Chapter 145 Outing 2

He shook his head, no longer trying to stop her. He took a small stool, sat by the river, and held a fishing rod in his hand. The fish food was a mixture of freshly dug earthworms and the leftover meat they had just eaten. After setting up the fish food, he cast the fishing rod into the water. There was a table next to him with a plate of pastries and tea on it.

Kangxi found a shady spot and sat down to fish, occasionally checking on what Mingxiu and the others were doing.

Life was too easy and carefree. Listening to the laughter of Mingxiu and the others beside him, and the sound of the wind blowing, Kangxi smiled and unknowingly fell asleep.

When he opened his eyes again, he saw a flower fairy walking towards him with a huge bouquet of flowers in her hands.

At first, Kangxi didn't realize who it was, but upon closer inspection, he saw that it was Mingxiu walking over.

Seeing Mingxiu's attire, Kangxi couldn't help but chuckle, "How many flowers and plants have you ruined?"

Mingxiu was wearing a flower wreath on her head. The wreath was made of willow branches and leaves and was covered with so many fresh flowers that it was almost impossible to see her face clearly.

She was also holding a large bunch of various wildflowers, which looked pretty, but because they were so big, they almost covered her up. From a distance, it looked like a bunch of flowers had grown legs and was moving.

When Emperor Kangxi saw Mingxiu like this, he couldn't help but laugh.

"Hahaha"

Hearing Kangxi's laughter, Mingxiu pursed her lips speechlessly and glared at him, but the bouquet in front of her was too big, and she couldn't see Kangxi clearly, so the effect of her glance was not strong.

When Mingxiu finally reached Kangxi, he was already laughing uncontrollably. He stood up and helped Mingxiu put down the flowers in her hand.

Looking at Mingxiu, she exclaimed, "Where did you go to get this huge bouquet of flowers? You really are a flower fairy!"

"Your Majesty, all you do is criticize others."

This flower was brought especially for you by your concubine. Don't you find it beautiful?

When the flowers dry, you can sun-dry them and make dried flowers. You can hang them up or put them inside your pillow; the fragrance will help you sleep at night.

Mingxiu glared at Kangxi, embarrassed and annoyed.

Seeing Mingxiu's increasingly angry expression, Kangxi forcefully suppressed the smile that was about to appear on his lips. "Alright, alright, it was my fault. I apologize to my beloved consort. My dear consort, you've worked hard. Please sit down and rest."

As she spoke, she placed the chair that the servants had just brought over in front of Mingxiu, and Mingxiu sat down to rest for a while.

Mingxiu glanced at Kangxi, snorted coldly, and sat down in the chair.

She glanced at Kangxi's bucket and exclaimed, "Oh dear, I thought Your Majesty could catch a lot! Why is it all empty? Did Your Majesty think it was too small and release it again?"

The smile on Kangxi's lips instantly froze on his face.

Seeing Kangxi's stiff expression, Mingxiu covered her mouth and secretly laughed, letting him mock her.

Kangxi was speechless at Mingxiu's sly smile. Sitting in his chair, the two of them started bickering, each saying something in response to the other.

Behind them, Liang Jiugong and Lüzhu exchanged a glance and both smiled faintly.

Suddenly, the fishing rod in front of Kangxi began to shake violently.

Kangxi's expression changed, and he quickly disregarded his argument with Mingxiu, stepped forward and grabbed his fishing rod, but he couldn't pull it up.

Kangxi glanced at it in surprise, gripped the rod with both hands, shook it gently a couple of times, and then suddenly swung the fishing rod up with a burst of strength.

Mingxiu excitedly followed Kangxi after he ran past.

Then I saw a heavy black object hanging from the fishing rod.

Ming Xiuxiu immediately cried out in surprise.

Wow, what a big fish!

The servants nearby quickly brought over a bucket, and Kangxi used a fishing rod to put the fish into the bucket.

Then everyone gathered around to look at the fish in the bucket. It was a black silver carp, and Kangxi was quite surprised to see it.

This fish looks to weigh almost 20 pounds, no wonder it's so heavy.

"Wow, Your Majesty! You're truly amazing! Such a big fish, it's not something an ordinary person could lift. You really live up to your reputation as the Emperor!" Mingxiu looked at the fish in the bucket and gave Kangxi a big thumbs up in amazement.

Emperor Kangxi was also quite pleased with himself; he hadn't expected to catch such a big fish.

Mingxiu looked at the fish in the bucket, then glanced at the fish from left to right. It was getting late, and they had already eaten their fill.

“Your Majesty, no one is hungry at this time. Why don’t we cook it when we get back tonight and invite the officials over for a meal? It would also be a good opportunity for them to see the 20-pound fish Your Majesty caught,” Mingxiu said to Kangxi.

Kangxi thought about it for a moment and realized that the fish was indeed quite large, and they couldn't finish it all. He had also arranged for the others to go out and do some work, and they had been working hard lately, so this fish could help them replenish their energy.

So he nodded.

Then someone collected the fish.

Kangxi's enthusiasm for fishing had waned, and it was getting late, but Mingxiu didn't really want to go back.

He wandered around for a bit, and then his eyes fell on the horse they had ridden when they arrived.

She's never ridden a horse before.

Mingxiu walked up to Kangxi, grabbed his sleeve, lifted her chin, and blinked her bright eyes at him.

Kangxi was still pondering the matter he had arranged when he was suddenly pulled by Mingxiu and caught off guard, his eyes meeting hers.

He looked at Mingxiu with some confusion, and saw Mingxiu look at him, then at the horse not far away, and then look up at him again.
