Everyone was just there to watch the spectacle of Consort Fucha, but she's really messed up.
When Emperor Kangxi saw the person who had delivered the goods, he sighed.
Looking at the things in his hand, which were written on the "Equalization of Land Tax and Labor Service Plan," he had compiled these things over the past few days.
Kangxi's eyes were filled with complex emotions. During this time, he had been reading through everything related to the Qing Dynasty in his spatial storage. He went from disbelief at his own actions in his later years to guilt towards his children, to seeing what Yinzhen did after ascending the throne, and finally to his death from exhaustion at his desk.
What happened next really infuriated him, but he couldn't say anything about it and had to keep it to himself.
A great emperor, especially a proud man like Kangxi, could not accept that he had become so incompetent in his later years, and that his children had paid the price because of him, and that he had almost squandered the national treasury.
Because he couldn't let go of power, his beloved son did some unforgivable things. His inability to let go of power led to the tragic struggle for the throne among the nine princes. His inability to let go of power resulted in a lack of capable people when Yinzhen ascended the throne.
He ran out of money and eventually worked himself to death.
These events nearly broke him. Kangxi was in a bad mood, and naturally, he couldn't bear to see others doing well, especially those in the court whom he knew had made mistakes.
Therefore, the ministers in the court had to prepare pills every time they went to court during this period, because the emperor's ability to find fault with even the smallest things was really too great.
The ministers were so overwhelmed by what they were said that they almost choked on their own breath several times.
The atmosphere in the entire court will not be very good.
Everyone had to be very careful when attending court, for fear of being scolded for saying the wrong thing.
But later, we saw the changes that occurred because of Mingxiu's arrival: the Wuya clan was gone, the sea ban was lifted ahead of schedule, and even Yinreng was very different.
Kangxi knew that these things could be changed, so his mood gradually calmed down.
During this period, many shortcomings were reformed based on various events, and even Yinzhen's land tax reform was modified in preparation for implementation.
He wanted to isolate all the bad factors so that the Qing Dynasty could become better.
So Kangxi quickly figured it out.
So during this period, the ministers suddenly felt that the emperor's mood had improved, and the most direct feeling was that the emperor no longer nitpicked in court.
Although Emperor Kangxi issued many notices and policies, very few people actually opposed them. Everyone was trembling with fear and dared not voice any objections, so they simply carried them out.
Mingxiu, while in the inner palace, also heard about the various policy changes of the previous dynasty. She felt both happy and worried. She was happy that the Qing Dynasty had made changes, so things would definitely change afterward, and China would not suffer many tragic events.
The worry is that we don't know if these changes will have any impact on her world.
But whether she was happy or worried, Mingxiu knew that these changes were inevitable when Kangxi was able to enter the space.
The previous dynasty was constantly busy, with the emperor ordering them around every day. Even Yinreng and his three brothers were brought in by Kangxi to help, ostensibly to familiarize themselves with the emperor beforehand.
As a result, these four people were exhausted like dogs every day.
However, people's lives have indeed improved visibly, and apart from a few people whose own interests are at stake, everyone else is very happy.
Before they knew it, winter had arrived. The Empress Dowager and the Imperial Noble Consort were in poor health, so they had long since excused themselves from paying their respects to the concubines.
Mingxiu sat in the pavilion, brewing tea by the stove, watching the snow falling outside. She held a book in her hand and was wrapped in a thick cloak, feeling warm and cozy.
When Kangxi walked in through the snow, he saw this scene. Mingxiu in the snow looked like an elf, as if she might fly away at any moment.
The sounds around her suddenly subsided, and Mingxiu turned her head to be met with a pair of eyes.
For a moment, looking at Kangxi whom she hadn't seen for half a year, she felt as if she had been in another world.
At the same time, a tremendous longing rose in my heart.
"So it turns out I didn't miss him after all?" Mingxiu asked herself, looking into Kangxi's eyes.
The two stared at each other until Mingxiu finally broke the silence, smiling as she asked, "Your Majesty, what brings you here today? Have you made up your mind?"
Seeing Mingxiu's expression, Kangxi smiled and said, "Of course, I wouldn't dare come here easily if I didn't give my beloved consort a satisfactory answer." With that, he slowly walked into the pavilion and sat down next to Mingxiu.
He then waved his hand, signaling everyone to leave.
"Your Majesty has been making quite a stir in the court lately; I've heard it all from the inner palace," Mingxiu said playfully.
Kangxi rolled his eyes at her: "I don't know who caused me such a shock. It's only because I'm still young and strong that I can withstand it. If it were someone else, I'm afraid they wouldn't be able to."
Mingxiu couldn't help but smile: "Then Your Majesty can't blame me. I didn't do this. Your Majesty has the wrong person."
Kangxi couldn't help but laugh when he saw Mingxiu's smiling face.
Holding Mingxiu's hand, he squeezed and played with it, feeling a great comfort in her fair and tender little hand.
After a long pause, he finally spoke, "Let's find some time to go in and sign the papers."
Mingxiu was taken aback. Although she had a rough idea of why Kangxi had come today, she was still shocked.
"Your Majesty, have you made up your mind?" Mingxiu asked quietly.
Kangxi looked up at Mingxiu and said, "I am not someone who is so reluctant to part with beautiful women. I was just considering many things before. Besides, isn't it good to have someone you truly love by your side all the time?"
Mingxiu's eyes stung slightly. She tilted her head back and smiled. Her smile was like clouds suddenly parting in the sky, making people feel bright and cheerful.
"Alright, let's find a time to sign it then, but Your Majesty mustn't regret it later."
Kangxi stared intently at Mingxiu: "I will never regret it."
Just as Kangxi declared he would never regret it, the two signed the contract within the space.
The moment the contract was signed, the two felt a vibration in the space, and Kangxi quickly hugged Mingxiu in his arms.
The tremors finally stopped after a while. Mingxiu breathed a sigh of relief, got out of Kangxi's arms, and looked around. She saw that the white, empty walls that had always been there had suddenly disappeared.
A large space appeared in front of them, with grasslands, rivers, forests, and houses. Above the space, a string of transparent, golden characters was displayed.
Dear hosts, this is the upgraded trial version of the system space. Congratulations on achieving a double blessing! From now on, you two will live and die together. Now, as long as you obtain enough resources, you can enter the Time and Space Administration Bureau. We hope you will work hard and achieve your goal as soon as possible.
