The Fourth Prince walked forward, feeling deeply uncomfortable. One by one, they came seeking official positions, all because of his current status. He didn't want to use his power to place unsuitable people in positions unsuitable for him. It wasn't that he couldn't make appointments, but if it wasn't based on his own will, he wouldn't agree, even if the appointees were his daughters.
Before he knew it, Fourth Master had arrived at the South Courtyard. He looked up and realized he had come to the South Courtyard. He hadn't actually planned to come to see Lanqin today, or even to visit Wuya Shi, but he had ended up here anyway.
"Master?" Granny Wang opened the door and saw the Fourth Master's face, looking at him with a slightly surprised expression. News had already reached Lanqin that the Fourth Master had gone to Lady Nian's place after returning home that day. Therefore, Granny Wang had closed the courtyard gate early.
Fourth Master nodded and walked towards Lanqin's main room. When he reached the door, he saw that the door to Lanqin's main room was open, but he could hear bursts of laughter and voices coming from inside.
Fourth Master stopped and stood quietly outside the house, listening intently to the sounds coming from inside. It was the laughter of Lanqin playing with the children and the sounds of the children playing and making noise.
The untimely death of the Third Prince instilled a fear of death in Ushiha and Bechuk. It took Lanqin a long time to explain to her two daughters what death truly meant, finally helping them overcome their unease.
"Mother! Let's play stomping on toes together, Chuke always manages to step on them wrong." Ushiha's voice suddenly rose.
"Your mother's feet can really hurt you. But Chuke's feet are small, so when she steps on you, you don't feel any pain. You're getting the better deal," Lanqin laughed.
“But, Bichuk keeps stepping on the wrong things!” Ushiha exclaimed.
"Fine, then we won't play!" Bechuk said, also unhappy, and ran to Lanqin's side, pouting.
After listening for a while, Fourth Master focused all his attention on his two daughters, and all the unhappiness that had been lingering in his heart disappeared.
"Beichuk, come play with your father, okay?" Fourth Master finally couldn't help but walk to the door and say to the people inside the house.
"Father!" When Bechuk saw that Fourth Master had arrived, he immediately turned away from Lanqin, rushed to Fourth Master, and threw himself into his arms.
"Father!" Ushiha ran to Fourth Master's side and tugged at the hem of his robe.
Lanqin saw that the Fourth Master had suddenly arrived and thought to herself: Wasn't he supposed to go to the Nian family's place? Why is he here again?
Fourth Master could tell what Lanqin was thinking just by looking at the way she was looking at him.
“Come on, let your father teach you how to play chess, okay?” Fourth Master said to his two daughters.
"Okay!" The two daughters cooperated readily; they were happy as long as Fourth Master was willing to play with them.
“Master, they are still young. Chess is such a profound game. Let’s wait until they are older before teaching them,” Lanqin said. “How about you play Gomoku with them?”
"Gomoku? What's that?" Fourth Master asked, puzzled.
“How come Ama doesn’t even know about Gomoku, but even Ushiha knows about it?” Ushiha said.
"Then hurry up and teach your father how to play Gomoku, okay?" Lanqin said with a smile.
Ushiha nodded solemnly, and then she took Fourth Master's hand to play the Go game that Lanqin had made for the two of them.
