chenjiao's eyelids trembled slightly. She responded softly with a hint of sincerity: "Until we grow old together."
And so, quietly, Li Chenjiao finally fell asleep in Fourth Master's arms.
By the time Fourth Master realized it, Li Chenjiao was already fast asleep.
He smiled helplessly, carefully pulled her into his arms, slipped his hands under Li Chenjiao's knees, lifted her up, and carried her to the bed in the inner room.
Fourth Master settled the person on the inside of the bed. He also took off his shoes and socks and got onto the bed. He turned to the side, brushed aside the fine hair that was covering Li Chenjiao's eyes, and suppressed his breathing and the smile on his lips.
At this moment, Fourth Master suddenly became happy again.
Yes, this is his and Li Chenjiao's third child.
Li Chenjiao was already asleep. Fourth Master didn't dare to raise his hand to touch Li Chenjiao's lower abdomen. He watched silently, his eyes getting sore, but he refused to look away.
Even the Fourth Prince himself didn't realize how time had passed.
...
In the middle of the night, Li Chenjiao woke up in a daze, again because she was hungry.
However, when she turned her head, she couldn't see Fourth Master beside her. She blinked to confirm, and Fourth Master was indeed not there...
Did the Fourth Master go to change his clothes in the middle of the night?
Li Chenjiao propped herself up and looked at the bedside. Something was wrong. Fourth Master's shoes and socks were still there.
Fourth Master went out barefoot...
Fourth Master, you're in too much of a hurry.
Li Chenjiao rubbed her stomach, thought for a moment, and then sat up, waiting for Fourth Master to return.
She waited for a while, but Fourth Master didn't return. Instead, she heard some faint noises, something like... the sound of bells.
Li Chenjiao thought she had misheard, so she listened carefully again, and then she heard the sound of something scraping across the floor.
Is Fourth Master outside?
Li Chenjiao quietly slipped on her shoes and went to the outer room in the dark.
Because she hadn't brought a candle, Li Chenjiao walked rather carefully, only looking down when her toes bumped into something.
It's a hydrangea, a very small one.
It's... one of the little trinkets from the box the two kids brought today, but how did it end up here?
Li Chenjiao bent down to pick up the embroidered ball. She took two more steps forward and stood by the side of the screen. She leaned against the screen and looked ahead.
Sure enough, we spotted Fourth Master next to the box. He was squatting down, and there were already quite a few trinkets piled up at his feet.
Li Chenjiao paused, then suddenly smiled.
She watched for a while, and seeing that Fourth Master showed no sign of stopping anytime soon, she quietly returned to the inner room.
She didn't lie down, but instead placed a large pillow behind her back.
...
Fourth Master really couldn't sleep tonight. He hadn't felt this way even when he knew Li Chenjiao was pregnant the other two times.
I don't know if it's because of the dramatic ups and downs or some other reason.
Tossing and turning at night, this is exactly what I'm going through.
The Fourth Master couldn't sleep, and when he went to the outer room and saw these little trinkets, he became interested.
Now he's even more wide awake.
When Fourth Master returned to the inner room, Li Chenjiao was already starving.
Before Fourth Master had even lain down, Li Chenjiao asked in a low, pitiful voice, "Master is back?"
