Granny Li was standing in front of Ulanara Wuge, who stood with his hands behind his back in front of the latticed window, listening to her narration.
"Does the Princess Consort really think that the Fourth Prince has become suspicious?" Wu Ge asked. He and the Princess Consort were siblings born of the same mother, Fei Yanggu's legal wife.
"Yes, the Princess Consort also said that Lord Wuge must cut off any clues that could lead to the Ulanara family, so as not to find out about you," said Granny Li, bowing her head.
"Elder sister, you don't need to worry about that. The people I sent aren't from the manor, so Fourth Prince won't trace them back to them," Wu Ge said confidently.
The master also said, "Please bring Ninth Princess back to the manor as soon as possible, to avoid any trouble." Granny Li added the last sentence herself.
"I understand. Please ask the nanny to go back and tell my elder sister not to worry too much!" Wu Ge always held his elder sister, his own flesh and blood, in high esteem. Although they were five years apart, he regarded his wife as a mother figure. Fei Yanggu's first wife had passed away early, and when his wife was still at home, she often took care of her younger brother, so their relationship was much deeper than that of ordinary siblings!
After Granny Li left, Wu Ge and his entourage immediately boarded a carriage and left. Little did they know, the place had already been secretly watched by men sent by the Fourth Master. Several men in plain clothes followed Wu Ge's carriage.
Seeing that Granny Li had not returned, the Fujin helped Chunliu walk towards Yanyu's room.
Yun Yuan was hanging Yan Yu's clothes out to dry at the door when she saw the Fujin arrive. She immediately put down the clothes and went forward to greet her!
"Where is your princess?" The princess's face was unusually serious. She glared at Yun Yuan, who felt as if sharp thorns were slicing through her body!
"Reporting to Your Highness, the Princess is painting in her room!" Yun Yuan didn't want to say it, but the Princess's gaze forced her to.
"You continue with your work, I'll go in by myself," the Fujin said. Yun Yuan didn't dare follow her in to inform Yan Yu that the Fujin had arrived, because she knew she mustn't let the Fujin see what she was painting!
But the look in the Fujin's eyes just now frightened her so much that she dared not utter a sound.
At this moment, Yan Yu was lying on her dressing table in her bedroom, painting. She didn't even notice when the Fujin walked in. She was using her brush to paint the man in her heart!
The man in the painting was dressed in a royal blue robe with a dragon-patterned belt around his waist. A translucent green jade pendant hung on the side of his robe, and he wore a hat inlaid with precious stones. Who else could it be but the Fourth Prince!
"It seems your brother-in-law has long been deeply ingrained in your heart?" the Fujin said in disbelief as she looked at the person depicted in the painting.
"Sister, sister, why did you come without announcing yourself!" Yan Yu immediately covered the painting with her handkerchief, but the Fujin had already seen it clearly.
"Yan Yu, you don't need to hide it. Just paint if you want. When Granny Li returns, pack your things and go back to the manor tomorrow. Your elder sister will pretend she has never seen this painting before!" The Fujin walked to Yan Yu's side without room for argument and put her hand on her shoulder.
"Sister, I'm not leaving! Why do you insist I leave?" Yan Yu became agitated upon hearing that the Fujin wanted her to leave the next day. Without hesitation, she broke free from the Fujin's gentle caress, walked to the side, and hid the painting in her inner sleeve.
“It’s not that I want you to leave, but your brother-in-law has long been suspicious and is probably sending people to investigate. If he finds even the slightest clue, I’m afraid it will implicate the entire family,” the Fujin said.
"Sister, I'm afraid it's not that you're afraid of implicating the family, but that you're afraid your younger sister will steal the Fourth Prince's favor. I really didn't expect you to change your mind so quickly, changing your mind about things that were agreed upon!" Yan Yu couldn't listen to the Fujin's words at this moment, and had already concluded in her heart that it was the Fujin who was not allowing her to enter the mansion.
"Have you stopped being ridiculous! You have to go back tomorrow." The last bit of patience in the Fujin's heart was worn away by Yan Yu's disobedience.
"Sister, why did my brother-in-law suddenly bestow jewelry upon me? If what you say is true, then how do you explain those gifts?" Yan Yu asked, raising her hand and pointing to the jewelry in her hair.
"I can't figure out why your brother-in-law is doing this, but I feel something is very wrong. I tried to get some information out of the head nanny, but she's too tight-lipped. But I'm sure it's not your brother-in-law's intention to do this to you. Do you understand?" The Fujin almost wanted to grab Yan Yu and make her leave immediately.
"It's all just my elder sister's speculation, yet she's deciding Yan Yu's fate. Isn't that unfair?" Yan Yu's mind was filled with longing for the magnificent Fourth Prince's mansion. She had fallen for the aloof Fourth Prince since she was very young, and waited until she grew up to finally enter the palace for the imperial concubine selection, just like her elder sister. However, because she was the younger sister of the Fujin (a concubine's sister), the Consort De did not betroth her to the Fourth Prince, but instead chose Niu Shi and Yin Shi. She was extremely unwilling, so she deliberately expressed her dissatisfaction with the marriage arranged by Fei Yanggu, until she finally got her wish and arrived at the Fourth Prince's mansion.
"Do you still care about me, your elder sister, or the Ulanara family? Stop thinking only of yourself." The princess's temper was also provoked by Yan Yu's stubbornness.
"You're only thinking about yourself. I'm going to see my brother-in-law right now. If he tells me to go back, I'll leave immediately and won't stay a moment longer!" Yan Yu glared angrily. At this moment, the two sisters were like enemies, neither willing to give in, even though they had just formed an alliance not long ago.
"You are not allowed to go anywhere. Wuge will send someone to pick you up tomorrow!" the Fujin said coldly. She then said to Chunliu, "Go and find a few servants to watch this gate. No one is allowed to enter or leave without my permission. You will personally deliver Yan Yu's meals." After saying this, Chunliu left as instructed.
Seeing that she was about to be placed under house arrest, Yan Yu disregarded everything and suddenly ran out. The Fujin was unable to stop her in time, but Chunliu had not gone far and blocked Yan Yu's way.
"Get out of my way!" Yan Yu looked at Chun Liu with a livid face. Her hatred for the Fujin had made her lose her mind. She rushed forward and got entangled with Chun Liu.
"Let her go!" The Fujin slowly walked out, and seeing Yan Yu's almost frantic behavior, she had already made up her mind. She said, "Yan Yu, you chose this path yourself. Don't blame your elder sister for not stopping you later!"
Chunliu hadn't expected the Fujin to change her mind, but she had already stopped what she was doing. Taking advantage of this opportunity, Yanyu shook off Chunliu's entanglement and ran out. At the door, she said, "I won't regret it. I just hope that my elder sister won't regret it later." This time, she didn't wander aimlessly but ran directly to the east courtyard.
