Mingxiu's braised pork is made using modern methods, cutting the pork into small pieces. Then she adds eggs or quail eggs and simmers it.
Hangzhou's Dongpo pork, however, is cut into large chunks and tied together with rope. I don't know why they do that, but eating large pieces of meat is so satisfying. It's braised with wine and pork belly, then lightly fried and steamed for too long. Now the fat isn't fatty at all, it melts in your mouth, with thin skin and tender meat, rich flavor and thick sauce, tender yet retaining its shape, fragrant and glutinous without being greasy. Pour some sauce over it and serve with rice, it's just too delicious.
After finishing all the dishes, Mingxiu rubbed her stomach. She was basically full now, and saw that there was only one last dish left on the table.
Mingxiu picked up her chopsticks and gently brought the West Lake Fish in Vinegar Sauce closer.
West Lake Vinegar Fish is a traditional famous dish of Hangzhou since ancient times, characterized by its tender fish and rich vinegar flavor, making it a unique dish.
Mingxiu had never eaten it before, but she had seen the video before. Opinions online were really mixed. She only knew that certain ingredients could have such mixed reviews, such as cilantro, celery, and houttuynia cordata. These were things that people either loved or hated.
But she never knew that a dish made from fish, which everyone likes, was actually disliked by so many people.
Curious, I picked up a piece of fish. It looked like sweet and sour fish, and it smelled delicious. I took a small bite.
Mingxiu's expression changed instantly, and she spat out the fish in her mouth. Seeing Mingxiu's expression, Green Bamboo quickly poured her a glass of water.
Mingxiu picked up her teacup and rinsed her mouth.
After rinsing my mouth several times, I finally felt the taste in my mouth dissipate a bit.
Mingxiu felt tears welling up in her eyes. She looked at the West Lake Vinegar Fish with a sense of wanting to cry but having no tears. It seemed that she was also someone who couldn't stand the taste of West Lake Vinegar Fish.
Who would cook like this? It's so cruel! Would anyone actually eat it? It looks similar to sweet and sour fish, but who could possibly stand the sour and fishy taste?
Is this fish dying with its eyes wide open in disbelief? It's fine to die, but to make it taste so awful, the fish must feel like it died for nothing.
Mingxiu frowned and complained to the two of them about how awful the fish was.
Green Bamboo and Yu Lan exchanged a glance, looking curiously at the West Lake Vinegar Fish. They wondered how bad this dish could be to make their lady, who wasn't usually picky about food, dislike it so much.
They picked up their chopsticks, each took a small piece of fish, and gently sipped it to taste.
After taking a bite, Green Bamboo's expression turned strange, while Yu Lan next to her started stuffing rice into her mouth.
Green Bamboo looked at Mingxiu, then at Yulan, picked up a piece of fish, and put it heavily into her mouth.
Seeing the two of them, Mingxiu immediately understood that Lvzhu could accept the taste of the dish, but Yulan and she clearly could not.
After lamenting the wickedness of the dish, the three sat for a while to digest before heading out for a stroll. Having eaten and drunk their fill, they naturally needed to buy some necessities.
This time, the three of them mainly went to jewelry stores and clothing stores, buying whatever they liked. Mingxiu also bought gifts for everyone.
The three of them strolled around until dark before heading back, and of course, they didn't forget to bring back some of the delicious dishes that Kangxi had eaten.
After eating the dishes, Emperor Kangxi commented that although they were not as refined as those in the palace, they still tasted quite good.
Mingxiu pouted. The food in the palace was the most exquisite, but she was tired of eating it for so long. This food was still the best.
After finishing their meal, Kangxi began to tell Mingxiu about their plans for the next few days.
"I'm going out tomorrow. The ministers in Hangzhou will be hosting a banquet, and I'll also be going to inspect the area. You can stay here and have fun. When I get back, I'll take you out for some more fun. Then we should head back," Kangxi said patiently to Mingxiu as he sat on the couch.
Mingxiu nodded. Of course, she hadn't forgotten the purpose of their visit. Kangxi must have his own things to do; she just needed to mind her own business.
"Your Majesty, please rest assured, I will take good care of myself. Please be careful when you go out later. When Your Majesty returns, shall we go out for a picnic together?"
Mingxiu blinked her bright eyes and looked at Kangxi expectantly.
Emperor Kangxi raising an eyebrow during a picnic?
Mingxiu nodded. "Yes, yes, let's find a scenic spot, bring some food, and eat and play outside, okay?"
Kangxi thought for a moment, then nodded, noticing the nervous look in Mingxiu's eyes.
"Long live the Emperor!" Mingxiu cheered instantly, hugging Kangxi's waist and swaying back and forth.
Kangxi was quite helpless, and carefully held Mingxiu in his arms to prevent her from falling.
The night was filled with more commotion, and when Mingxiu opened her eyes the next day, there was no one beside her.
Mingxiu pursed her lips, knowing that Kangxi had already left. She slowly got out of bed. She had been out all day yesterday and was quite tired, so she didn't really want to go out today.
After getting up and eating some breakfast, they picked up the storybooks they had bought in the study yesterday and excitedly began to read them.
Mingxiu hadn't planned to visit the bookstore yesterday, but as she walked, she came across a very large bookstore and saw many young women coming out of it, all dressed in very bright colors.
They were all young ladies from wealthy families, judging by their appearance.
Mingxiu was a little curious, because usually scholars frequented this study, so why were there so many young women coming out of it?
So Mingxiu led Luzhu and the others inside, and then they couldn't get out.
Mingxiu looked excitedly at the picture books in her hands, looking at this one and that one, and finally bought a whole bunch.
He had just come out from inside.
These storybooks were newly released. Mingxiu looked at the thin picture books with excitement. They were quite different from the stories of lovesick men and women, scholars and rich ladies that she had read before.
This section contains more martial arts stories, but they are all about the untold stories of martial arts leaders, heroes, rich young ladies, and temple nuns.
There are also some things that the prefects and governors have to say.
After the general and the courtesan had a one-night stand.
The boldness of the name impressed even Mingxiu.
Mingxiu looked at one of the books with shining eyes, remarking on the unspoken stories of the Prefect and Governor. Her eyes sparkled, thinking how open-minded the literary atmosphere was in Jiangnan.
And I wonder who had the audacity to think that Mingxiu could still be shipping couples in the Qing Dynasty three hundred years ago.
I have some free time today, so I can curl up here and read some storybooks.
