Chapter 1919 Seeking Precious Items Leads to Another Crime

"Secondary Consort!"

Lanqin had just stepped off the carriage with Yuxiao's help when she heard a voice coming from a corner.

Lanqin subconsciously turned around to look, and saw a head peeking out from behind the stone lions next to the Prince's Mansion. After he stood up and bowed to Lanqin, she finally saw his face clearly. He was actually one of her father's errand boys.

"Why are you here instead of staying by your father's side? Is something wrong, Father or Mother?" Lanqin was about to scold him, but then she thought that this servant must have been sent by her father to wait for her.

"Yes, this servant has something to attend to. This servant does not have a letter from the master, and the gatekeeper only told this servant that the concubine has gone out and will not let this servant in." This servant was named "Zhou Sha", a servant born into the Ling family, and usually served by Ling Zhu's side.

"Come in with me." Lanqin had a premonition that something was going on, and she couldn't help but frown slightly.

When Zhou Sha returned to the South Courtyard with Lan Qin, Lan Qin saw that he looked exhausted and guessed that he must have been standing there for two or three hours. So she asked the maids to bring him some snacks and tea. After he regained some strength, she called him over to talk.

“Reporting to Consort Zhou, it was Master who sent me. Master had no other choice but to secretly send me to find Consort Zhou,” Zhou Sha said.

"What exactly happened?" Lanqin asked, frowning. She had gone back once during the Lantern Festival, and everything was fine then, nothing seemed amiss.

"Reporting to Consort, something has happened to the Second Young Master. Consort Yang came to the Master for help, but the Madam forbade the Master to get involved. However, the Master couldn't bear to leave it alone, so he sent me to find Consort," Zhou Sha said.

Upon hearing this, Lanqin thought, "Oh dear, it's my cheap old man again. He's causing trouble again because of his illegitimate son." She had made him separate from the family in the first place because she was afraid that Yang's two half-brothers would become a burden to their mother and elder brother. Fortunately, Qiu Fu was ambitious and passed the imperial examinations, but Qiu Gui was a typical spoiled brat.

"What's wrong with Qiu Gui this time?" Lanqin asked. She knew it must be her father again, unable to withstand Yang's pestering, coming to beg her for help. Her mother and elder brother refused to help. Over the years, Qiu Gui had squandered all the land and shops Lingzhu had given him, and now he was emptying Yang's personal savings. These were the things Anjia had told Lanqin, but Lanqin just took it as gossip and let it go. After all, he wasn't her own brother, and she had already taken care of him as best she could.

"The second young master... he killed someone, and that person has already been imprisoned by the Jingzhao Yin's guards," Zhou Sha said tremblingly.

"What!" Lanqin thought it was just about him asking for money again, but she didn't expect it to be this.

Zhou Sha dared not look at Lan Qin's face. This kind of thing was indeed unpleasant to hear. No wonder Ling Zhu sent his servant to bring it up with her. He was probably too embarrassed to ask her for help himself.

"Tell me in detail what exactly happened," Lanqin asked patiently, having calmed her surprise.

"The second young master was drinking with some people outside when he took a fancy to a woman. On a whim, he grabbed her and said he would take her as his concubine. Then the woman's father came and pulled at the second young master, and the second young master accidentally killed the man," Zhou Sha said cautiously.

It's that same rotten thing again. Lanqin remembers a few years ago when Qiu Gui took a fancy to one of the maids in his room, but she refused him, so he drove her to her death. Back then, he bribed her to settle the matter, but now he's done it again, and this time he killed someone in the street. It's utterly lawless!

"No matter what, let such scum pay with his life!" Lan Qin thought to herself, then said to Zhou Sha, "You should go back first and tell your father that I will be back in a couple of days, and we'll talk about it then."

Zhou Sha had been repeatedly instructed by Lingzhu to make sure that the concubine gave him a reply, but now Lanqin had only given him this one sentence. How was he supposed to explain himself when he got back?

"Go back, I'll go back tomorrow." Lanqin looked at his expression and knew he was afraid she would just give her a perfunctory answer, so she sighed helplessly.

After seeing Zhou Sha off, Lan Qin felt exhausted, so she simply lay down on the couch to rest.

"My lady, let me help you with your haircut!" Si Hua said, looking at Lan Qin with concern. Lan Qin had far too many things to manage these days. And those troublesome people kept coming to her door.

"Mm." Lanqin nodded. She was living a life she never imagined before. She had become a hardworking auntie.

“Master, you’re so busy every day, why don’t you take a few days to rest before you go?” Si Hua said.

“Hmm. If I don’t go, Mother and the others won’t have peace either. Let’s just resolve everything this time to avoid future troubles.” Lanqin closed her eyes, letting Sihua gently comb her hair.

"Mother!"

Ushiha's voice rang out from outside the house. Before Lanqin could open her eyes, the cotton curtain on the door was lifted, and Ushiha entered, wearing soft embroidered shoes.
