Chapter 218 Interval

"Xia He has already told me the whole story! This is just a small matter. You made her kneel in the scorching sun for an hour. If I hadn't come back, were you planning to make her kneel there forever?" The Fujin said coldly to Yan Yu. It wasn't that she felt sorry for Chunliu, but Chunliu was, after all, her person. Without her permission, Yan Yu had actually made such a big fuss to punish her servant, as if her own things had been arbitrarily rummaged through.

"Why should you protect a servant like this, sister? She has no respect for her master. What's wrong with you punishing her?" Yan Yu could see that the Fujin was unhappy with her punishment of Chunliu, but she still refused to back down and murmured in a low voice.

"You haven't even entered the manor yet, so you're not her master. How can you say you have no respect for your master?" The Fujin was really unhappy that Yan Yu showed no remorse and that her plan had basically fallen through because of the Fourth Prince's words. In addition, Yan Yu's lack of discretion made her even angrier.

Upon hearing what the Fujin said, Yan Yu was stunned and stood there speechless. She felt as if she had been slapped twice across the face. Tears of shame and indignation welled up in her eyes, and she turned and ran outside, sobbing.

"Princess, Princess!" Yun Yuan chased after her. The Fujin, not expecting such a reprimand from her, shook her head in anger and said to Granny Li, "Go and fetch Doctor Zhou to examine Chunliu. Quickly help her to the side room to rest!"

After everyone had finished with their own business, the Fujin was helped back to her study by Qiu Chan.

Meanwhile, Yan Yu ran on, not knowing which way to go, just running forward as she pleased. She thought the Fujin would immediately send someone to stop her, but after listening for a long time, she only heard Yun Yuan's voice behind her.

Yan Yu immediately ran to the garden and caught her breath. She was already furious with the Fujin: for the sake of a mere maid, she actually scolded her in front of so many servants for not being a proper mistress. So that's what she thought too!

"Princess, stop running! If you keep running, I won't be able to catch up with you!" Yun Yuan said breathlessly.

"Hmph, Yun Yuan, just you wait and see. Once I'm truly in the manor, I'll never put up with these people's temper again!" Yan Yu said resentfully.

"Oh, isn't this Sister Yan Yu? Who are you talking about? Who upset you?" A melodious voice suddenly came from behind Yan Yu and her maid. After a while, a woman in a light purple cheongsam came out from the canna lily. It was Li Shi and her maid Xiang Qiao.

"Greetings, Consort Li!" Yan Yu gave a slight bow.

"My dear sister, you are so polite. Would you like to accompany me for a walk?" Madam Li glanced at the remaining tears under her eyes and a slight smile appeared on her lips.

"Why did you come here to relax, sister?" Yan Yu followed Li Shi, while the two maids naturally lagged behind.

"Yes, I don't have anything else to do. The Third Prince is with the First Prince at Master Zhu's place, the Second Princess is with the Fujin, and the Fourth Prince is still asleep. So I came out for a walk by myself!" Madam Li chatted on and on about her children, her face full of happiness and contentment.

"Sister is so lucky to have given birth to two sons and a daughter for her husband. She is the most glamorous one in the Fourth Prince's mansion." At this moment, Yan Yu was more polite to Li Shi because she was dissatisfied with the Fujin.

"Hehe, my sister, you really know how to talk. If we're talking about who's the most fortunate, it's not me, but your older sister. No matter what I do, I can never surpass the primary wife," Li said with a smile, as if she didn't care about those words at all.

Yan Yu forced a smile and then fell silent. She was still angry with the Fujin and hadn't even asked her how things were going.

"What are you thinking about, little sister? You seem so engrossed in your thoughts." Madam Li glanced at Yan Yu and noticed that she seemed to be thinking about something. She asked tentatively.

"It's nothing, I'm just a little sad. My sister actually scolded me for a mere servant!" Yan Yu was still upset about the matter of Chun Liu and couldn't help but complain to Li Shi.

“Such things happen, Your Highness, what you did was wrong. My sister is Your Highness’s own sister. If I had a sister like you, I would protect her too much to not scold you for the sake of a servant girl!” Li Shi’s face was full of disbelief.

"Even my elder sister knows this principle, but my own sister doesn't. It really chills my heart!" Yan Yu complained angrily.

Li's eyes flashed, and she suddenly grabbed Yan Yu's hand, saying solemnly, "Sister, walking around here must be tiring. Why don't you come sit with me for a while?"

Yan Yu hesitated for a moment, then nodded and followed Li Shi to the East Courtyard.

Meanwhile, in the main courtyard, Chunliu had suffered a slight heatstroke from being exposed to the sun too much, but thanks to Doctor Zhou's timely treatment and the medicine she had taken, she would be fine after a little rest. The Fujin (principal wife) wrote in the study for a while, then asked Li Mama, who was serving her, "Hasn't Yanyu returned yet?"

"No, should we send someone to look for it?" asked Granny Li.

"No need, she'll go back on her own. Father still spoils her rotten. She punishes servants for the smallest things. How can someone with such a temperament stand in this inner courtyard? I thought keeping her by my side would help me, but looking at it this way, Granny, is Yan Yu still suitable to come in? Besides, now that Fourth Prince has said that, I think this plan shouldn't continue." The Fujin ultimately didn't want to risk Yan Yu. What if the chief officiant was an elder member of the imperial clan? She could ruin Yan Yu's life. Although the Fujin didn't particularly like her younger sister, she was still a member of the Ula family, and she didn't want Yan Yu to resent her later. Besides, she wouldn't be able to explain things to Fei Yanggu.

“Since the Princess Consort has made her decision, then this old servant will go and inform Lord Wu Ge to stop spreading that rumor,” Granny Li said softly.

The princess nodded. But if she knew that Yan Yu was currently in her nemesis's courtyard, she probably wouldn't have thought so much for her younger sister.

Yan Yu was in Li Shi's main room, eating watermelon, while Li Shi had Que'er peel grapes for her. Compared to the strictness of the Fujin (principal wife), Li Shi was good at winning people's hearts, and before long, Yan Yu was confiding in her.

"Sister Li, you're so funny! I really want to come visit you more often in the future." Yan Yu said this because she was certain that she would marry into the Fourth Prince's household.

Li's eyes flashed, and she naturally understood the meaning behind her words. She deliberately asked, "The other day, my sister said that she was a person with the water element in her five elements. I wonder if she went to tell Fourth Master about it?"

Yan Yu picked up a peeled grape and said, "My sister went to my brother-in-law's place this morning to talk about this."
