Chapter 2195 As Expected, Poisoned

Lanqin's idea was quite bold; most people wouldn't think of this approach, but it was reasonable and not entirely impossible. Wu Shi inwardly praised Lanqin's wisdom and couldn't help but exclaim, "Yes, Consort, you're right. It's impossible for the Third Prince to have his food poisoned every single day; that would be too troublesome and easily discovered. After all, the culprit doesn't know what Hongsheng will eat or not eat on different days. Therefore, only long-term poisoning of a certain food can ensure that Hongsheng gradually becomes poisoned. And the Third Prince loves fish the most, so fish is the best choice."

Everyone present found Lanqin's idea unbelievable, but they couldn't quite put their finger on what was wrong with it, so they could only watch quietly.

Mrs. Nian's body trembled uncontrollably, and her voice became hoarse. She said to Lanqin, "Alright, let Doctor Lin examine you! Baizhi, Cuiling, you two come too."

Doctor Lin then began examining the poison for the Nian family and their servants. They went into the Nian family's inner room, while the others waited outside.

A sense of tension began to spread, and everyone was inexplicably excited by Lanqin's bold guess, except for one person.

Fucha hadn't expected Lanqin to think of this. She had deliberately said that to disrupt Lanqin's investigation, but now she was starting to suspect the ingredients.

Everyone waited anxiously for the results, but each harbored their own thoughts. The crowded east courtyard, however, exuded a cold and austere atmosphere.

After about the time it takes to drink a cup of tea, Doctor Lin came out from the inner room of the Nian family.

He reported to Lanqin: "Reporting to Consort Nian, Consort Nian indeed has cinnabar poison in her body... Baizhi and Cuiling also have a small amount of cinnabar in their bodies."

Everyone felt fear and whispered among themselves, their expressions varied, but all their faces showed anger and shock.

Ms. Nian followed out, trembling as she asked, "Is there any way to cure the cinnabar poison in my body?"

Doctor Lin reported to Lady Nian: "The amount in the concubine's body is very small. With a little care, there is no danger to her life..."

Lanqin waved to Doctor Lin, signaling him to leave. She realized the murderer was no ordinary person; she dared to poison even Madam Nian, determined to eliminate Hongsheng. Whatever her motives or desires, it was terrifying. She had managed to remain undetected in the Yong Prince's residence, but what if her target was her…? Lanqin dared not think further. Could she possibly escape detection?

"Master Gao, what do you have to say?" Lanqin walked outside and asked the cook.

With a thud, he knelt down in fright, trembling as he said, "Your Highness, I didn't know either! I would never dare to poison the Third Prince!"

“Consort, perhaps the problem lies with those fish noodles!” Madam Wu stood up and walked to Lanqin’s side.

Lanqin glanced at Wu Shi, nodded, and said, "Guards, detain him. We'll talk about it after we've investigated the matter thoroughly! Also, where are your fish from today? Bring them out!"

"My lady, I have already examined the fish and found nothing wrong," Doctor Lin hurriedly said.

"Perhaps you just haven't noticed yet. Bring them out first, let us take another look at these fish!" Lanqin shouted.

Master Gao was taken away, and then Nian's servants quickly brought out the bucket of fish from the kitchen.

Everyone couldn't sit still any longer and crowded around. Inside a large bucket, several grass carp were blowing bubbles, showing no signs of anything amiss.
