Chapter 420 Modern Side Story Twelve

"Yeah, it feels like it hasn't even ended yet, and it's already over. I'm not happy," Zheng Shuang said.

"Alright, it's fine if we can have a get-together when we have time. What are you all planning to do after that?" Mingxiu asked, taking a sip of milk.

"Yes, I'm going back to my hometown. You all know my situation. My grandparents are getting old, and I want to spend more time with them. Then, like you said, I'll open a folk-style guesthouse or a farm stay, and everyone can come and have fun, it'll be free," Zheng Shuang said with a smile.

Everyone nodded with smiles.

"I'm pretty much the same. I want to go back to my hometown. My parents want me to stay with them, and it would be nice for me to become a journalist or a civil servant or something," Lin Weiwei said.

Mingxiu and the others felt a chill. This made it sound like passing the civil service exam was easy. Mingxiu and the others didn't have the ability to do it, but Lin Weiwei could definitely give it a try because she was the best student among them and in the whole school, basically ranking first every year.

“I’m still staying in the capital. My parents want me to go back home to inherit the family business, but I don’t really want to, so we’re at a stalemate. We’ll see when the time comes. Anyway, my brother already owns the company. I’m young now, so I should enjoy myself,” Sun Xue said happily.

"Me too. I've already found a job at a TV station. You might see me on TV or in some of my videos then," Wu Qianqian said with a grin.

"Congratulations! That's amazing! You've found the right person!" Everyone quickly offered their congratulations.

"So, Mingxiu, what are you planning to do?" Wu Qianqian asked Mingxiu.

Mingxiu smiled when she saw the way everyone was looking at her. "Me? It's very simple. You all know I've been writing novels, right? It'll be the same after that. I'll just play around with it. If I want to open a coffee shop someday, I'll open one. If I don't want to come anymore, I'll just enjoy life." Mingxiu tossed her hands.

"Ah, I'm so envious. If I had to say who I envy the most here, it would be you. You're rich and talented. You earned so much money during your university years through your own abilities, and now you've married a wonderful husband. It's truly enviable," Lin Weiwei said.

Mingxiu smiled; indeed, her life was really good.

"Oh right, Mingxiu, I didn't remember before, but I suddenly remembered a couple of days ago. Your husband looks familiar. Didn't he act in a TV series before?" Sun Xue said. This girl was a big fan of celebrities, and her favorite things were following celebrities and watching TV.

Mingxiu raised an eyebrow, surprised that someone actually recognized him. She readily admitted, "Then it must be him. He studied acting in college. His teacher had him play a role when he was in school. I didn't expect you to recognize him."

Sun Xue was shocked: "It really is! It just looked familiar, I didn't expect it to be true."

There was nothing wrong with admitting it, so Mingxiu spoke frankly and openly.

"Alright, alright, let's not talk about this anymore. The next time we all meet up when we get back is when we take graduation photos, so let's take a picture together as a memento of our university life," Zheng Shuang said, clapping her hands.

Everyone cheered and started taking pictures.

Then we went out shopping again that night and bought a lot of things. The next day, everyone packed their things and headed straight to the airport.

Upon arriving at the airport, everyone went their separate ways. Mingxiu dragged her luggage back to Hengdian. There were no direct flights to Hengdian, so Mingxiu had to transfer. Fortunately, she was going the same way as Sun Xue, so Mingxiu could transfer in the capital. Thus, the two set off together.

In first class, the five girls slept together and chatted all night. If Kangxi hadn't called Mingxiu today, she wouldn't have gotten up. Luckily she did, otherwise they would have been late.

But they were so tired that they started to catch up on sleep as soon as they got upstairs. Mingxiu and Sun Xue put on eye masks and face masks, tilted their heads, and fell asleep immediately.

Around noon, the two of them woke up groggily to the commotion next to them.

"What's wrong? Why is it so noisy?" Sun Xue asked groggily. Because she had just woken up, her sweet and soft voice was still a little hoarse, which sounded a bit tingly. Mingxiu didn't feel anything, but a man sitting not far from them was surprised to hear it. He looked up for a moment, then lowered his head to continue dealing with his business.

The series of actions happened in an instant, so no one except the person involved could react at all.

Mingxiu turned her head to look, but couldn't figure it out. Judging from the sound, it must be someone's child crying and disturbing the other passengers, which is why they started arguing.

"Nothing's wrong, would you like some water?" Mingxiu asked Sun Xue, holding up two bottles of water.

Sun Xue nodded, stretched, revealing half of her snow-white belly, took the water from Mingxiu's hand, and drank it.

They arrived shortly after. Mingxiu and Sun Xue got off the plane. Mingxiu had to transfer, so she stayed behind. After saying goodbye to Sun Xue, she watched Sun Xue walk away and headed to the transfer area.

Neither of them noticed the person following behind Sun Xue.

When Mingxiu returned to Hengdian, it was already May. The weather in May was sunny and the scenery was beautiful everywhere. When Mingxiu came out, she saw Kangxi standing outside waiting for her.

"Honey, I'm back! When did you start waiting here?" Mingxiu pushed her suitcase aside and jumped into Kangxi's arms, a pose she had just learned.

Kangxi was surprised by Mingxiu's enthusiastic gesture. He smiled happily, picked up Mingxiu, put her suitcase in the car, and then put her in the car.

Back in the courtyard, looking at the familiar surroundings, Mingxiu excitedly spun around, then hugged Kangxi and said coquettishly, "Did you miss me while I was away? I missed you so much."

Kangxi looked down at the coquettish Mingxiu and curled his lips: "If you missed me, why didn't you come back sooner? I think you only said you missed me, but you didn't really miss me at all."

Mingxiu shook her head repeatedly: "What? I really miss you, but there are other people traveling with me. If there were no one else, I would have come back long ago."

Kangxi chuckled, "Alright, since you miss me, don't go out during this time. Stay home and keep me company, okay?"

Mingxiu nodded. She wouldn't go out even if she was told to. Going out to play was too tiring, and she needed to rest for a while.
