Chapter 1841 Delivering the Ointment

As soon as Steward Wu and the young waiter left the east courtyard, news of their punishment by Madam Nian spread throughout the inner quarters. Steward Wu, who always valued his reputation, felt utterly humiliated.

After returning to the kitchen, Steward Wu hid in his room and refused to come out.

He scolded and turned away several of his men who came to offer their condolences.

"Manager Wu!" the young waiter called out as he reached the door. He had caused trouble, but in the end, it was Manager Wu who was punished. He was terrified that Manager Wu would hold him accountable later, so he was extremely cautious. He wouldn't have dared to come if someone hadn't brought medicine.

"What? Speak quickly if you have something to say, or get lost!" Manager Wu was furious when he heard that it was the shop assistant who had caused him trouble.

"Manager Wu, I have some blood-activating ointment on my hand. If you apply some, it should help it heal faster," the waiter said.

Manager Wu was taken aback, but how did the young shop assistant get his hands on the medicine manuscript?

Someone of my status isn't qualified to see a doctor. Did he somehow manage to get one by paying money?

"Where did it come from?" Manager Wu asked.

He had already gotten out of bed and walked to the door latch.

"It was sent by Princess Fucha's people!" the young shop assistant said to the figure in the window.

Steward Wu was slightly taken aback. He couldn't recall any connection between himself and this Princess Fucha, but he still pulled open the door bolt. There stood the troublesome little eunuch, looking at him timidly!

"Did the person who gave you this say anything?" Manager Wu asked.

"No, it's just that Steward Wu usually takes good care of me, and when he heard about the punishment by Consort Nian, he sent someone to deliver this over," the waiter said.

"You little brat, don't you know that in this human community, nothing happens without a reason? Consort Nian beat and scolded us, and she had her reasons. It wasn't just about the bird's nest. And Princess Fucha sending the ointment wasn't out of genuine sympathy for people like us; there must be a reason for it too. You'd better watch out and learn from this while you're here. If you make a mistake again, I might not be able to protect you!" Steward Wu's face was red and swollen on both sides, and his expression was very serious, making him look somewhat ridiculous.

"Yes, I specifically asked about Hongqiao. She said you and Princess Fucha haven't had much interaction. I wonder why her master sent this medicine?" the shop assistant hurriedly replied.

"Yes! What did she say?" Manager Wu nodded.

"She said her mistress was preparing to recuperate and wanted to have bird's nest stewed in our kitchen every day to nourish her body. She didn't expect this to happen. She said that although she wanted to plead for the manager, she was powerless to do so! She also said that she hoped the manager could help her with this!" The waiter said, "Manager, I'll take a look for them. It's the same whether I look at one or two! I won't make any more mistakes."

After pondering for a moment, Steward Wu said, "You'll have to watch over this matter concerning Princess Fucha! Make sure there are no more problems; they're all our masters, we can't afford to offend them!"

"Yes! I wouldn't dare do it again! Manager, please apply the medicine! I'll apply it for you," the young shop assistant said.

"Give it to me and get out!" Manager Wu snatched the ointment from the young shop assistant's hand and then closed the door.

Meanwhile, Hongqiao returned to Lady Fucha and told her in detail about how she had sent the ointment.

"You didn't see Wu Yong?" Fucha asked, holding a pen with a floral design.

“No, I heard from the guys there that as soon as he got back, he locked himself in his room and wouldn’t see anyone! He’s probably afraid of being laughed at! You don’t hit someone in the face, and although he wasn’t seriously injured, he certainly didn’t look good!” Hongqiao said.

“This is a warning from Lady Nian to the people in the kitchen! She took over them from Lady Niohuru. There must be people from the South Courtyard among them who have probably caused Lady Nian some trouble, so Lady Nian may be taking this opportunity to teach them a lesson!” Lady Fucha said.

“To be honest, Lady Nian was also angry. She was also a concubine, but the other concubine had her own small kitchen, while she was still eating in the main kitchen. When I was there, I heard a lot of complaints from the servants!” Hongqiao said.

"This shows what matters to the Prince! I'm afraid Lady Nian has been resentful for a long time! This is just to make an example of her!" Lady Fucha said. "However, she never expected that we could take advantage of this opportunity."

“Master, the medicine pot you asked me to buy has been purchased. It looks exactly the same as the one from the Nian family! But I’m afraid they’ll say that the two medicine pots are exactly the same.” Hongqiao said, “The Nian family’s medicine pot is washed by a special person and then locked in that cabinet.”

"I'm afraid it's that guy who caused trouble today! If we win him over properly, he might not suspect anything!" said Lady Fucha.

“Yes, I’ve found out. He’s the one in charge! Every time Cuiling takes ten days’ worth of bird’s nest and blood clams, he locks them in that cupboard. Princess, we should make him lock them in the same cupboard too,” Hongqiao said.
