She was just a operative and had no real feelings for Huang Taiji. She always felt uncomfortable whenever she was alone with him.
She only breathed a sigh of relief after Huang Taiji had really gone far away.
Then her stomach started growling, so she quickly washed up and went to the main hall to see what food was available.
"Master, you're up already?" A pretty and adorable girl dressed in pink ran in from outside. "Why didn't you call me to serve you?"
“I’m not disabled, why do I need to be waited on?” Hailanzhu blurted out, then realized it was inappropriate.
The palace maid, unsure how to respond, could only change the subject, saying, "Your Highness must be hungry. This servant will go and prepare a meal."
"Yes! Go quickly!" Hailanzhu replied with a smile.
A moment later, a palace maid brought in food.
Hailanzhu was taken aback when she saw the food on the table, which consisted of delicacies such as bird's nest, Buddha Jumps Over the Wall, and shark fin.
"Even breakfast has to be this extravagant?" she asked, puzzled.
The palace maid replied with a smile, "Your Highness is the Emperor's most favored concubine, so naturally you eat and use the best."
"Is it the same in other palaces?" she continued to ask.
"No, this was specially prepared by His Majesty for Your Highness," the palace maid replied.
"Is the Empress also one?"
The palace maid shook her head. "Her Majesty the Empress is always frugal. For breakfast, she only instructs the Imperial Kitchen to cook some porridge and a small dish of side dishes."
Upon hearing this, Hailanzhu sighed helplessly. Putting aside everything else, just this breakfast alone would probably make her a thorn in the side of the six palaces!
