Chapter 427 Modern Side Story 19

"Alright then, that's all we can do for now. Go back and find someone as soon as possible."

While the two were talking, Mingxiu had already prepared the meal and brought it up. Each of the three of them had a large bowl of noodles with soybean paste, along with some pickled garlic. Mingxiu didn't eat it, but she could give it to them. She had made it herself, but she didn't really like it, and neither did Kangxi, so it had been sitting there. Now it was a good opportunity for them to try it and help them digest some of it.

"Please try it, you two. After all, I'm not a professional chef, so it can only be described as having a home-style flavor," Mingxiu said, holding a pot of watermelon juice and a plate of fruit as she watched the two eating.

"Oh, young boss, you're too kind. Your cooking skills are really good! This fried sauce is delicious, and the pickled garlic is really good too. Can you sell it separately? I'm willing to pay a high price for it," Zhang Dongsheng said. The pickled garlic was sweet and sour with a hint of spiciness, which was really appetizing.

Lu Cheng nodded readily, his mouth full of noodles.

"If you two like it, you can take some with you later. I made a lot before, but we didn't really like it after it was made. I was just wondering how to use it up." Of course, Mingxiu was half telling the truth and half being polite. If she really wanted to use it up, she naturally had plenty of ways. Grandpa Zhuang next door liked it very much. Mingxiu had even given him a jar before, but because he was old, he couldn't eat these things, so Mingxiu hadn't given him any more since.

“We like it, we like it. Then we’ll trouble the boss to prepare some for us. We’ll pay for it ourselves,” Lu Cheng said.

Mingxiu smiled and nodded, then went to the table next to her to eat her meal.

"It's delicious! Ah, I feel much better now, and I have more motivation to work," Zhang Dongsheng said after downing a glass of watermelon juice without stopping.

"Yes, let's go back and have a meeting to start preparing, so we don't delay and things don't get complicated," Lu Cheng said.

After finishing her meal, Mingxiu took out a jar of pickled garlic from her spatial storage. The jar wasn't big, but it wasn't small either; it would last the two of them a long time. "This is pickled garlic," she said. "When you take it back to eat, remember to seal it tightly when you open it, otherwise it will easily get air in and spoil."

"Okay, by the way, little boss, do you sell fruit? I think your fruit is much better than what you sell for delivery. Can we buy some to take home?" Lu Cheng said.

"Sure, what kind of fruit do you want? I'll get you some," Mingxiu said nonchalantly.

"I want four watermelons, and ten catties each of yesterday's strawberries and grapes, and also some of yesterday's pastries."

Mingxiu nodded and went to prepare the food for them.

These things are all easy to prepare; they're all ready-made and can be packed directly.

After the two drove away, Mingxiu looked at the five-figure sum on her phone and smiled happily. These two were really generous, giving so much.

Mingxiu was in a good mood after making a lot of money today, so she decided not to open for business. She simply closed the door and went inside to watch TV.

No need to earn money today!

When Kangxi came in, he saw Mingxiu sprawled out on the sofa.

"Why did you come in? Aren't you busy today?" Mingxiu quickly got up when she saw Kangxi come in and pulled him to sit on the sofa.

Although the two of them could be in the space at any time, Kangxi was too busy to come in, and even when he did come in, he would only stay for a short while before leaving. So, the two of them hadn't seen each other for several days.

Kangxi sighed, "It's alright now. It was too hot outside, so everyone went back to rest, and I came straight in."

Mingxiu nodded, touching Kangxi's rougher face with some heartache: "You've really had a tough time these past few days. When are you coming back? I need to make sure you get some nourishment. Look how much weight you've lost." As she spoke, Mingxiu even patted Kangxi's abs.

Kangxi grabbed Mingxiu's restless hand: "Behave yourself, don't touch me like that."

Mingxiu chuckled.

She simply didn't want to honestly recount what had happened in the past two days through Kangxi and Mingxiu, especially the male lead in Lu Cheng's drama crew.

"You'd better watch out. If someone like that appears in your crew, all your work will be for nothing."

Kangxi nodded. Of course, he knew about such a big matter. He himself didn't look at his phone much, but since everyone was in the same industry, they would all pay attention, so naturally Kangxi knew about it. But he didn't expect that Mingxiu actually knew the two of them.

After talking for a while, Kangxi hurriedly left. Someone might come looking for him at any time, so he couldn't stay in the space for too long. Mingxiu quickly prepared some fruit for Kangxi so he could eat slowly.

Time passed slowly, and Mingxiu felt like she was about to lose her job before her coffee shop even opened, because she had started to let loose these past few days, closing the shop frequently, so no one came.

By the time Mingxiu finally managed to recover from her fun and reopen the business, it was already September, and the weather wasn't very hot anymore.

Emperor Kangxi returned from outside, so Mingxiu started to maintain a regular schedule, because she needed to nourish Emperor Kangxi's body.

Kangxi wanted to truly learn the skills, so he had to keep an eye on everything in the production crew. In addition, he had other things to do, so he was constantly busy and had lost a lot of weight. His already slim body had become even thinner, which made Mingxiu feel very sorry for him. Before, when they were out, Mingxiu wanted to help him regain his strength, but it wasn't convenient because there were other people around. Now that he was back, she naturally wanted to help him recover properly.

"Look at you, why are you working so hard? You've become so thin." Mingxiu looked at Kangxi with heartache.

"Alright, don't be sad. You can slowly fatten me up. Didn't you say before that you would feel most accomplished if you fattened me up?" Kangxi coaxed, gently touching Mingxiu's face.

Mingxiu was angered by Kangxi's words and rolled her eyes thoroughly.

Although they could meet before, it was relatively infrequent. Now that Kangxi is back, Mingxiucai seems to be in a much better mood, so the shop has been open for a while longer.

Lu Cheng and Zhang Dongsheng arrived at this time.

"Hello boss, it hasn't been easy, but I'm so glad to finally see you open for business," Zhang Dongsheng exclaimed.

Mingxiu smiled a little embarrassedly: "We had some things to take care of at home before, so we couldn't open for business. It seems you two are finally free and have time to come over."
