Chapter 349 Narrative of Changchun Garden

After dinner, they strolled around the school again, but Mingxiu was still not satisfied. So she simply dragged everyone outside for another walk, and only after having dinner did they return to the palace satisfied.

Over the next few days, Mingxiu would stroll around the palace with Kangxi, take care of Chenghuan, and help the Guarjia clan with their New Year celebrations.

Although Mingxiu had entrusted everything to her before, this was, after all, the first New Year since Guarjia became Empress, so she still needed to be extra careful.

"Don't be too nervous. You're already quite skilled at these things. Besides, there aren't many people in the harem this year. Just have the court ladies pay their respects to you properly. The Emperor Emeritus and I won't be attending," Mingxiu comforted Guarjia, who was flipping through the documents.

"Yes, Your Majesty, please rest assured, I am just a little nervous." Guarjia nodded. When the court officials came to offer their advice this year, the Emperor Emeritus would definitely not attend, otherwise, who would the two emperors make them pay homage to?

After comforting Lady Guarjia, Mingxiu planned to visit Changchun Garden before the New Year. Since Consort Hui and Consort Rong had not yet met Emperor Kangxi upon their return, it would be good for them to make an appearance. Otherwise, it would be bad if the other concubines thought that the Emperor had forgotten them.

After tidying up, the two headed straight for Changchun Garden.

"Sister Huifei, Sister Huifei!" After arriving at Changchun Garden, Mingxiu immediately abandoned Kangxi and went straight to Huifei's palace.

Hearing the sound, Consort Hui hurriedly came out from inside. "Oh my, you're finally back! If you hadn't come back soon, I was afraid I would have forgotten about you." Consort Hui held Mingxiu's hand with a face full of joy.

“Hehe, we came back quite early. It’s almost Chinese New Year, so we were thinking of spending the New Year in the palace before coming back to Changchun Garden. But I missed you all so much, so I took this opportunity to come and see you. The Emperor Emeritus has also arrived and is resting in the Jiujing Sanshi Hall now,” Mingxiu said with a smile.

"It's good that he's back, it's good that he's back. Who cares about him? Let the Emperor Emeritus rest well over there. Let's have a good chat, sisters. How was your trip?" Consort Hui asked excitedly, holding Mingxiu's hand. She also told someone to quickly inform Consort Rong and Xiao Hesheli to come over.

Mingxiu let Consort Hui lead her inside and began to tell her about the journey.

In fact, Yinzhi was with them regarding what happened along the way. Even if Yinzhi hadn't said anything, Lady Yierjueluo would definitely have told Consort Hui and the others. However, what they said was quite different from what Mingxiu told them herself.

A short while later, Consort Rong and Lady Hesheli entered gracefully from outside.

"Oh dear, Consort Rong and younger sister, come in quickly, come in quickly." Mingxiu saw the two of them coming and hurriedly invited them in, completely forgetting that they were in Consort Hui's palace. "I've missed you both so much for so long."

"You heartless little thing, you've been thinking about us for so long, and you haven't even sent us a message." Consort Rong sat down next to Mingxiu and spoke directly.

"Oh dear, it's just that communication isn't very convenient. Besides, I've sent you so many gifts, haven't I? I personally picked out these gifts for you every time I passed through a place, just so you could see the scenery of other places." Mingxiu said coquettishly, holding Rongfei's hand.

The summers at Changchun Garden are cooler than those at the Imperial Palace, but the winters are also colder. Although it was springtime when Mingxiu and the others arrived, it didn't feel particularly warm.

Fortunately, there were relatively few people in Changchun Garden, so it was quite comfortable. Mingxiu usually dressed up however she felt comfortable, wearing modern clothes directly. Although they looked a bit out of place, they were indeed very comfortable.

On this sunny day, Mingxiu, dressed in a warm yellow spring outfit and wrapped in a fluffy white vest, with her hair simply tied up with a hairpin, leaned leisurely against a chair, basking in the sun, wearing an eye mask. She held a fishing line in her hand so that she could hear any movement below.

Beside him was Kangxi, dressed in a black robe with dark gold patterns, also draped in a black blanket and wearing an eye mask. The only difference between Kangxi and Mingxiu was that Mingxiu had an umbrella behind her to protect herself from the strong ultraviolet rays, while Kangxi did not.

The two of them leaned back in their chairs in the same pose, with palace servants carefully watching over them as they basked in the sun. Their lives were incredibly peaceful.

After an unknown amount of time, the rope in Mingxiu's hand trembled. Mingxiu quickly took off the blindfold from her face, looked excitedly at the fishing rod in her hand, and gently lifted the fishing rod, feeling the water splashing.

"Hahaha, I told you I was the best!" Mingxiu said provocatively to Kangxi, who was also staring at her from a distance.

The two of them were having a very leisurely time, and fishing was their hobby. Originally, Mingxiu didn't like fishing. She thought it was better to do something else than just sit and fish. But when luck is on your side, you can't stop it. On her first fishing trip, Mingxiu caught a huge fish, and from then on, she was completely hooked on fishing.

Whenever Mingxiu had nothing to do, she would go fishing with Kangxi by the river to see who could catch a fish first. Mingxiu always won, which made her incredibly confident.

Kangxi stood up and walked to Mingxiu's side to help her catch the fish. When he saw that the fish weighed about three or four pounds, Kangxi was puzzled and couldn't understand why he couldn't catch as many fish as Mingxiu.
