Mingxiu walked over and greeted him without lingering, simply telling Rongxian that he could come to her carriage and play with Chenghuan when he had time.
Rongxian's main purpose in coming out this time was to see if there was a suitable person. She was of marriageable age, and Emperor Kangxi had already told Consort Rong about the person he had chosen. This trip was for Rongxian to see for herself.
Kangxi told Mingxiu that it was Urgun of the Borjigit clan of the Bairin tribe of Mongolia. Historically, Urgun was a very good person and had always gotten along well with Rongxian, so Kangxi did not intend to change the person in this life.
Consort Rong knew this too. Although she was somewhat reluctant to see her daughter marry so far away, she believed that it was good if her daughter could marry well and live a happy life. No matter how reluctant she was, she would not stop her.
Then Mingxiu went into Kangxi's carriage, and just as she entered, she saw Kangxi washing his hands and eating.
When Kangxi saw Mingxiu coming alone, he raised an eyebrow. Seeing that there was no one behind her, he understood: "What, you've decided to come? Didn't you say before that you were worried Chenghuan wouldn't be able to adapt to being alone?"
Mingxiu pouted, sat down next to Kangxi, and unceremoniously picked up the fruit and started eating: "Your Majesty, I was overthinking it. She is not uncomfortable at all, in fact, she is quite used to it. I think she is quite comfortable in the carriage."
Seeing the carriage bouncing and jumping around, Mingxiu felt sorry for it.
Kangxi found it somewhat amusing and had Mingxiu sit next to him. Just then, the imperial kitchen staff came to deliver lunch, so Mingxiu ate lunch with Kangxi. When it was time to set off in the afternoon, she didn't return to her own carriage but stayed in Kangxi's carriage instead.
Just like Kangxi, she wasn't afraid at all inside, so Mingxiu could easily take something out of the space to eat or go to the toilet from time to time.
Kangxi looked at Mingxiu coming and going frequently with some helplessness, but in fact he was the same. With someone covering for him, it was very convenient for him to take a bath and eat in the space.
Kangxi would naturally not refuse to enjoy it.
Therefore, apart from Kangxi discussing matters with his ministers in the carriage, Mingxiu spent most of the journey in Kangxi's carriage.
The group traveled for more than a month before finally reaching the grasslands.
This time, they went directly to the territory of the Bairin tribe of Mongolia. When they arrived, the Jasak Doroi Prince Ochir had already packed his things and was waiting for them.
Everyone began to set up camp. Mingxiu took Chenghuan to see her tent, while Kangxi took his sons to see Prince Eqir, the Jasak Dorok.
Urgun was the second son of Zasag Doroi Prince Ochir, the grandson of Princess Guren Shuhui, and the great-grandson of Huang Taiji, maintaining close ties with the Qing Dynasty. It seems we'll finally get to see Urgun this time.
Mingxiu wasn't interested, so she took Chenghuan for a walk around the neighborhood. They had just arrived, and everyone was busy, so it was a bit chaotic. Mingxiu didn't dare to go too far, just wandered around the neighborhood, but even that was nice.
They came out at a perfect time; the ground was covered with grass and wildflowers, stretching as far as the eye could see, which made one feel open and expansive.
Cheng Huan let loose and played around, taking Ming Xiu everywhere to pick flowers.
These flowers are all wildflowers, certainly different from the carefully cultivated ones in the palace, but they have their own unique charm, and Chenghuan likes them very much.
After the tent was set up, Chenghuan had already picked a large bunch of flowers. Mingxiu led Chenghuan to sit on the blanket that Yulan had brought out, took out the willow branches they had just picked, and quickly wove a wreath with the small flowers that Chenghuan had picked.
Chenghuan was running around picking flowers and playing, but after seeing the flower wreath that Mingxiu made, she stayed by her side and refused to leave. After it was finished, Mingxiu put the flower wreath on Chenghuan's head.
Cheng Huan carefully wore the flower wreath, feeling that her hands and feet were restricted. Her big eyes kept looking up, and she even asked Yu Qing to bring out a small mirror. The small mirror couldn't show her whole face, so she kept changing her posture to look at herself in the mirror.
Overjoyed, Cheng Huan asked Ming Xiu, "Mother, Mother, do I look good? Do I look good?"
Seeing Cheng Huan's happy expression, Ming Xiu smiled as well, saying, "You look beautiful, you're the most beautiful."
Cheng Huan was overjoyed and pulled Yu Qing and Yu Lan aside to ask them if she was pretty, receiving affirmative answers from both of them.
He was even happier and continued picking flowers, saying that he wanted his mother to wear a flower wreath on her head as well.
Mingxiu stood to the side watching Chenghuan make a fuss, and she laughed happily herself.
When everyone returned, not only Mingxiu had a flower wreath on her head, but Yuqing and Yulan also had flower wreaths on their heads.
And so, the two of them were each holding a large bouquet of flowers.
There was no way around it, we just picked too many.
I can only bring it back so that it can be put into a vase.
When Mingxiu came in, she had just seen Kangxi sitting inside reading a book. When she saw the group return, she frowned and said, "Why were you gone for so long?"
"I accidentally played for too long. Look how pretty my flower crown is!" Mingxiu asked, holding up the flower crown on her head.
Chenghuan asked happily from the side. Kangxi looked at the mother and daughter who looked exactly alike, and praised them helplessly. Then Chenghuan went downstairs. She still wanted to put her flowers in the vase.
Mingxiu chuckled and placed her flowers in the vase. Then she took off the flower wreath from her head, glanced at Kangxi sitting on the couch, and mischievously put the wreath on Kangxi's head.
