Chapter 91 Slingshot

The two walked to Yanxi Palace, chatting and laughing. Consort Hui in Yanxi Palace had been waiting for the arrival of her child, Baoqing.

However, seeing the child dressed in yellow, they knew that the Crown Prince had also arrived. When the two walked up to Consort Hui, Consort Hui bowed to the Crown Prince first and said, "Greetings, Your Highness."

Bao Cheng said, "No need for formalities."

When Bao Cheng saw Consort Hui, he also greeted her. Consort Hui was a concubine and his stepmother, so he only needed to perform the courtesy due to a junior.

"I have met Consort Hui."

Consort Hui dared not accept the Crown Prince's greeting, so she turned aside to avoid it.

Consort Hui: "The Crown Prince came to Yanxi Palace with Baoqing. Is there something you need?"

Before the Crown Prince could reply, Baoqing immediately said, "Mother, it was my son who brought my younger brother to Yanxi Palace. You don't know, my brother has never even touched a bow and arrow before, so I thought I'd bring him to see my toys."

"And I promised my brother I would teach him archery."

Speaking of this, Baoqing was particularly proud and unconsciously listened to his small frame.

However, Consort Hui had a more comprehensive understanding. She knew all too well that in the Emperor's eyes, the Crown Prince was far more important than any of them.

He was raised by his own father, so if nothing happens between the two of them, that's fine. But if something does happen, the emperor will definitely blame his son.

Don't ask Consort Hui how she knew that Emperor Kangxi would blame her son; it was simply because she had always seen how much Emperor Kangxi doted on Bao Cheng.

Although nothing is absolute, what if the two of them bumped into each other while shooting arrows? Kangxi would definitely blame them.

So Consort Hui hesitated for a moment before saying, "I didn't know you just arrived at Yanxi Palace today. Aren't you tired?"

Then she continued, "How about this? It's already quite late today. How about you teach His Highness the Crown Prince archery tomorrow or another time when you have more time?"

When Bao Cheng first heard what Consort Hui said, he was a little disappointed, but he was afraid of tiring his brother, so he was about to say that he would do it another day. However, before he could finish speaking, Bao Qing started to speak.

Baoqing said, "Mother, I'm sorry. I already promised my brother. How can I go back on my word? Besides, I'm not tired at all."

After saying that, he grabbed Bao Cheng's hand and led him into the side hall. "Come on, little brother, let me show you my good things."

When Consort Hui saw that her son was unwilling, he couldn't bear to refuse his child. He didn't say anything more, he just told the servants to follow him around as much as possible to prevent the Crown Prince from getting hurt.

Consort Hui looked at the servants in front of her, who were not moving, and thought to herself, "How can they have no sense of propriety at all?" "What are you still looking at? Hurry up and follow His Highness the Crown Prince. If they bump into something or get hurt, can you take responsibility?"

Only then did the servants suddenly move.

Consort Hui followed them into the side hall.

After Baoqing led Baocheng to the side hall, he introduced Baocheng to his toys, including the wooden horse he had ridden, his slingshot, his small bow and arrow, and the football he played with. There were all sorts of toys.

Bao Cheng looked on with envy; he hadn't played with many of these toys, and there were still many he didn't own.

The Emperor said that one should not indulge in frivolous pursuits and should control one's desires, so one can imagine what his life was like.

Baoqing said, "Come on, little brother, now you can see if I'm accurate with my slingshot."

"I'll tell your brother that he's very accurate with a slingshot."

After saying that, he led Bao Cheng out of the side hall and outside.

He first found a flower in the yard outside, and then said to Bao Cheng, "Watch closely, I'm going to hit that flower, I'm sure I'll hit it on the first try."

After saying that, he pulled up his slingshot, and with a "whoosh," the flower was gone... well, that flower was no longer recognizable; it no longer looked like a flower.

Baoqing was always very proud when he saw that he had hit the target. He would puff out his chest, raise his head, and then, unable to see his younger brother, he would lower his head again. "See? I told you I could definitely hit it, wasn't I amazing, brother?"

Bao Cheng was also very supportive, saying, "Brother is so amazing!"

Bao Cheng: "I want to play too."

Baoqing said, "Alright then, I'll teach you." He then handed the marbles and my slingshot to Baocheng.

Baoqing said, “Look, you need to hold the slingshot in your left hand, load the marble in your right hand, pull it up, then squint your left eye and open your right eye, and then align your right eye with the marble, and so on…”

The above is all made up. The author doesn't know if it will hit the target; they just think it should be like this (?_?).

Before he could finish speaking, Bao Cheng had already thrown the marble, but it was clear that he hadn't hit it. In fact, his marble hadn't even reached the flower's spot; he hadn't used enough force (?_?).

Bao Cheng was somewhat frustrated; he hadn't even managed to hit the flower with the marbles.

Upon seeing this scene, Baoqing couldn't help but burst out laughing, "Pfft~~".

He immediately comforted him, saying, "Little brother, you're still young and not strong enough. It's okay if you can't hit him. We'll just get closer."

"Besides, I hadn't even finished speaking when you already called."

After saying that, he pulled Bao Cheng a few steps closer.

Bao Qing said, "If we stand here and shoot, we're sure to hit the target. Besides, I haven't finished speaking yet, so this time you have to listen to me finish."

Bao Cheng realized he had been too hasty and hadn't even heard his brother finish speaking before launching the marble. "This time I'll definitely listen to the whole thing and hit it," he thought.

Baoqing handed him another marble. Just like last time, Baocheng held the slingshot in his left hand and the marble in his right, then pulled the slingshot back up.

Baoqing said, "Close your left eye, and focus your right eye and the marble together. You must use a lot of force, otherwise you won't be able to pull the slingshot open and the marble won't go out. After aiming, you need at least three breaths before you can shoot the marble out."

Okay, it's all made up anyway. (?_?)

"Listen to me, I'll let you go if I say so."

When Bao Cheng "liked" this, Bao Cheng had already set its sights on it.

Seeing that Bao Cheng was almost ready, Bao Qing shouted, "Release!"

With a "whoosh," the marble was launched. This time it hit the flower, but didn't hit the target. However, Bao Cheng was already very happy to have hit the flower, which was much better than the last time. Besides, if he could hit it this time, he would definitely hit it next time.

Bao Cheng exclaimed, "Brother, did you see that? I almost hit it! It almost hit the flower!" Bao Cheng was very happy as he said this. (▽▽)

Bao Qing said, "Hmm, not bad, not bad. Let's try again."

Bao Qing also has Rong Yan's help; after all, his younger brother's ability to hit the target is entirely due to his own teaching.
