In the blink of an eye, the carriage arrived at Prince Chun's residence. Neither Ushiha nor Bechuk could convince the other, so they fell silent, and the atmosphere between the two sisters became somewhat tense.
The two got out of the car and handed the invitation and their name cards to the gatekeeper.
Chunfang personally came out to greet them. She had a good relationship with Bechuk. The two girls were from the same family and had met several times in the palace, so they often corresponded.
"Sister Wuxiha, Sister Bechuk, you've finally arrived! I've missed you so much!" Chunfang said affectionately, linking arms with one of them.
"Sister Chunfang, who came today?" Bechuk asked.
“Today’s guests are all prominent socialites from the capital, including Miss Sun, daughter of the Minister of Rites; Miss Chu, daughter of the Vice Minister of Works; Miss Mingyu from the Fucha family; Miss Gao from the family of the Imperial Censor; and Miss Zhang from the family of Lord Zhang Tingyu,” Chunfang said.
"Oh, these are all well-known young ladies of marriageable age. Chunfang, are you planning to gather all of us unmarried women together to comfort each other?" Wuxiha teased. These young women of marriageable age loved to gather together to talk about which noble young men in the capital were still unmarried, and which men their elders had arranged for them.
Upon hearing these people's names, Ushiha felt that perhaps he shouldn't have come today; he had only come to accompany Bechuk.
“Chunying, she just likes to joke, don’t mind her. Today, several young ladies from famous families in the capital have come. Let’s go and meet them.” Bechuk said hurriedly.
The three of them walked around the main house, through the hanging flower gate, and around several corridors until they arrived at a garden. There, they saw a garden filled with chrysanthemums of various colors, with tables and chairs set up in the center of the display. Several noblewomen were already seated there, chatting and laughing, their smiles concealed by handkerchiefs.
Ushiha looked at those people and felt disheartened, but since he was already there, he couldn't just leave right away.
After they were seated, the young ladies went to pay their respects to Ushiha and Bechuk. They all knew that Prince Yong was the most respected among the princes, so naturally Ushiha and Bechuk had the highest status.
"Sister Mingyu~" Bie Chuke took Fucha Mingyu's hand and began to speak.
The others surrounded Wuxiha, saying flattering things, but Wuxiha wasn't interested. He gave them a few perfunctory replies and then made an excuse to go to the toilet, asking Chunfang to send someone to take him there.
Ushiha followed the maid out of the garden, then walked through several passageways and arrived at a latrine.
"You can stand here, I'll go in by myself." Ushiha was not used to having a strange maidservant serve him when he went to the toilet.
"Yes, then this servant will wait here." The maidservant immediately replied obediently when she saw that Ushiha wouldn't let her go in to serve him.
Ushiha nodded and went into the latrine. After using the toilet, Ushiha didn't want to go back to the chrysanthemum appreciation party. She had come with Bechuk, and she really didn't like chatting with those young ladies about the noble children she looked down on.
“Hey, I’m feeling a bit dizzy, I’d like to rest over there for a bit,” Ushiha said, pointing to the rock.
"But, should I help you walk?" The maid felt it was inappropriate for Wuxiha to rest on the spot.
“No need, I’ll just sit here and rest,” Ushiha insisted.
