Chapter 425 Modern Side Story Seventeen

The next day, Mingxiu was awakened by the sunlight and sat up groggily. Looking at the sky outside, she got up to prepare her things.

Lu Cheng is a director whose favorite thing to do after filming is to browse short videos, watch funny clips, and occasionally get some inspiration from them. The short videos are getting more and more popular, and each one is very unique. Today was no exception. He had been filming for several days in a row, and today he finally had a break, so he stayed in the hotel for a while. When he realized what was happening, he was already very hungry.

But thinking about the food at the hotel and looking at his clothes, he gritted his teeth and went out to find something to eat. He was already tired of the food at the hotel; it was always the same few dishes, and he really didn't want to eat them anymore.

Once outside and feeling the sweltering heat, Lu Cheng felt a pang of regret. The hotel was actually quite nice, at least it wasn't hot. But now that he was out, going back would be a hassle. Lu Cheng glanced at the scenery ahead, gritted his teeth, and continued walking.

After walking for ten minutes, his regret grew stronger, but he hadn't reached the residential building yet, where there were many restaurants. He couldn't bear to go back now, so he could only grit his teeth and keep going. After walking for twenty minutes, Lu Cheng saw a very nice house in front of him with its door open, clearly a business.

Lu Cheng was delighted and quickly walked over, only to find that it looked like a coffee shop, but there was no one inside. However, he could understand why there was no one there; it was already noon, and everyone was having lunch, so who would go for afternoon tea?

But he really didn't want to move anymore, and thought that having some dessert would be nice, so he gritted his teeth and went straight in.

With a creak, a blast of cool air rushed out as the door opened, and Lu Cheng let out a comfortable sigh.

Then he smelled a rich aroma, and Lu Cheng's already hungry stomach started growling.

Mingxiu ate lunch a little late because she was preparing things. She was cooking in the kitchen when she suddenly heard someone coming in from the front.

She quickly went outside to take a look and saw a rather unkempt man standing at the doorway. Mingxiu was momentarily stunned. A guest had arrived, but this was far too early! Her cake wasn't even ready yet. Who would be so kind as to come and eat at midday?

Mingxiu said with a hint of helplessness, "Hello, please have a seat. Are you here for coffee? I'm sorry, our desserts aren't ready yet, so you might have to wait a while."

Lu Cheng was stunned for a moment when a slender girl with bright eyebrows and white teeth suddenly walked out and spoke with a smile. He quickly came to his senses and was about to say something when he heard his stomach rumble a few times. His face stiffened.

She looked at Mingxiu somewhat embarrassed, and Mingxiu, who had also heard this, couldn't help but chuckle.

"Well, I'm cooking right now. If you don't mind, why don't you join me? I've made quite a lot. You're my first guest, so I can't let you go out hungry."

Lu Cheng wanted to refuse, since it was clearly a coffee shop and they certainly didn't serve meals. But the smell made it impossible for him to say no. After a long while, he could only nod helplessly and say, "I'm really sorry to bother you, but I'm really hungry right now."

Mingxiu smiled and shook her head: "It's okay, it must be hot outside. You sit here and rest for a bit. I'll get you a glass of water. The food will be ready soon." Mingxiu said nonchalantly. She had indeed cooked quite a lot for lunch today. The main problem was that she always felt like she didn't have enough to eat when she cooked, but after cooking, she felt like she had made a lot.

After finishing her conversation with him, Mingxiu quickly went to the kitchen to bring out her dishes. Seeing that there wasn't much rice, Mingxiu decisively scooped out a large bowl and then put the rest into a small bowl.

The reason she ate a little late today was partly because she had to make some pastries, and partly because she had her eye on this boneless chicken. She had seen it on a video and was really craving it, so she made it. In addition to this, there was also stir-fried lettuce, dry pot shrimp, and candied sweet potatoes, making a total of four dishes. Mingxiu likes a variety of dishes when she eats, so she made a lot for lunch today. Originally, she planned to eat it directly in the evening if there were any leftovers, or put it in her space to eat when Kangxi came in. Unexpectedly, someone came suddenly today, so she couldn't leave any for Kangxi.

The food was already prepared, so it will be served quickly.

Everything else was fine as it was, but the boneless chicken was a bit of a hassle. Mingxiu carefully cut the boneless chicken in half, then removed the head and tail. After finishing, Mingxiu breathed a sigh of relief. The boneless chicken was so tender that she was afraid it would fall apart if she wasn't careful.

"This is dry pot shrimp, boneless chicken, and stir-fried asparagus. I don't know if you'll like candied sweet potatoes, as they're all made to my liking. You can try them," Mingxiu said, placing the dishes on the table.

Lu Cheng felt a little embarrassed looking at the four sumptuous dishes on the table, but at the same time he was attracted by the aroma. It smelled so good! He could only say thank you with a forced smile, and after Mingxiu left, he quickly picked up his rice and started eating.

The first thing they ate was this boneless chicken, and the aroma alone was enough to make him swoon. It was so delicious! The food was great, and Lu Cheng was really hungry, so he ate it incredibly fast.
