"Doctor, doctor, come quick! She's awake! She's awake!"
Cailian, who had been lying by the bedside watching over Chen Nian, had tears welling up in her eyes as she looked at Chen Nian's curled-up fingers.
It's good that she's back.
"Cai Cai?"
Shen Nian opened his eyes, looked at the person guarding his bedside, stared at the snow-white ceiling above him, and was momentarily dazed.
She felt as if she had lived a whole life, and everything in her dream felt so real.
"You're finally awake."
Cailian bent down and hugged Chennian, tears welling up in her eyes.
She finally woke up.
What's wrong with me?
...
Meanwhile, in H City, at the Hong family residence.
"Brother Ce, Brother Ce, I dreamt about our daughter. I dreamt that our daughter was in City A, and her name was Chen Nian."
Startled awake, Shen Huairou's forehead was covered in a thick layer of sweat.
Hongce, who was sitting on the edge of the bed dealing with company matters while his gaze fell on the sleeping woman on the bed, was shocked to hear Shen Huairou's words. He stood up in shock, not caring that the computer on his lap had fallen to the ground.
...
Eight o'clock in the morning.
Chen Nian, still half asleep, was awakened by a ringing phone. He groggily reached out and pressed the answer button.
"Dr. Shen, how long have you been resting? Shouldn't you be back at work?"
A kind and humble voice reached Chen Nian's ears.
"Dean Wang, I don't want to go to work right now."
He spoke slowly and deliberately, lost in thought.
She hasn't calmed down yet and plans to rest for a while longer.
She felt like she had entered the world of Huanzhu Gege, and the feeling was so real.
But Cai Cai told her that she had fainted because she was too tired from work.
"Chen Nian, Niannian, please come, Grandpa begs you."
Dean Wang continued speaking humbly.
"Let me rest for a few more months."
Hearing that humble plea, Chen Nian paused for a few seconds before speaking.
"Okay, okay, it's a promise, just a few months, you can't stand me up again."
Upon hearing the agreement, Dean Wang was shocked for a few seconds, fearing the person might change their mind, and then hung up the phone.
Over the next few months, Chen Nian traveled to various places.
After composing myself, I returned to the hospital.
Good morning, Dr. Shen!
"Hello, Dr. Shen!"
"Dr. Shen is finally back—"
On her way to the office, people greeted Chen Nian along the way, and Chen Nian smiled and nodded in response to each one.
Little did they know that her smile caused a sensation throughout the entire floor, with many wondering if they were seeing things.
You know, Dr. Shen is a famously cold and aloof beauty, yet she actually smiled at them today—it's a miracle!
Shen Nian didn't know if her dream was real, but she was very happy in it, and all the gloom that had been weighing on her heart dissipated.
"Bang--"
"Excuse me--"
"sorry--"
Shen Nian was looking down at her phone, replying to Cai Lian's messages. She didn't look at the road ahead for a moment, and her phone was thrown to the ground. Shen Nian could vaguely see a few words.
'Everything you've experienced is real, so what else could be coming to find you?'
Chen Nian had already forgotten about her phone. She subconsciously said sorry, and looked up to meet a pair of excited phoenix eyes and a handsome, refined face.
The person opposite, after saying sorry, raised their head and stared at the person opposite them. Their usually indifferent eyes were suddenly filled with excitement.
Before I could even speak.
"Nian Nian—"
"Young one—"
"Jiaojiao—"
Many different shouts came from not far away...
Both of them turned their heads...
The End.
——————————————
That's all for now. This book is now complete. Thank you all for your support along the way.
See you in my next book if we're destined to meet again! My new book, a period drama titled "Sweet and Pampered! I'm the Darling of the Group in the 70s," is still a typical darling story. Those who are interested can check it out.
The following is the author's rambling.
To be honest, I never expected to write such a long book, and I even gave up on another one because of this one.
To be honest, there are many plot points that I didn't write in full, and many plot points that I wrote in my notes to add to the text were not included, which I find quite regrettable.
However, I think it's enough to give them a happy ending.
After thinking about it, I decided not to write side stories for the other characters. They are all living their best lives in the book.
Imperfection is what makes things most suitable.
Nothing is perfect.
Niannian's heart disease is not necessarily curable even in modern times, let alone in the Qing Dynasty, so Niannian's fate was predetermined.
I hadn't originally planned to write a modern story, and I struggled with the decision for a long time, even feeling anxious. But after thinking about it, I realized I had to give them a happy ending, so I wrote a simple modern short story as a conclusion.
Regarding Cailian, the only thing that can be said is that Cailian went to the world of Huanzhu for Nian Nian. She was destined not to fall in love with Benjamin. Her goal from beginning to end was only one: to go for Nian Nian.
As mentioned earlier in the text, she would leave eventually. She came here because she asked her second brother for help. Her second brother is not simple, and her identity is not simple either. I won't go into details here; that's the story of the next book. This book mainly focuses on Niannian and Ertai.
Cailian knew exactly when she would leave, so she remained clear-headed and rational. The only person who moved her was Niannian; Niannian was her only exception.
As for Benjamin, as mentioned before, Cailian is a noble young lady in the real world. She grew up in such a family environment, and there are no shortage of people who like her, whether for her looks, her money, or her family background. There are many who pursue her passionately. She may have been moved by Benjamin's sincerity for a moment, but she will not fall for him.
To be honest, my initial idea was that Cailian would become a transmigrator for Niannian's sake. This is foreshadowing, and I might write a book about Cailian's transmigration later, so I won't go into detail here.
That's all for now regarding lotus picking.
What I want to talk about most is Fu Yuxing. Initially, I thought the same as everyone else, that he would be paired with Xinrong. But when I started writing about him, he seemed to come alive and have his own consciousness. When I was silently thinking about pairing him with Xinrong, I clearly felt his unwillingness.
So I changed it. Even though I knew it would be easier for me to write about him and Xinrong as a couple and that the ending of the book would be more perfect, I still changed it and chose to follow Yuxing's wishes.
His lifelong vow of remaining unmarried was the best declaration of his love for this relationship.
Xinrong remained unmarried her entire life, a testament to her unwavering commitment.
Reflecting on the past, goodbye.
Goodbye, Ertai.
Goodbye, Qing'er.
Goodbye, Yongxuan.
Goodbye, Fu Yuxing.
Goodbye, Xinrong.
Goodbye, Little Swallow.
Goodbye, Yongqi.
Goodbye, Lotus Picker.
Goodbye, Benjamin.
Goodbye, Your Majesty, Your Majesty, and Your Majesty the Empress.
Dear friends, thank you for your company. May we meet again someday.
