Fourth Master unconsciously moved closer to Lanqin, and only when he walked behind Lanqin did Biechuke notice him.
Bechuk was taken aback. Fourth Master quickly gestured for Bechuk to be quiet and made a shushing gesture.
Bechuk could only pretend not to know, silently picked up the juice and took a sip, but a smile appeared on his lips.
Knowing that the Fourth Prince and Lanqin had a falling out, Bechuk deliberately asked Lanqin in front of the Fourth Prince, "Mother, if Father Emperor came to see you at this time, would you still be angry with him?"
Fourth Master smiled at Bie Chuke, who responded by raising an eyebrow.
Lanqin, of course, knew nothing. After thinking for a moment, she said, "Even if your father, the Emperor, really came, I wouldn't forgive him easily... Although he is the ruler of a country, high above all others, to me he is my husband. As husband and wife, we should understand and tolerate each other, but your father, the Emperor, hasn't considered my feelings at all. I won't forgive him..."
Bechuk pouted and continued, "But Mother, didn't you say that Father did this to protect us...?"
Upon hearing this, Lanqin's brows furrowed in alarm, and she angrily said, "This is the main reason I'm angry. Your father, the Emperor, clearly meant well and deliberately neglected me to protect us, spreading rumors that I had fallen out of favor. But he didn't tell me anything and acted on his own as if he were a great hero."
Bechuk chuckled to himself, "Then why is Mother still so angry? Since Father still cares about us, Mother will forgive him..."
Lanqin shook her head: "No, what I hope for in a marriage is one where we can be honest with each other and share both joy and sorrow. But he's the opposite; he shoulders everything himself. Since your father, the Emperor, likes to show off so much, then let him suffer more..."
Bechuk glanced helplessly at Fourth Master and said, "This is all I can do for you. You'll have to figure out the rest yourself."
Fourth Master approached and swept Lanqin up in his arms. Lanqin was caught off guard and was startled. Her sunglasses were askew, and she frantically cried for help.
Bechuk laughed and hid to the side, calling out to the Fourth Prince and Lanqin, "Father, Mother, I have something to attend to, I'll be leaving now..."
Lanqin opened her eyes and looked closely. She realized that the face she vaguely saw in the sunlight was actually Fourth Master. Her nose stung, and tears welled up in her eyes. She pounded Fourth Master's chest and scolded him softly, "You scared me! You scared me..."
Fourth Master smiled as he put Lanqin down, pulled her into his arms, and asked affectionately, "Are you still angry with me?"
Lanqin burst into tears of joy. She thought that the Fourth Master had probably heard what she had just said, and she couldn't find anything to say for a moment. Her face was flushed, and she was both surprised and delighted by the Fourth Master's sudden arrival.
Lanqin glanced at the fishing rod beside her. The bait touched the water, creating ripples. She gently nudged Fourth Master and said in a coquettish voice, "Of course I'm angry! You scared all my fish away..."
The Fourth Prince laughed heartily and said to the person in his arms, "I'll go fishing with you. As long as you don't get angry, I'll agree to anything you want..."
Lanqin was momentarily lost in thought. Looking at the slightly thinner Fourth Prince, she said, "Your Majesty is so busy with state affairs, how come you have time to come to my humble abode?"
"I've come to deliver a gift to my Qin'er!" the Fourth Prince said playfully, a rare occurrence for him.
"Etiquette?" Lanqin asked in surprise.
"Come with me back inside. I guarantee you'll be delighted when you see this gift," the Fourth Prince said mysteriously.
Lanqin really couldn't guess what kind of gift Fourth Master would give her, such as jewelry, clothes or something.
