Chapter 1875 Hongqiao's Suicide

Since we can't kill Lady Fucha in one go, we must remind the Fourth Prince that this woman is dangerous and it's best not to get too close!

"Is that so?" Fourth Master was startled. When he went to Lady Fucha's place, he did smell some fragrance. But Lady Fucha told him that those fragrances were meant to help with sleep, and he had praised her for being so thoughtful.

"My lord," Lanqin said, "look at this record about incense. It says that incense has many effects, some of which are indeed beneficial, but others are harmful. I think we should investigate Fucha's incense to see if it's good or bad. Since she was capable of those things, I'm worried she might harm you." Since the Fourth Prince knew about Fucha's actions but refrained from intervening due to the Fucha family's influence, it was still necessary to take precautions.

Fourth Master naturally understood the meaning behind Lanqin's words, and was even more moved by her concern for him. He hugged her and said, "You can send someone to investigate. I support you."

Lanqin smiled slightly, but felt a little bitter inside. She had unknowingly become the woman behind the Fourth Master.

Fourth Master hadn't been eating well these past few days, but Chef Niu's excellent cooking kept him thoroughly entertained. Lanqin, on the other hand, seemed fine, but was inwardly troubled. Fourth Master didn't want to offend the Fucha clan and had tolerated her methods towards Nian Shi, which showed that Nian Shi's place in his heart was rather insignificant. Thinking of this, Lanqin didn't know whether to be happy or sad. Although Lanqin knew Fourth Master certainly didn't feel the same way about her, she still felt somewhat uneasy.

"What's wrong with you?" Fourth Master noticed that Lanqin was preoccupied.

"This humble servant..." Lanqin didn't know how to express the sorrow in her heart.

Suddenly someone came to report something, which conveniently covered up Lanqin's embarrassment.

"Reporting to Master, the servants have come to report that Hongqiao has committed suicide!" Baoqin, who was outside, led the man to the doorway and said.

Lanqin frowned, feeling even more disgusted with Lady Fucha.

Fourth Master had no intention of pursuing the matter further, so he said, "Have someone carry it out!"

"Your Highness, Princess Fucha says that Hongqiao followed her for a long time and wants to pay for a simple coffin for her herself," the man said.

"Let her be!" Fourth Master said, frowning. He was already disgusted with Lady Fucha, such a pretentious woman.

"Wait! Your Highness, I wish to go and take a look." Lanqin felt that Lady Fucha would not do anything useless; she must have some purpose in doing so.

"Qin'er, let's leave the matter of Lady Fucha here," said the Fourth Prince.

"I understand. I want to ask the people over there how they were guarding her. How could they let a perfectly healthy person commit suicide?" Lanqin said.

The Fourth Prince thought for a moment and then nodded: "That's fine, otherwise we'll have something to say if Nian Gengyao asks."

Lanqin then got up and left the dinner table for the first time. She knew that Hongqiao's death must have a reason, and it couldn't have been suicide. She hurriedly went to the northern courtyard of the Fourth Master's residence.

When Lanqin arrived, Hongqiao's body had not yet been collected and was being lifted and placed on the two door panels.

Lady Fucha was also there; she and Ping'er were squatting in a corner burning paper money. Lanqin walked up to Hongqiao and carefully examined her body.

Lanqin looked at Hongqiao's neck, where there was a thin mark. She frowned and said, "Weren't her hands and feet tied? How could she have hanged herself?"
