Chapter 167 Fever

She dreamt that she returned to the modern era and went to a club to choose a man. One of the men there looked exactly like Emperor Kangxi, so Mingxiu chose him and had him drink and sing with her. He even acted coquettishly towards her in a very gentle way.

In short, he took very good care of her, and when Mingxiu left, he even paid for her for a month.

Kangxi winked and tugged at Mingxiu's clothes, pleading, "Sister, come again next time! I'll be waiting for you right here."

Mingxiu was overjoyed and was about to say something when Green Bamboo woke her up.

Once Mingxiu's thoughts had cleared up a bit, she heard the imperial physician say that her fever was caused by a cold, and that she couldn't take any medicine because she was pregnant. She could only drink some ginger soup, rest, and wait for her to get better.

"Your Majesty, have some water. How are you feeling?"

Mingxiu nodded slightly, drank some water from Luzhu's hand, and then felt the burning sensation in her nose subside.

"Your Majesty, please don't overeat next time. Fortunately, this time it's just a slight fever. You'll be fine after drinking some ginger soup to sweat it out. If it were more serious, Your Majesty would be the one suffering," Green Bamboo said earnestly.

Mingxiu nodded, her mind still foggy, feeling dizzy and unable to open her eyes.

After drinking the water, she drifted off to sleep. Someone called her to drink something, but Mingxiu was too sleepy to keep her eyes open, so she ignored them.

As a result, someone picked her up and forced her to drink a bowl of ginger soup before she finally fell asleep.

When Mingxiu opened her eyes again, she saw Kangxi sitting by her bedside reading a book.

Mingxiu blinked, her thoughts returning to normal. She then realized that she was sticky and covered in sweat, and moved around uncomfortably.

"You're awake. Drink some water before you talk." When Kangxi saw that Mingxiu was awake, he handed her a cup of tea. Mingxiu quickly drank the tea and felt a little better.

He smiled obsequiously at Kangxi and said, "What are you doing here, Your Majesty?"

Kangxi glanced at Mingxiu, his expression somewhat unfriendly.

Seeing that Kangxi was silent, Mingxiu knew he was angry. She reached out and gently tugged at his clothes, her brows furrowed and her expression aggrieved: "Your Majesty, I was wrong. I shouldn't have eaten such cold food."

Emperor Kangxi was very worried when he heard that Mingxiu was sick, so he rushed over as soon as court was over. However, when he arrived, he found out that Mingxiu had developed a fever because she had eaten cold food.

But now, looking at Mingxiu's pitiful pale lips due to the fever, he didn't say anything. He just put her sweat-dampened hair aside and said, "You're just taking advantage of my pity for you. You can't do this again, understand? If I find out you do this again, I'll punish the palace servants."

Mingxiu nodded, then rubbed her hand against Kangxi's hand, a little embarrassed.

Looking at Kangxi's expression, Mingxiu recalled the dream she had that morning.

She couldn't help but laugh again; it was just too funny. Why would she have such a dream?

Emperor Kangxi, looking at Mingxiu's silly grin, could tell she was lost in thought.

He shook his head, realizing he still needed to keep a closer eye on things.

Of course, in the end, Emperor Kangxi did not let the palace staff in Yonghe Palace off lightly, and each of them was fined half a year's salary.

When Mingxiu found out, she was heartbroken. Palace servants all lived on their salaries, but there was nothing she could do about it. She could only secretly make up for the lost salaries herself.

After all, they were punished because of their own willfulness.

When Mingxiu woke up in the afternoon and felt completely relaxed, she knew that she was cured. However, she still couldn't be exposed to the wind, so Mingxiu could only lie in bed and read storybooks.

When Yinreng finished school, he heard the news that his mother, Consort Ming, was ill. He rushed over to see her, followed by Yinti and Yinzhi.

Seeing Yinreng showing concern for her, Mingxiu felt very satisfied. Only after she told him that she was alright did she put Yinreng at ease.

Since Mingxiu was ill and unable to entertain them, Yinreng was asked to entertain his brothers in his place.

The three of them had dinner there, and then Yinreng led them to pick a lot of fruit. Afterwards, they thanked Mingxiu with satisfaction and then led their respective palace servants back home.

Only after Yinreng left did Mingxiu finally relax completely.

Mingxiu lay listlessly in bed for two days, during which time Consort Hui came to visit her once.

When Consort Hui heard the news that Mingxiu was sick, she was very anxious and thought that Mingxiu had fallen ill.

When he found out why Mingxiu was sick, he looked at her with a helpless and disappointed expression.

Mingxiu shrank her neck. She didn't know what was wrong with her; she just really had a sweet tooth.

After two days, when she felt completely better, Mingxiu was finally allowed to take a bath.

She quickly asked someone to prepare water so she could have a good, thorough bath. She was covered in sweat from the fever, but she couldn't take a bath, and Mingxiu had been enduring it for several days.

Feeling that she smelled terrible, Mingxiu lifted her sleeve and sniffed herself, then wrinkled her nose.

She can't accept herself now, which is full of odor.

After taking a bath, Mingxiu finally felt better, as her stomach, which had been craving plain porridge for several days due to illness, could finally be satisfied.

Although I was eating relatively light meals because of my illness, it wasn't as light as the meals I ate during my illness.

Mingxiu took a bite of sweet and sour pork with satisfaction, squinting her eyes in enjoyment. How come she never realized sweet and sour pork was so delicious before?

Mingxiu originally thought that the matter was completely over, but it turned out that she was just thinking that way.
