"Princess, someone is chasing us!" the woman in blue said to the woman in white as she rode her horse.
"Split up and then meet up again outside the city!" The woman in white, wearing a black raincoat, said to the others.
Soon, they rode off in different directions. Fourteen caught up, but remained unmoved, convinced that the white-clad woman's figure closely resembled that of the other woman.
In the pouring rain, two riders, one in white and one in black, followed closely together. Along the way, people often knelt in the rain, weeping. It was because it hadn't rained for so long, and the people were overjoyed.
The woman in white's horse splashed water everywhere, soaking the people along the way. Fourteen followed closely, shouting as he ran, "Xiniu, I know it's you! Stop!"
The two ran all the way to the city gate. Seeing that the gate was already closed, the woman in white refused to stop. She lashed her whip, striking her prized horse with all her might.
"Stop right now!!" The guards at the city gate shouted to the white-clad father and son who were rushing towards them.
But the woman completely disregarded the guards, forcefully lashing her riding whip at the group trying to stop her. Several guards were struck by the whip and immediately collapsed into the rain. The fourteenth guard behind her shouted with all his might, "Stop her! Close the city gates! Close the city gates!"
But before the guards could react, the woman in white's horse had already galloped out of the city gate. Knowing it was too late, Fourteen immediately spurred his horse and raced out of the city gate.
“That, that looks like the Fourteenth Prince!” the guards exclaimed as they climbed up from the concrete.
"Xi Niu, you can't escape. If I, Shi Si, can't catch you today, I won't go back!" Shi Si shouted as he chased after the retreating figure.
Seeing that they had left the city and the scenery on both sides of the road was becoming increasingly desolate, the woman in white gradually slowed down until both of them stopped their horses. The rain had just stopped, and the heavy rain had washed the dust-covered vegetation back to its lush green state.
"You were running away, so why did you stop running?" Fourteen asked, panting, staring at the figure in front of him.
"Why are you chasing me?" the woman in white asked, her back to Fourteen.
"What are you doing in the capital? I already let you escape from Wutai Mountain, why did you have to come here again?" Fourteen asked.
"I don't know what you're talking about!" The woman in white turned around, revealing Xi Niu's face.
Looking at Xi Niu's appearance, Fourteen said, "It really is you! Who exactly are you? Are you from the White Lotus Sect?"
The woman in white stared at the Fourteenth Prince and said coldly, "I don't know you. I advise you, Fourteenth Prince, to hurry back. Otherwise, your good wife will be in trouble."
Fourteen's eyes narrowed as he stared at Xiniu and asked, "What did you do to Wanyan?"
The woman in white said, "If you don't let me leave, I'm afraid things will get very bad for the Fourteenth Princess."
Fourteen pursed his lips, gripped the whip tightly in one hand, and said, "Your men have all been captured. Do you think you can still escape?"
The woman in white stared at Fourteen in disbelief, then suddenly pulled out a short sword, just over an inch long, from her bosom. She then leaped off her mount and pounced towards Fourteen's face.
Her movement came so suddenly that Fourteen was caught off guard and fell backward, avoiding the white-clad woman's frontal attack.
The woman in white tapped the tree behind Fourteen with both feet, then lunged at Fourteen's back.
Fourteen failed to dodge the white-clad woman's attack and was stabbed in the left shoulder by her short sword.
After Fourteen fell from his horse, the woman in white walked up to him with her sword and said, "If only you weren't Fourteen!"
Fourteen lay on the ground, feeling only intense pain in his left shoulder, but he could still see the longing and regret in Xiniu's eyes.
"Who exactly are you?" Fourteen asked, looking at Xi Niu.
"I am the daughter of Zhu San Taizi, a princess of the Ming Dynasty. It is impossible for me to be with you, the son of a Tartar emperor. Therefore, today I must kill you!" Xiniu suddenly said excitedly.
"Hahaha, what Zhu San Taizi? He was wiped out by Father Emperor long ago. What Crown Prince of the Ming Dynasty? He was just self-proclaimed, wasn't he?" Fourteenth Prince said contemptuously.
"You're talking nonsense. My father was the Crown Prince of the Ming Dynasty. It was you Manchus who invaded and occupied my Ming Dynasty. The doctrine of our White Lotus Sect is to overthrow the Qing and restore the Ming. As the leader of the White Lotus Sect, I must kill you." Xi Niu raised her sword at the Fourteenth Dao lying on the ground.
"Since you are the daughter of some Zhu San Taizi, how come you are also a member of the White Lotus Sect?" Fourteen asked.
"The doctrine of my White Lotus Sect is to expel the Tartars and restore the Ming Dynasty. But you are pressing us at every turn. For my safety, my father sent me to live with a lotus-selling family in Qi County when I was two years old. You will not be able to find anything about that," the woman in white said.
"No wonder Fourth Brother investigated your background but found nothing," Fourteenth Brother said.
“Fourteen, I truly love you, but unfortunately you are the son of the Tartar emperor. I hate you so much, so I want to kill Wanyan.” Xiniu suddenly said.
"Why did you kill her?" Fourteen asked, puzzled.
"Because she possesses something that I, the princess, can never have. Therefore, only by killing her can I feel at peace."
Looking at the face that was gradually contorting in the rain, Fourteen sighed deeply and said, "Such a vicious woman, yet I happen to like her."
"Fourteen, don't blame me!" Xi Nu raised the sword in his hand, already pointing it at Fourteen's chest, ready to strike with certainty.
"Xi Niu, I still don't know your name. Can you tell me your name? Even if you want to kill me, you should at least let me die knowing why," Fourteen said.
Xi Niu hesitated for a moment, then said to him, "My name is Zhu Wanyin."
"Wanyin! What a beautiful name!" Fourteen said, looking at the raindrops falling from the sky.
Zhu Wanyin looked at the handsome man at her feet, her heart filled with turmoil. She knew she loved this man, but they were born enemies and could never be together.
"Why don't you kill me?" Fourteenth noticed Zhu Wanyin's hesitation and stared at her beautiful chin.
“I think I’ve fallen for you. But what can I do? We’re natural enemies, we can never be together,” Zhu Wanyin said.
Fourteen didn't expect Zhu Wanyin to be so frank and direct. He really liked her, but what could he do? They were sworn enemies since birth!
“I will let you go back, but I, the princess, will stay. What I cannot have, no other woman can have either,” Zhu Wanyin said.
