"But Consort, if we find out that the General's actions have been leaked, it will be extremely detrimental to him," Xiaomei said hurriedly.

"I know, that's why I'm in so much pain. On one side is my father, on the other is my husband, how can I choose? It's just that Longkodo is now a favorite of the Emperor, a single word from him can cost countless high-ranking officials their lives. Now, he's seized my father, forcing me to betray the Grand General." Madam Chen was already sobbing uncontrollably. Her words to the Fourteenth Prince were a test of his attitude. Seeing his unwavering determination to seize the position, she was inwardly agonizing. If only the Fourteenth Prince didn't vie for that position, she wouldn't have to live in such a predicament, and perhaps Longkodo wouldn't have such a grip on the Chen family.

"Consort, what should we do now? Should we continue to report the General's actions to him? If the General finds out, I'm afraid he won't forgive you," Xiaomei said worriedly.

“I have no other choice. My father and mother raised me, and I can’t abandon them. The General is the Emperor’s son, and no matter what he does, the Emperor won’t take his life.” Chen wiped away her tears, still determined in her heart what to do.

It turned out that after Longkodo learned that the people Fourth Prince had planted around Fourteenth Prince had been eliminated by Fourteenth Prince, he turned his attention to Lady Chen. Coincidentally, her father, Chen Shichang, was the Minister of Revenue. After a special investigation, Longkodo discovered that Chen Shichang had embezzled some silver in the past. Actually, that had happened many years ago, and would have gone unnoticed if no one had mentioned it. Longkodo then secretly wrote a letter to Lady Chen, explaining the serious implications to her.

Meanwhile, Fourteen strolled into his study, and before he could even sit down, the mysterious visitor arrived.

After the soldiers brought her to Fourteen's study, she cupped her hands and said to Fourteen, "General, she no longer has any weapons on her."

Fourteen waved his hand, signaling him to leave.

The newcomer was dressed in deep purple; it was a woman. A veiled hat covered her face completely.

"Who are you?" Fourteen narrowed his eyes and asked scrutinizingly.

"Has the General forgotten me?" the man said, then raised his hand to untie his hatband and with his other hand lifted the veil of his hat.

Upon seeing who it was, Fourteen was surprised and stood up from his chair, staring blankly at the newcomer.

"Qingwan!" He managed to squeeze out those two words.

It turned out that the woman in purple was none other than Zhu Qingwan, the White Lotus Sect member who had disappeared before Fourteen years ago. Her features were still as beautiful as ever, but her demeanor had matured considerably. She had shed her youthful exuberance and gained the charm of a mature woman.

"Yinzhen, how have you been?" Zhu Qingwan said with a smile. She already had two dimples on her face, making her smile very sweet.

The Fourteenth Prince couldn't help but recall eleven years ago when he chased after Zhu Qingwan as she fled.

They finally caught up in a bamboo forest, where the two men were standing in the mud, each with injuries.

"When you let me go back then, I said that one day I would come back to repay your kindness," Zhu Qingwan said with a beautiful smile.

Fourteen was still in a daze, marveling at how kind time had been to this woman, making her seem never to have aged.
