Chapter 47 Spicy

When she went in, she was first hit by the spiciness, and then she saw a little girl standing in the crowd. She was standing with her hands on her hips, her round body swaying cutely. She was talking to people while keeping an eye on the pot over there. She was really busy and having a great time.

The maids she was ordering around all had smiles on their faces.

There were maids washing vegetables, and people carrying ingredients back and forth...

Meanwhile, the chef in the kitchen, whom Hesheli was very familiar with, was wielding his spatula with great enthusiasm. He grinned and moved closer to Jingrou, eager to get more pointers from her.

The young lady was naturally the most pampered person in the manor.

Those who work in the kitchen are, of course, people you can't afford to offend.

However, when this little darling came over, the chef didn't expect her to come up with anything good.

They were even terrified that something strange might happen and harm their masters—after all, the young lady was just a child of a few years old, what could they expect from her?

What I'm afraid of is just kids messing around.

I just hope she can become a little more sensible...

If anything happens, the masters certainly won't blame the young lady, but they, the group of people, won't be so lucky.

But the more seasonings he added to the pot, the brighter his eyes became.

He's been wielding a spatula for decades; what kind of food doesn't he know how to cook? Even the dishes from those barbarian lands, he'd only seen in books, and had even considered trying them out himself.

But what the waitress is making now, which she calls "hot pot," is something I've never seen before!

Not to mention the fresh, fragrant, spicy, and stimulating flavor, even he, who has been immersed in the kitchen for so many years, found it hard to resist!

You must memorize this recipe carefully; this is a great opportunity to learn from the young lady!

Thinking this way, the chefs in the kitchen became even more enthusiastic and would even ask Jingrou if the amount she added was correct.

Speaking of the amount of ingredients, Jingrou had a lot of trouble, because the recipe she was given was based on grams.

But in ancient times, weights and measures were always used.

If you tell the kitchen how many grams it contains, they definitely won't know!

So she had to quietly convert the grams to the corresponding kilograms.

This was no easy task. The prescription couldn't be seen by anyone else, so she had to secretly calculate the correct dosage over a long period of time.

But let's not dwell on those troubles. As long as I can finally enjoy the hot pot I've been craving, it's all worth it.

Jingrou smelled the increasingly rich fragrance in the air and smiled contentedly. Her eyes narrowed slightly, like a kitten that had stolen some food, revealing her tiny, millet-like teeth—she was incredibly cute.

Hesheli couldn't help but chuckle, but after watching for a while, her gaze softened.

How wonderful it is for her to be so lively and adorable now, unlike a few years ago when she lay sickly in bed, her little face pale, which made Hesheli's heart ache.

Let her do whatever she wants. As long as she's healthy, it's a good thing she can still be active!

However, she also began to look forward to the delicious food that Jingrou would make.

People gathered around the dinner table very early tonight.

Whether they had just returned from outside or had stayed in the mansion without going out, they all heard that Jingrou had prepared fresh things for them.

The freshness of this dish is evident from the somewhat peculiar table, with people continuously adding charcoal to it from below.

Worried that Jingrou would be under a lot of pressure, the group of them didn't crowd into the kitchen, but patiently stayed inside the house.

"Father, why hasn't my sister come yet..." Just thinking about that smell makes my mouth water.

"What's the point of just waiting here? Don't you even know how to help your sister? All you do all day is eat?"

Immediately, several of the younger ones couldn't contain themselves and led the group straight to the kitchen.

"Father (Mother), I'll go see if my sister needs any help!"

The group disappeared in a flash.

On the way to the kitchen, I finally met Jingrou, followed by a large group of people.

A layer of red oil floats on top of the copper pot, enough to deter those with mild palates. But when the charcoal fire starts burning, steam rises and the aroma spreads.

After hearing Jingrou's introduction, Prince An couldn't wait to add the food to the copper pot. In a short while, the food was cooked. When he took his first bite and was still savoring it, he discovered that the other things he had put in had been taken away by the bandits.

This meal was truly a chaotic affair.

Even many years later, this hot pot meal remains a vivid memory for everyone at the table.

The spicy flavor and the atmosphere of a family sitting together are incomparable to anything else.

"This stuff is good, I can try it often in the future." So Prince An was the most enthusiastic advocate of this stuff. He straightened up with satisfaction and found that his belly had bulged out.

If I eat like this every ten days, plus my usual meals... wouldn't that be eating spicy food every meal?

He secretly glanced at Hesheli.

I never imagined that at his age, he would still be forced by his family to eat spicy food!

Jingrou ate with great relish. Normally, Hesheli would not want her to eat this kind of thing, but this was something she had worked hard to prepare all day, and wasn't it all so that she could eat a few more bites? Looking into her pleading eyes, Hesheli couldn't bring herself to refuse.

Never mind, let her drink two bowls of nourishing soup after she finishes eating, so that her stomach won't be upset later.

Qi Jia was considered to have a relatively light diet among the family members, so she had never tasted such a spicy flavor before. However, when she thought that it was her younger sister who had invented it, and that it tasted so good, she was very happy.

Even though she had already drunk several bowls of delicious herbal tea, Qi Jia persisted, and her face soon turned bright red.

Jingrou chuckled when she saw his expression. Was this really her usually dignified and gentlemanly older brother?
