Chapter 742 Good Mood

Because the Fourth Master was recuperating from his injuries, Li Chenjiao ordered a lighter dinner, but she still considered her own appetite a little. However, at least the dishes placed in front of the Fourth Master were relatively light.

Li Chenjiao didn't even glance at the food in front of Fourth Master, otherwise she wouldn't have been able to enjoy her meal.

The two children hadn't seen Fourth Master for a while, but they weren't too unfamiliar with each other. It was mealtime, and the two children served Fourth Master a couple of bites of food. Considering that Fourth Master was unwell, Li Chenjiao served the food to the two children on his behalf.

Furthermore, the Fourth Master wasn't quite sure what the two children liked to eat.

Perhaps they knew one or two dishes that the two children liked, but none of them were on the table today.

He knew that the Second Princess loved sweet foods, but he couldn't say exactly what she liked. As for the Fourth Prince, his impression of Wanwan was limited to the fact that the child was a picky eater.

While Li Chenjiao was serving food to the two children, Fourth Master also took the opportunity to note down what the two children liked to eat.

After dinner, Li Chenjiao personally applied medicine to the Fourth Master. She saw that the Fourth Master's injuries were getting better, but Li Chenjiao still guessed that there would be scars. Although they wouldn't be visible during the day, they would still be quite frightening if seen at night.

Also, it didn't feel very comfortable to touch, Li Chenjiao sighed silently.

After she finished sighing and looked up, she met the Fourth Master's somewhat complicated gaze.

Fourth Master didn't seem to care that Li Chenjiao's hands were covered in the ointment he had just applied to his wounds. He held Li Chenjiao's hand and said, "I'm perfectly fine, aren't I?"

Li Chenjiao: ? ? ?

Yes, yes, yes, Fourth Master, you're absolutely right.

After taking a bath that night, Li Chenjiao told the Fourth Prince about the letter Zhao Jia had written to her. At first, the Fourth Prince asked who Zhao Jia was, but after learning that she was the concubine of the Third Brother's household, he hummed in agreement: "The interactions between you women are none of our business. However... be careful with your words and letters."

However, Fourth Master knew that Li Chenjiao still had this sense of propriety.

Li Chenjiao smiled after hearing this. Of course, the reason she could confide in Zhaojia and Cao was that she knew how to keep things in check. She was aware of whether or not to talk about each other's affairs.

After her bath, Li Chenjiao no longer smelled of the ointment she had applied to Fourth Master.

The delicate floral fragrance was exceptionally soothing. Li Chenjiao felt a little sleepy, and her hand under the quilt instinctively reached out to wrap around Fourth Master's hand. She closed her eyes slightly and said, "You must take good care of yourself while you're out here."

Both of them understood each other's meaning. Fourth Master fumbled to interlock his fingers with Li Chenjiao's and said softly, "Okay."

"As for the Fujin (princess), her health isn't very good right now, so you don't need to worry about her," the Fourth Prince suddenly instructed, as if he had thought of something.

"Need not to worry about" means that you don't need to care about anything, whether it's good or bad.

Li Chenjiao understood what the Fourth Master meant, so she naturally wouldn't interfere. The morning greetings at the main courtyard on the fifteenth of this month were all waived.

She smiled and said okay.

She was just getting ready to sleep when Fourth Master suddenly couldn't stop talking: "By the way, your pregnancy is progressing quite far, so don't bother preparing for my birthday. I'll be waiting for you..."

The Fourth Master paused midway through his sentence. He thought he had already failed in his duty enough by not knowing what the two children liked to eat, but he didn't expect that he didn't even know Li Chenjiao's birthday.

Over the years, Li Chenjiao seems to have never mentioned it.

Noticing the Fourth Master's pause, Li Chenjiao replied somewhat absentmindedly, "Then I'll save myself the trouble and wait until the baby in my belly is born before we all have a big celebration."

Seeing this, the Fourth Prince stopped and changed the subject: "In a while, I will have Su Peisheng select midwives from the Imperial Household Department. It seems that you don't have enough people to serve you here. You can also see if you have any suitable ones."

Fourth Master had long noticed that Li Chenjiao didn't have enough servants around her.

Li Chenjiao responded vaguely, barely making out what the Fourth Master was saying.

Li Chenjiao slept well and woke up quite early the next day. Because she hadn't woken up during the night, she was actually woken up by hunger. She had eaten quite a lot for dinner the night before, but she was still hungry.

However, to her surprise, the Fourth Master, who was ill, woke up even earlier. Li Chenjiao didn't see the Fourth Master when she woke up. When Qiu Hu came in, Li Chenjiao asked when the Fourth Master had left.

A quarter of an hour ago, Qiu Hu said with a teasing smile, "Before Master left, he asked me what day Master's birthday was."

Li Chenjiao was taken aback and immediately asked, "What did Master say after he found out?"

Qiu Hu was still laughing: "Master only said 'I understand,' and then told the servants to serve their master well."

The last sentence was the usual admonition.

Li Chenjiao was a little hungry: "Alright, I want to eat osmanthus-flavored lotus root rice today, and I also want to eat sweet potato rice porridge... I'll ask the kitchen to make some pancakes, anything will do."

Just a couple of days ago, Li Chenjiao didn't really like sweet things, but today she suddenly had a craving for something sweet.

Li Chenjiao asked again if the two children were still there, since they had gone out with Fourth Master.

After Qiu Hu went out to give instructions, Li Chenjiao remembered something else: "Let's put away the birthday gift that was originally prepared for Fourth Master, since it's not finished yet."

Qiu Hu didn't ask any further questions and readily agreed.

While eating a bowl of sticky osmanthus-flavored lotus root rice for breakfast, Li Chenjiao didn't think about anything and had a rare good appetite.

Perhaps it's because I slept well last night?
